Can someone explain why the US government would allow a foreign entity to buy America's most advanced robotics company?

Can someone explain why the US government would allow a foreign entity to buy America's most advanced robotics company?

And why would Google/Alphabet let go of such a company, despite knowing the advances being made in Boston Dynamics?

LOL Capitalism, bro xD

When the inevitable robot uprising happens, they'll die first. Giving us time to prepare.

It's a front to make us think that the military/powerfull corporations don't have extremely sophisticated androids. Do you seriously thought for a moment that they would let us peek in what they are doing in their underground labs? For now they wont you to acclimate with the idea of real-life functional robots so that you don't get shocked with replicant-tier machines. It's over.

*want

because the memebots don't actually work and are a huge waste of resources... DARPA doesn't want to be left with the hot potato

t. worthless meatbag

...

>softbank
its japan, that's basically US-lite in terms of tech development. We'll get any cool shit they have since we're tied at the hip for the pacific military force.

every country in the world belongs to america

However, Finns are still the most powerful race

if Google saw a future in it, they would not have sold it. So there's that.

There is a future in it but not for Google. Google doesn't have a workforce that can be replaced with these robots. Amazon does though. So Google would've ended up selling these to Amazon and getting all the bad press for replacing jobs.

Was probably better just to sell it and focus on other things. That future is pretty long term.

They don't show promising potential like tesla

weird. then why is trump deporting thousands of people every month?

People rapists and drug dealers should be killed en masse like daddy duterte does

Google felt the press they were getting from Boston Dynamics' videos were bad for Google. Hurr durr scary death machine DARPA google research. The last few pics of google internal robotics stuff has looked pretty wussy and harmless.

I've heard that Boston Dynamics' technology stack is totally different from what everybody else is using and it makes it very difficult to integrate with anybody else.

Google could not get all the robotics companies they purchased to work together. (see BD's different technology stack)

Basically Google lacked the vision and/or will to do anything with them.

Why was their sale allowed? One of the last winners of the DARPA robotics challenge was Schaft ?sp? from Japan, so BD, while impressive is not necessarily the most cutting edge thing out there. IIRC they got sold to a Japanese company.

Softbank have their fingers in everything.

I remember reading a year or so back that the billionaire gook that runs it had managed to set up a fund worth hundreds of billions of dollars for investing in emerging technologies and now every other 'moonshot' story seems to have their name in it.

This. Capitalism is a fucking joke. Strasser was right all along.

>bad press for replacing jobs

This

when will the state take possession of google

When they move to China to save money on programmers.

>selling weed should be a capital offense
fag

Just comb through the webpages about alphabet ibm and intel.

Japan has fallen so far behind BD when it comes to robotics that they decided to throw them a bone.

It's like as if white people are awesome. :^)

>Hurr durr scary death machine DARPA google research.
like that's any worse than the bad press they get for the other shit they do?

Right!? Nips should really stop trying.

No one cares about the intangible spy machine
People equate these robots to Terminator and shit

>Why was their sale allowed? One of the last winners of the DARPA robotics challenge was Schaft ?sp? from Japan, so BD, while impressive is not necessarily the most cutting edge thing out there. IIRC they got sold to a Japanese company

Then why haven't we seen anything meme-y or impressive from Japanese robotics companies when compared to BD? Do they keep their progress to themselves?

#1 BD seems to make those videos as a sales/marketing tool and they are a small company. I don't think the Japanese companies feel the need to do the same thing. Honda and asmov are a Japanese example - very refined corporate outreach. BD videos seem to be put together by a few guys in a warehouse.

#2 the small Japanese companies seem to do their own videos - you can google for Schaft/whatever and they pull up videos, but they are geekish technology demonstrators - the lay person does not understand how difficult what they are watching is. They never get any kind of social media traction.

Retards

>Do they keep their progress to themselves?
Based japs will take over the world and we will have free loli law

>why the US government would allow a foreign entity to buy
Why would they not dummy? It's a private company. If they had any secret knowledge it wouldn't be a private company
>America's most advanced robotics company?
Is it really though? Or is it just that their Youtube videos have the most views.
>why would Google/Alphabet let go of such a company
probably because. Again, getting a million views on Youtube doesn't mean you're the best or even profitable.

God, I wish robots weren't so fucking shitty. I'm about to graduate and would love to work in the field, but it's just such a fucking meme right now. BD makes the only halfway decent humanoid robot, and then what is there? The korean/japanese have been doing this for decades and they have fuck-all to show for it. They don't even seem interested in any useful applications, their collective cultural autism for some reason just loves robots.

mechanical robots with 15 minute battery life are stupid and will never be any good.

organic robots are where it's at. something that can power itself with food and water

1. Foreign entity pays for all research
2. US bans export of certain robot and AI research in the same way they banned export of >40bit encryption for years.
3. ????
4. Profit.

They are going to make cute doggos. Relax. Nothing to worry about.

want and need those govn AI robots.

also want this to be real.

Simple, it isn't actually America's most advanced robotics company.

keep the homeland clean of filth
