Good question! I don't really know why I didn't torrent it. I never got into torrenting much, and I felt like that would attract more attention from my ISP than I already do. I'm sure that there are some workarounds, such as using a VPN, etc etc. Honestly, this just seemed like a quick and dirty solution. Quick and dirty solutions make the world spin round!

Pretty much just use it to get music; either full albums in a video or a playlist of an album. If there's some kind of tutorial I want to follow on youtube I will use it to get the playlist as well; more efficient to batch download and watch from my harddrive then loading up the site again and streaming each time I get back into the tutorial.

You can change the naming scheme with -o flag, read it in manual. But that isn't flexible enough. I'm using either Emacs's Dired or Ranger's bulkrename to mass-rename files. It opens list of filenames in editor, you can rename them like text file (e.g. use macros) and save the buffer to rename files.
Funnily, is some countries person who downloads doesn't commit a crime, only the one who uploads. Torrent is tricky with the upload nature.

OP here, I set up a DLNA server last night, and streamed it to my large TV. I didn't notice any poor quality. In fact, my family remarked that the quality was better than Netflix.
I'm still trying to figure out the right way to make streamlink deal with disconnects either on client and host side.
Need it to keep trying to reconnect and needs to either append new data to the old file or needs to generate a new file with different file name automatically to prevent overwriting. Trying to automate shit so I can get good audio for remuxing later when I'm not home to watch stuff. I'm awful with coding and scripting so easier said than done though.
