It's not even close to the same extent, but the regions seriously are very different

States not exactly, but regions do. New England is nothing like the Pacific Northwest.

Okay for fucking real European countries have diverse subnational cultures
what make America special
Germans never talk about their areas

Let's not be ridiculous, now.

Countries like:
Spain and Portugal
Italy and France
Sweden, Norway, Denmark and Finland
Czech Republic, Slovakia, Poland
Germany, Switzerland, Austria, the Netherlands, Luxembourg and Belgium

Don't have big cultural differences either

Even so, there's at least 4 major US culture groupings.
Yankee
Dixie
Afro-American
Texan

outside of the US everyone calls Americans Yanks we don't care about your made up """"cultures"""" you all speak English and you are all fat

>people prefer different brands of fast food and soda

New England was built on textiles & fishing, the Midwest on heavy industry & farming.

New England pushed for Prohibition, the Midwest opposed it.

New England was historically liberal, the Midwest was socialist.

New England was settled by British & Irish, the Midwest by Germanics and Slavs.

And Poles are drunk, poor, and stupid like pretty much all Slavs, but we take the time to differentiate you from Russians because you'll get butthurt otherwise.

Witnessed

Even our own regions in Europe have their own culture, why murricans hadn't?
You guys are just circlejerking

>Accents totally different

yeah totally a culture defining trait

jesus

""""""culture"""""" became such a dilluted buzzword in post colonial countries

there is no point in even discussing, you just don't get that actual cultures around the world are based mostly on ethnicity and language

>Midwest sounds more Canadian
No.

> Poland, Czech Rep, Lithuania or Russia aren't all the same.
Why we are still SO poor then?

it's because US is really big and they try to make it look not all the same while in reality every city in the US looks all the same, no matter if you look at Anchorage or Houston

You do to us, Roger.

t. Texan

Both the U.S. and European countries have regional cultures. The difference is that Europeans get extremely butthurt and pretend the former don't exist.

This. Canadians sound like more like West Coasters, imo.

>Czech Republic, Slovakia, Poland
what's even the cultural similarity between those countries? we don't feel any bond between us, we probably feel much more related to the Ukrainians and Belarussians

> Accents totally different
not an argument
Even fucking Slovenia has different dialects.

>Germans never talk about their areas
Because Germany is the size of two US states and USA is so big that over the last couple hundred years people living in different areas started doing their own shit, and now there is an obvious difference in americans from different areas.

YES! I'M GONNA BE ON REDDIT!

Wrong, or at the very least simplistic.

This is the right answer. /thread

> Germany, Switzerland, Austria, the Netherlands, Luxembourg and Belgium
Even German states and regions have very different cultures. France and Italy too.

yep this is a culture defining trait in a post-colonial cultureless soulless egoistic artificial political construct called the "United States of America"

only minnesotan actually, when i watched fargo i coulda swore it was somewhere in canada

Rude

This tbqh buds

> Germans never talk about their areas
what?

East Coast and West Coast cities don't look alike at all, lad. The former were built around walking/trains where the latter were built around cars and freeways. Eastern cities were built upwards, western were built outwards.

And if we had a thread about the different regions of Slovenia, it wouldn't be full of ass-ravaged Euro-peons pretending they were identical

Germany has extremely diverse & strong regional identities.

>poor
>culture defining trait
so Poland is the same as Thailand I guess?

Fargo is in North Dakota, not Minnesota

And Canadians don't talk like that, only within a few miles of the border

Eastern Yurop BTFO

The far north midwesterners from Wisconsin and Michigan tend to sound Canadian

>so Poland is the same as Thailand I guess?
Who's saying it isn't? :^)

>Fargo is in North Dakota, not Minnesota
yeah but the accent is still called minnesotan accent, no? minesotans talk just like that

>East Coast and West Coast cities don't look alike at all, lad. The former were built around walking/trains where the latter were built around cars and freeways. Eastern cities were built upwards, western were built outwards.
no, they look identically - soulless highrise modernist boxed spammed all over them

it's just the cores of the East Coast cities were built still by actual Europeans

That doesn't matter to that type of personality. Sigh...

>in reality every city in the US looks all the same
I know Pollacks being retarded is an old running gag but it rings true even in modern times.

no one so let's just say the only countries with "different cultures" are the US and other Anglos and Western Europe right?

But again, anglo countries don't have any culture at all

I hear more in common with California or Pennsylvania and Canada than with the Midwest.

>no, they look identically
You need to get your eye's checked then friend,
>soulless highrise modernist boxed spammed all over them
So your complaint is about modern architecture, something present in every major city in the world? wew.

>The difference is that Europeans get extremely butthurt and pretend the former don't exist

Yes, on Sup Forums apparently. But most of them just never visited the US.
They think you have no culture because of your brainwashed-always the same story-edited by holywood movies that you send there in mass.

It can be confusing, Tbh.
But beside this propaganda, of course your states/region aren't the same. you just have to go there to realize.

Maybe most Euros just see you throught their clichés tho.

They really don't, it's much more subtle

The only people who do are for, whatever reason, exaggerating it
The Minnesotan accent that is

But yes people from Fargo sound "Minnesotan"

Please do not liken us to our hat

Manitoba and Alberta are GOAT but the rest are kinda meh

Much history
Many culture
wow

people call it the Minnesota accent and it does stretch into the dakotas (pic related its the North Central, thats what linguists call it)

yeah i really like that accent its sweet, sound like the friendliest people in the world

>Even German states and regions have very different cultures. France and Italy too.
This meme needs to stop, the only big differences that one can observe are between certain macro-areas (Occitanie VS Northern France, Süddeutschland (+Austria and Switzerland) VS Norddeutschland, Northern Vs Southern Italy and even then the differences are usually folkloristic and don't reflect anymore the present.

Apart from that, regional differences between the various regions usually don't go further than culinary differences and different dialects.
The French and we Italians have the same interests, eat the same breakfast, have the same religion and the same political orientation.

The only reason why people keep bitching about "muh nation is different" is just for dumb rivalries.

A milanese can move to Paris without feeling any cultural shock whatsoever.

Catholic, influenced by Germany, use the latin script, anti-russian, slav.

Just like all the US states are obsessed by fast food, am i rite?

Thought they called it the "sing-song dialect". It's funny how Norwegian it sounds.

>sound like the friendliest people in the world
Got that right

Many Minnesotans and Eastern-North Dakotans came from Sweden/Norway

>Please do not liken us to our hat

But the people from northern Wisconsin are as incredibly boring as Canadians. Its not our fault the hat leaked its likeness across the border.

different regions call it different things, I call it Minnesota. Linguists don't call it shit like that in general although because accents and dialects in America are still developing they call different accents/dialects different things. As an example my accent is Hudson Valley English to me but lingusts call it either Western New England or Eastern North or Hudson Valley.

That actually makes sense. Bloomington is like 50% out of state students. Those smaller Indiana places are more representative of the dialects in the region.
