>he needs fancy visuals while listening to music

I'm picturing OP sitting there staring at an album cover the entire time the album plays.

No, but album art is part of the work as a whole. You are missing part of the experience if you do not familiarize yourself with the album art.

>you are missing part of the experience if you do not familiarize yourself with the album art
That's some pretty cool bullshit you just made up, user. Take my (You).

ncmpcpp+mpd

Not even close.

I just use mpv.

Maybe not for the normie shit you listen to, but album art is an important part of the overall aesthetic.

Get yourself a visualizer and/or open a picture while you are listening to music, is much much better and I am not saying that just because.

>baby's first crescendo

AmaroK 1.4, Clementine

Both of those are terrible and do not come close to Musicbee

github.com/clementine-player/Clementine/issues/5344

It doesnt run in linux though...

Sure. Spotify for Linux. It's native. If you want something that doesn't rely on 'the cloud', you might like Clementine.

thats the point nothing is as good

>thats the point

My car doesnt fly like an airplane either.

cmus

If you have a big hi-res PCM /DSD collection like me (>2tb) anything except Jriver Media Centre 23 for linux is complete shit and you all are a bunch or poor fag plebs who wont drop $40 and support something really special (here try a .deb)

yabb.jriver.com/interact/index.php/topic,112987.0.html

>hi-res PCM /DSD collection
Way to fall for a meme retard.

oh look its that guy again

forgot to paste that one xiph.org article this time around ?

>fucking xiphposters

You can't double blind that shit. Just rip to 16-bit FLAC like a sane human being for archival purposes.

You have a point with Amarok 1.4.10 in terms of performance (especially config'd with mysql), but large collections (>100k tracks) bring Clementine to its knees.

xmms

More functional? Like playing more music?

Fuck off punk i am so sick of your 16bit shit, i wast even making an argument for le sound quality meme ! I was saying if you have a large hires collection >2tb jriver manages it better than anything i have used on linux because of the way it reads raw sacd .iso files and wavepack .cue files are sorted and handled by the library amongst a million other things

>raw sacd .iso files and wavepack .cue files
All terrible meme formats. Rip to a sane audio codec.

>luddite detected
>probably thinks .mp3 is just dandy

Sup Forums is technology and technology is progress

why are you against progress ? why are you anti Sup Forums ?

Nice strawman. I said "sane audio codec." Tell me why you're using that garbage instead of something simple like FLAC.

- auto-dj
- monitor your folders
- audioscrobbling
- tagging from Internet
- filter your music by rating, play count, genre

MP3 320kbps *IS* just dandy. No audible difference from FLAC, plus best compatibility with things like car mp3 decks, sansa clip, et cetera.

i use sacd .iso because flac isnt a container for 6 channel DSD

i use .wv (wavepack) because flac doesnt support 32/768 PCM (like this)

rutracker.org/forum/viewtopic.php?t=5407471

i am not making any argument about sound quality... audio is lifelong hobby and i like constantly pushing the limits into new territory i learn alot.

back in the 00's i thought 10 and 20 megabyte .png and .tiff image files were a total wank and now vanilla cover art included with vinyl rips i download is > 100mb .... progress ! yah future ;)

>6 channel
99.9% of music is in stereo with the exception of some meme albums in surround sound. Useless bloat.

>32/768 PCM
Also pointless bloat. Neither the bitrate nor the sample rate are necessary.

>i like constantly pushing the limits into new territory i learn alot.
You aren't pushing any limits. You're just falling for retarded encodes.

(You) must be real fun at parties....

You know nothing about oscilation do you? More sample rate, more darkness.

Because people at parties want to hear you yap about meme encodes.

kek

Guayadeque and Clementine are pretty bloated.

I like gmusicbrowser.

won't tell the difference with logishit speakers
its just a known fact that during compression mp3 loses quality because they're making the file smaller
meanwhile flac doesn't so you are keeping the very original recorded sound

nice straw man
I didn't say mp3 doesn't lose quality. I said there's no audible difference at 320kbps.

cmus

This.

depends on your hardware, a decent sound system goes a long way

The study cited used a pretty fucking high-end audio system and literally professional audio engineers listening.

>Maybe not for the normie shit you listen to
>posts babbys first postrock

I just use clementine

That's a really old study. The black magic that goes into DACs have come along way in the past few years. I thought I knew it all but I only started hearing the difference between MP3 and 16bit bit flac and then that difference again with good 24bit master tape rips when I non-ironically bought an iPhone 6 and then a DAP.

I could barely here the difference with encodes with my FireWire soundcard and iPhone 4. As I said things got really good just recently. I can hear the difference with modern equipment and newer meme phones. I thought I knew it all. I was wrong.

Yeah gmusicbrowser is the only sane gui music player.

The layout customization is a very nice feature

>is there a music player for linux
How would you even make a music player for a kernel, and why would you do that?

This musicbee of yours looks like shit desu.
Can I save playlists? Can I switch easily between them? Does it have dynamic playlists? Does it have mine all time favorite "stop after this song" feature?

ncmpcpp

>musicbee
But user, it has over the top visual elements.
Reminder that aimp + neo groover = godly player
I would have used groove music desu if it had last fm integration
>spoiler
fuck, i am retarded

emacswiki.org/emacs/MusicPlayers

Cmus

>How would you even make a music player for a kernel, and why would you do that

whhhhaaaaaat ?

> almost all audio devices are supported by the kernel
> what is C code portability ?

brainlet detected hand in your Sup Forums card and go back to that re - edit site

>audio devices and music players are the same thing.
Wew

>2k17
>lastfm
kek'd

the best player is foobar
too bad its development died.

lol of course not. actually, this is the only reason I'm using Windows instead of Linux as my daily OS

that's fucking baby shit, of course it has all of these features

le aesthetics are for artists meme
please, go boil and eat one of your dragon dildos.

Well I don't see any of these

How do I grouped albums, lol?
Also, it doesn't stay in the tray?
Yeah, I get it now, it's a troll thread, I got trolled. Fuck you.

>Well I don't see any of these
so open your fucking eyes
Yeah, I get it now, it's a troll thread, I got trolled. Fuck you.

what's the most based ncmpcpp config out there? I need a good setup guys.

>Not using every program in English as it should be.
Zabij się

>it's a troll thread
>the current state of Sup Forums
really makes you think

>Spotify
What, it Suppports local libraries?
>Check their wiki for local files support
>Spotify supports .mp3, .mp4, and .m4p files. It doesn’t support .mp4 files that contain video, or the iTunes lossless format (M4A)
>Note: Files or downloads from illegal sources are not permitted.

Holy moly. Not only does it not support any sane format, it also tries to play moral police and try to fuck with you? What are they gonna do, stab me?

a testo to nasz pan xD

Cantata + mpd

>not only can i hear the difference between CD and MP3, I can hear the difference between CD and 24 bit.

literally unbelievable. gtfo
