32GB RAM with 500GB Hard drive

64gb RAM with 250MB hard drive

who even needs storage it's a meme

>not running you whole OS on a 256GB RAM disk.

RAM is storage :^)

...

buy the least amount of ram you can get away with now and hope for better (cheaper) days to come.
on the other hand, that extra money can probably get you a 128mb cache 7200 rpm 4tb harddrive.

I'm between the following

128 GB ram on 256byte storage

should have mentioned its a brand laptop.
those are all scams in the value for money department anyway so buy whatever looks best.

Which of these has at least 4 actual cores? I'm sick of the eternal dual core "''''''''''i7'''''''''''' Especially with Ryzen laptops in store now with 8 threads.

Just buy a gaming desktop and a cheap chromebook for travel which you will never actually do and then you'll just be a pleb gaming on a laptop

16GB RAM with 1TB SSD

WWWWWHEEEEEEREEEEE ARE THE WATER COOLER DEALS

this has been a shit day for computer parts
hope to god cyber monday is better cause this was disappointing

it won't be, cyber monday is always worse

I need a PS2 controller. You guys think I can find a cheap new one?

>food analogy

Don't get your expectations up

No

That entirely depends on what you want to do with your laptop, but in general I would say that 2 TB with 8 GiB is better, because it's cheaper to add another 8 GiB stick than it is to replace the 1 TB laptop HDD with a 2 TB one, although that is only true if the laptop comes with a single 8 GiB stick and an empty slot.

Generally the processors that end in U are the dual-core ones, such as i7-7500U, while the ones that end in HQ or MQ are the quad-core ones. You should always google the name of the CPU tho, just to be sure.

I considered this myself.
I'm a pleb when it comes to stuff like that and don't trust myself to buy from right people to add more RAM.
How much typically would another 4-8GB cost?
And like I said, I don't know what I'm doing, I know it should be simply popping the bottom off and popping in another 4-8GB circuit board, but can or will Best Buy do this for me?

thinkpad with egpu

Honestly I don't know that much about it either. When I got my 8 GiB laptop, I opened it and saw that it has an empty slot and a single 8 GiB stick, so I googled the model number of the RAM and got an identical one for a discount from some random dude who was selling it nearby.

This one which would be the best if I could add another 8gbs says "Memory slot not user accessible"
Does that mean just "Don't do it yourself", "Take it to a professional", or "Not expandable"

The HP site
support.hp.com/us-en/document/c05791279
says

Memory, standard: 8 GB DDR4-2133 SDRAM (1 x 8 GB)

Expansion slots: 1 multi-format SD media card reader

So does that mean the only open slot at all on it the slot for the SD card and that there isn't another slot open inside for RAM?

>Memory slot not user accessible
Pic related, apparently laptop manufacturers are huge pieces of shit. I guess the reason I could upgrade mine is that it's a gaming laptop, so it's gonna have to cater to the gaymer crowd by being upgradable. Here's the full thread btw: h30434.www3.hp.com/t5/Notebook-Hardware-and-Upgrade-Questions/HP-15-f039wm-laptop-memory-upgrade/td-p/4549448
>Expansion slots: 1 multi-format SD media card reader
It's pretty retarded for them to consider the SD card reader an expansion slot. Anyway, I have the feeling that this laptop's RAM would be unupgradable too. If I were you, I'd go for the 16 gig laptops, because having more ram is probably more important than having a ton of storage in terms of future proofing, unless you like hoarding data, and you probably won't be able to get an upgradable laptop in this price range.

>eating cars

>not asking this in /sqt/

Why would you run something off a disk in 2018

Go for the gold my boy, bag a 12TB HDD and 32GB of ram. You'll be set for a long long time.

Could any of you describe how much of a real difference there is between
12GB RAM and 16GB RAM other than hurr 4GB of RAM?

IT Support everyone

Me: What really is the difference between 8GB RAM and 16GB RAM

Her:You will have 8GB difference if you choose 16GB memory compare to 8GB. That would be 8000MB difference.

It'll take slightly longer for you to realize that Firefox is leaking memory.

depends on what you're using it for. the average person using their computer for streaming netflix and playing vidya doesn't need more than 8 GB ram. if you're doing like video editing or something then you'll want more RAM (but will probably end up needing more storage too so you can put all of those video files somewhere)

Which makes better graphics card
Intel or AMD, or does it really not matter?

I want to be able to open as many browser tabs as I fucking want.
I don't play any games on my laptop, but I'd like to have the option, I'm especially interested in playing PUBG and checking out a few steam games, and in the future any game I want.
I want to be able to transfer files to different places on my PC fast or to my externals.
I don't use it, but I'd like to try using Sony Vegas and Photoshop.
I want all my programs to start up fast, especially Word.

I also don't want to have to replace my laptop for another 5-6 years.

Do I really need 16GB to do all that, or am I good at 8GB?

Goddamn you burgers make me jelly. It's basically impossible to find a decent black friday deal on any computer components in UK. The only thing with discounts is fucking tvs basically.

This is good deal?

>cyber monday is always worse
Consumer Reports proved that wrong

More RAM

HDD space is cheap as shit. Like

This is a horrible analogy.

If thats the case which is better

Depent in what you do, porn and games 2tb
something work related 16 gb ram.

yes goy

Thanks you
I purchase it

holy shit no how bad is your taste

Should I blow my load on all these black friday deals I'm seeing, or should I wait till January for Vega 56/64?

What the fuck is your screen resolution?

You don't know much about computers, do you? The choice here is REALLY clear.

Hint: Look at the GPU.

2560x1600

What kind of poor pathetic loser are you if you have to use literal spinning discs of rust to store files.

Solid state all the way :).

Yeah, I grabbed a 1050 ti for 140 after rebate today because I didn't think I would find a better deal anytime soon.

So you were zoomed in like 80% just to take that screenshot? what the fuck

No, Corsair's website is just like that desu

Like I asked before, which is truly better and why
The Intel HD Graphics 620
or
The AMD Radeon 530 Graphics?

Or better yet

Which is better
A Laptop thats mostly plastic with Intel HD Graphics for around $750
or
A Laptop thats seems more sturdy with AMD graphics for around $700?

Good anal-ology.

Reread it, moron. user's analogy checks out.

Get 16GB. I regularly go above 8, but I've only gone about 16 *once*, and that was while opening multiple VMs to see how far I could go.

Go AMD.

If you can wait, then wait. 2018 has quite a bit of amazing tech incoming. Spend your waiting time doing research & following industry news.

What do you think about benQ xl2411 for 219€?

internal hard drive or external hard drive

16GB with 1TB

Unless you're a hoarder or you have a shitty internet connection that you can't download stuff at any point in time it's enough.

Depends on what you want to do. I thought 8GB is standard by now. 16GB is still kind of overkill, IMO. But if you like playing newer vidya gayman titles then it'll probably help. I'd say 8GB 2TB tho.
