What do you think will be the biggest application of blockchain technology in the next few years, aside from banking and other financial transactions? It seems like everyone is buying into the hype and trying to apply it to everything, but it feels like a meme for most applications.

>What do you think will be the biggest application of blockchain technology in the next few years
As a marketing buzzword.

Blockchain-based Valve Anti-Cheat

blockchain imageboards

buggy code that marketing twinks flock towards

Block chains create redundant data across every client on the network. The fact that all of you have not already figured this out means that WD/Seagate/et all have already won.

cracking encryption for the NSA under the guise of crypto anarchy

Actually I personally think Blockchain based porn storage will disrupt the adult content distribution industries.

storage.clearly.

People will use this technology to distribute child pornography so this is a no-go

Maybe as a global interbank payment system.

Other than that why go through all the hassle of blockchain?

Isn't blockchain basically a very, very specific and limited botnet?

>Maybe as a global interbank payment system.
>Other than that why go through all the hassle of blockchain?
They will eventually go that way.
Swift is too complicated and outdated. Using a centralized and regulated private blockchain for banks will replace swift without scalability problems and provide a simplified on boarding process for new banks.

The way it looks to me is, the biggest use for cryptos is to make credit cards obsolete. Vendors typically pay a lot of money to offer credit cards as an option to consumers to make online payments an option.

Even with US charging capital gains on bitcoin transactions, that only occurs if when you spend your bitcoins, their value was greater than before when you obtained them.

this

it's just a proof of work algo so it can verify things like logs. it might be useful for audit trail stuff like email and meeting minutes or medical records or maybe system logs.

It would be perfect to finally create a secure and private email system that cannot be spoofed using a blockchain.

explain blockchain to me like i'm 3 years old and retarded

DNS in the block chain

Hopefully nothing.

...

You could see it as a shared database.

One computer creates a block. This block can only be calculated if you incorperate the hash of the last block + all new transactions.
Then multiple other computers have to verify the correctness of this block. If everyone says its correct then that block with all new transactions becomes permanent.
And then the calculations for the next block with transactions can begin.

The result is that the system is always checked by everyone. And you cant commit fraud by changing data.

To ensure people will keep processing transactions and people dont spam the blockchain you have to pay a small fee for each transaction.

And of course everyone can create private adresses (which decrypt data) and public addresses (which encrypt data) to send transactions with information to each other.

And if people across the world are working on one database then you cant take it down either.

blockchain torrenting where instead of a seed ratio you pay or receive bitcoin for your piracy

blockchain boot loaders, no coins in your account, no boot

blockchain DNS where every lookup incurs a fixed cost

blockchain browsers which automatically tip the site owner based on how long your window is open, regardless of whether or not you're actually actively looking at the site

blockchain erections where your penis doesn't work unless you charge it up with bitcoins

Smart contracts from insurance companies will make sure you can only spend the insurance money on one thing.

>blockchain torrenting where instead of a seed ratio you pay or receive bitcoin for your piracy
i'm actually working on a project for this right now. the main objective is to decentralize torrent trackers, but it could also be used for micropayments while browsing the web, or building a decentralized patreon.

I think blockchain solves the issue of the storage required to power a 'uploading brain system' while I don't think it's anytime in the near future. I do think blockchain is going to power a server for *dead* people to live on.

I was just kidding around but if you can solve the ad cancer then good on you, will invest.

99% of brains only contain useless information. And information that others already carry.

LOL why is this true. The people really big into block chain making shit are literal marketers and people falling for the hype

what do you mean by this? how does blockchain affect HDD/SSDs?

Blockchains are actually really useful. But why on earth would a coin be worth more than a cent of a cent.

>paying to pirate

If you mean receiving a coin for downloading or seeding its cool though

>pay 1.2 bitpennies per gb download
>receive 1.0 bitpennies for upload
it will be a chinese gold farm such as the world has never seen

I think Monero can do this but I assume its not free?

You'll get raped by US govt when they audit the exchanges and trace your $$'s to a bitcoin piracy outfit
