Welcome to hell motherfucker

Enjoy malaria

Well, it's not Sudan. I'll be in South Africa and Namibia relatively frequently.

>tfw

shameless self-bump

I am sorry for the callous and distinctively insulting response

I don't know about the rest of this continent but
>do not accept any unsolicited business or offers from the locals
>negotiate the absolute best possible accommodation and supplies from your employer
Assume zero reliance on the country. You'll appreciate the insulation
>observe the implicit curfew and avoid any unnecessary excursions, particularly slums
>obtain a knowledgeable and dependable intermediary to get you acquainted with everything and buffer the initial shock
>demand a 4x4 vehicle because there is no concept of reliable public transport
>keep some savings of USD in cash and enjoy being safe from inflation
>always maintain a degree of contact with the embassy
>maintain security or a firearm
>don't discuss politics with progovernment goons and read the political landscape lightly
>ensure adequate 24 7 medical services and try not to use the local medical system
>vaccines and whatnot
>make some useful contacts with connections as they can pull strings and come in handy

break the news to harmbe's parents lightly, will you

Welcome to Africa. I hope you having a nice hell year here in my continent. By the way, the map is wrong and is not including Iberia, we are Northest north Africa.

From what I understand and what I've heard Zambia is relatively stable and a lot of white South Africans are moving there for the business opportunity. I'll closely be working with some Chinese developers so I don't think I'll be able to avoid local government.

>>demand a 4x4 vehicle because there is no concept of reliable public transport
>>keep some savings of USD in cash and enjoy being safe from inflation
>>always maintain a degree of contact with the embassy

This is smart, I haven't thought of that. I did think about importing my f-150 there during my stay though kek.

>>make some useful contacts with connections as they can pull strings and come in handy

I do have connections currently with a few higher ups in the government of the larger cities. I can make that work in my advantage.

I want you to watch this. The entire thing. All of it. It'll show you what you're up for. Not trying to discourage you, just give you an idea.

It will require patience and a cool temperament. Everything is slow, everything can be bought. Don't trust anyone. Get to know the place and before you know it you will be having fun. Oh and take mosquitoes seriously. They will fuck you up even if they don't give you malaria.

Oh yes I've seen that. I won't be dealing much with Zambians thank God. Mostly Chinese.

I have been to SA several times, mostly Jozi and the surrounding areas. Do Zambians act any different? SA seemed like everyone was holding something on their chest.

>everyone was holding something on their chest.
how so?

Sorry, I'm a bit distracted at the moment. Wasn't the right use of words.

Everyone just seemed to have a vibe around them that they are spaced from everyone else. Not much dialog in a way, sort of closed off to one another. But it seemed like at any moment a fine situation could turn just terrible.

Zambians tend to be more chilled and less racist than south Africans

>less racist than south Africans

Ah yes this is a huge concern for me. I am white as snow and a ginger. So I'm pretty sure I'll stick out like a sore thumb kek.

Lmao

But that Eddie guy did nothing and Congo was fucked up by the cold war and it's shirts leaders policy as well as being the battleground of two wars.

holy shit good luck

It's fucking sweet.

You will get enough money to live like a king, you will miss no luxuries from home except various food items. You will experience things that suburban sheep can't even imagine.

Dunno your exact situation, but that's basically how it is for most Westerners livinf out here.

Go to /trv/ if you want travel tips.

At least I'll be able to take the heat since I'm a Texan farm boy, but geez Zambia is like 99% black.

>this same leftist Canadian who doesn't understand that the Chinese guy wasn't mad at Eddie (they are friends according to the website) but at the people Eddie represents (Congolese).

Why are you scared of malaria? If you have a few euros you just take the meds and go to bed for 3 days, enjoy the hallucinations, and carry on as normal.

It's only a big deal if you can't afford medication.

I'll be paid comfortably for sure.

Thinking of doing some investing of my own there because of the massive Chinese interest.

That's far too complex for anyone to digest

>hallucinations
fugg yeah

Investing is risky, but can be lucrative. There are so many gaps in the market in most African countries, all ripe for making serious returns, that aren't exploited because a lack of startup capital, expertise or equipment. But the reason they aren't being exploited by big business is because the environment is so sketchy and insecure. Be careful and never trust anything to go as planned.

If you have money, even a pitiful amount by Western standards, you can live a great life in most African countries.

Does that somehow excuse the fact the Congo has been in control of its own destiny for 66 years now?

Yes but then you have to live around third world Africans.

Just so that I'm clear I mean the black people are less racist. Wear shoes everywhere

I've heard about that yeah. I know someone who is making a tampon factory in Zambia due to the lack of them in the area. Interesting.

How much do you think one could spend to live a luxurious life there?

Not really. If I want to (I dont) I can spend all week among other expats, socialising, drinking and eating in smart places, watching great satellite TV, good speed internet and what have you. It's the same in any major city on the continent.

>Wear shoes everywhere

Wouldn't not do that kek

Prepare for a tiresome experience.

topkek

Lived a few years in Zambia. Literally zero negative experiences with the blacks.

I doubt it

Kek

Can you tell me more about your time there? How was the overall experience? Will you there for work?

Dude expats can live in a bubble totally divorced from the entire nation they live in like a bizarro pseudo-ghetto.

If this wasn't a thing do you really fucking think people would take jobs in poor countries for NGO's or companies?

That's like bitching at the Chinese for destroying their culture and purging of intellectuals instead of the PRC.

It's been a thing since the 1800s at least

Earlier if you take trade posts into consideration.

Expats live in walled properties. Not sure if it's the same outside the capital. 4m electrified walls are common. You will mostly mingle with your countrymen and other western expats. Post from PO boxes. Milk in bags like in Canada.

You can celebrate American holidays with your fellow Americans.

How does one "destroy culture"?

So I can do that in Somalia?

i was a peace corps volunteer in zambia, but in the east. In the north where you'll be misewell be a western country in terms of the development. Zambia is having horrible economic problems now though, very peaceful, but when people start starving that shit changes real fast.

>How does one "destroy culture"?
Visit the midwest and you will understand

Just don't be that stereotypical white guy in Africa who parades around like he owns the place or is some king.

I've spoken to a couple of my middle class friends in Nigeria, Ghana, Namibia and Zambia, and they all say how most people hate those kinds of smug white tourists or "expats". Apart from that, you should be okay if you are respectful and smart.

evryone itt is retarded non nigger is going to ndola, fucking expat city number one. thousands of expat communities/gates communities and what not around, mainly due to mining industry. loads of european doctors, teachers and no malaria, locals only purpose there is to serve whites. only tip I have is to be careful with all the local hookers, instead find yourself an english speaking high school/uni girl from lusaka. good luck enjoy one of the more boring parts of africa

Okay chocolate bar
