still too poor to afford anything :^(

didn't buy anything, no great deals and I don't really need anything, although might have pulled the trigger on a gtx1080 if I found a good deal.

wtf you need all those for

4k porn

so that's all 2.75tb.
you are aware that you can get 3tb 3.5" drives for like $50 now right?

wait nvm just noticed that the big sticker was an ad for their cloud trash

not op but each one is 8tb

Fuck black friday and all consumer holidays

>11 x 8tb - 2.75tb

It was well. I got in on the deskstars a week or so ago so I didnt have any need to do blackfriday.
if i had a bb then it might have been a different story, but I did avoid tax gouging.

...

For what purpose?

probably gonna resell them tbqh

Are you going to open all of them and put in a real NAS?

How much did you pay for each?

I'm not OP I'm just saying that' probably his plan

since I can't imagine who else would need that much storage

$130 each

they retail for $300

it'd make more sense to buy a large case with lots of drive bays. how many USB ports do you have? are motherboards even equipped to power that many USB devices at once?

Well.. I suppose you could try to sell them to someone who doesn't realize that they're on Best Buy for $150

People don't NEED it, but they sure as hell do find a way to use it. OP's pic isn't even that big of a haul. They aren't reselling it.

The $130 drive are white label and don't have the same resale value as the actual Reds that the $150 ones are. White labels have no retail sale except for in externals.

/thread.
pure cancer which has made them jack up prices for every other day of teh year.

those drives are going to be shucked. They contain 8tb wd reds

thats another reason I went with deskstars this season. I dont know much about the white labels, arnt they refurbs?
the main reason I went hgst is the god tier reliability and 7200rpm.

You dumb nigger, that yellow sticker is not the drive capacity

They're almost the same drive as the HGSTs though. You paid more for a longer warranty basically.

>tfw IQ is the empty set

almost the same.
I have much love for wd aswell.

The 3TB and 1TB drives aren't the same. Those are 100% WD. It wasn't until recently with these larger drives that they've been just rebranding HGST.

good to know, thanks

Got a R5 1600 and RX 570, missed some better deals. but whatever.

I've never heard of any warranty on a shucked drive.

Stop being consumerist whores

If you aren't an ape you can open these and reseal them as if they've never been shucked. You can just return them normally afterwards. Also people have just sent the shucked drive without the enclosure with success too.

So he can store his CP.

I bought 8 of those 7 months ago. 64tb in raid0 4tw.

>tfw insecure about IQ so make jokes that are really just excuses to flaunt knowledge of elementary mathematical concepts

i see them on ebay for less than $200 all the time

>although might have pulled the trigger on a gtx1080 if I found a good deal.
what would have been a good deal for you? I got a gtx1080 for $440 on newegg

>flaunt knowledge
Nice projection.
Now back to /sci/.

Lmao, gl trying sell them for even $200

Who the fucks gonna buy em?

is it normal for new drives to make a periodic clicking noise even before you put a filesystem on them?
to me this sounds like the click noise that signals "time to replace the drive"

You have to give it back, Jamal.

I bought 8 of these. Are you shucking them or selling?

get I get some advice on this, 2/3 of my new hgst deskstars are clicking every 5 seconds. when I put my hand on them I can feel when it clicks, its like a little thud.

what does smart say?

nothing yet. I literally just opened them.
I got them mounted, plugged them in, and its click every 5 seconds.
I just made a filesystem on one and its still clicking.

...

>HUH728080ALE601

They're not putting UltraStars in WD external cases and selling them for $130 you retard. Those are $250 disks.

>88 TB of garbage storage devices
>gaymen laptop
I suggest a RAID 0 setup for you

My two old hitachi drives made a terrible screeching noise every few minutes, since they were brand new
They still work fine and show no smart issues

>Those are $250 disks.

Oh, you mean the same price that WD Reds retail for too?

>mfw this is either a redditor posting on our board or some shitlord that saved some redditors picture

I snagged one deal, a pair of he-400i for 200 bucks
dont really need anything else perfectly happy with my 1600 and 290 desu

reddit.com/r/DataHoarder/comments/7f40er/ahem/

You'd be right

This is normal and acceptable behavior to you?

>tfw Sup Forums is now the reddit shitposting colony

Sup Forums is the facebook shitposting colony.
If you think this site is worth a shit anymore you're either new or delusional.
this is one of the only decent threads on the catalog. If this is too low of quality for you then feel free to go back to the hourly "fell for the 16gb of ram meme" thread.

well I managed not to kill myself, so I guess that's an accomplishment

you better be planning to RAID 0 all fucking eleven of those for your home server your faggot, otherwise you've basically just sunk 1500$ into a pile of hot steaming garbage

>WD blue
heretical

>raid0
>bait

I hear that's one of the reasons for the white labels. So that people can't shuck them and sell them as (retail) reds. Because when buyers tries to take WD up on the red warranty, WD replies "lol no, you got shucked."

does the term white label just apply to wd drives or does it apply to hgst aswell?

You better run these babies in Raid 0

bump

There ain't 8tb WD Blues.

you know WD owns HGST...

Got kindle fire 7's for 30 bucks on amazon for my grandparents.
