>550mb/8gb RAM is bloat
Lets see your usage then, no shutting down programs
>3GB/16GB is bloat
I'm not a ramlet, why should I care
my void xfce install had 200mb usage
Woah, you saved 200mb and now you have an undocumented and crippled system. Congratulations, you really needed that extra 200mb.
Any good guide to replacing resource hungry gnome with something else?
Also how the fuck to i manage ram on Ubuntu 17. I get the Linux ram usage, it's just that I open 10 tabs in Firefox and I'm hitting slow af swap or cache. I'm regularly freezing due to HDD usage despite 4 gigs of ram, it's pretty infuriating. Medium Firefox and transmission literally freezes the system due to what I assume are random reads. Is there a way to improve scheduling?
I'm fucking annoyed that simple af desktop needs constant random reads that freeze the system until hard reboot.
ted as fuck, dude.
is that stali?
What Bob Ross painting is that on your wallpaper?
nope. Alpine.
firefox is bloat
You don't say. Fucking debian flavors come without A FUCKING COMPILER ootb. My gentoo machine uses about 100M with a browser running.
send nudes
> pop os
Btw if this is running on a system 76 laptop you'll get intel me disabled soon
Yeah, it's comfy to stay under 200mb with void.
link wallpaper asap
Did ubports become famous in germany all of a sudden? (not that i dislike this) I've seen a bunch of people that are posting from their ubuntu phones today and their phones are all in german.
MODS
>1861 packages
What's the problem, sweetheart?
ramlet
hhey thats not u
post butt pls ;-;
But that's not anyone
So you are saying that a terminal is lighter than a terminal + browser?
Good catch
>tfw 5GB used out of 16GB on Windows 10
Feels good not to be a RAMlet
>Windows 10
Too bad you're a brainlet
debian
virtualbox
>using a outdated and feature-less DE to save 78mb of RAM
yes. not everyone has the opportunity to install loonix on their actual laptop. If I could, I would.
WTF I LOVE WINDOWS 10 - I MEAN - UBUNTU WITH XFCE NOW
What doesn't allow you to?
bro, can you record how you Ryzen 5 1600 perform under linux? pls
Need some proprietary programs that don't work on Loonix.
A link to amazon that is deleted in 2 clicks vs a sophisticated datamining operator with links to crappy F2P games built in.
Impressive Linux People.
>not making use of your hardware
>user thinks i'm impressive
What's even the purpose of these threads?
Do you guys really need to post your screenfetch every thread in hope someone cares?
yes
>desktop environment
Literal bloat. You don't need anything but a WM
>tfw unriced i3 that works well but looks shit for screenfetch threads
This. i3 or dwm
Rice it, it's not hard. You need help?
Nice wallpaper = not bloated garbage
explain yourself
Yeah, I'd like help on this. I just don't know where to begin. I changed a couple keybindings, but that's it. I have no clue what software everyone uses or how they go about configuring everything.
Is there a wiki or website on ricing i3?
it's norvegian
>generic stateme-
>picture.png
please complete your sentence OP
>looks shit for screenfetch threads
I think it looks pretty nice
ted.
Yes, your pic proves that.
pls respond
everone else has really nice i3 setups though
Nice user, care to post pape?
gonna need some configs user
That's nearly twice as much as Solus(Budgie) and on top of it it's xfce lmao
How do you even manage to use that browser?
Most of the pages get fucking scrambled as fuck, actually on Sup Forums and my personal webpage look OK on it, just because they're proper HTML.
Even stuff such ar Arch/Parabola wiki looks atrocious on it, and DDG is just ultra-ugly there.
a-am I doing it right?
I don't know why there's so many packages when I've barely anything installed
> Get i3 gaps
> edit .config/i3/config
>profit
i3 is one of the simplest WM's to config. The documentation is clear and easy to follow and the config file is super simple. Put some effort in. This is basic reading comprehension.
>using the smiley with the carat nose
because ubuntu mate is a just werks distro and it comes pre packaged with nearly everything you will ever need so you can just install and forget.
if you want to autistically configure every single aspect of your OS from the ground up and then post a screenfetch of your 300 packages with 200 MB of ram usage to Sup Forums so you can feel better about yourself then install arch or void.
dont go on those sites
Manjaro just werks out of the box and comes with 800 packages
and the cutest
lol you say it's not bloated but you have 1800+ packages installed. I bet my arch install has the same amount of functionality as yours, except with 1/3rd the packages
>>dec 02 22:15
do you live in singapore or something?
>he doesn't use MATE or Xfce
Gib wallpaper and i3 config files
Ubuntu is a good system, I used it forever, I didn't even install arch I use install scripts so it works out of the box, installed it the "arch way" once and was like "who the fuck would do this?"
Arch has never been a minimalist distribution. Splitting packages is rare
compared to other distributions, and dependencies aren't made optional
whenever possible. Arch has *never* been minimalist... a Linux kernel with every module
available and every feature enabled at least when there's no non-bloat
related cost, feature-packed/complex GNU tools, nearly all optional
features enabled across all the packages, etc.
Also the iso is 500mb, that's proof enough.
larbs.xyz
visit github page for more stuff
run a df -h and then tell me it isn't bloated
nigga the fuck you doing thats using up 1227 mb
This is with a few Sup Forums tabs open in furryfox.
>200mb
pretty bloated imo
>2500+ packages
B L O A T
I have 15+GiB free in my SSD. What's the problem?
Its just disgusting man, go back to windows or sumthing
I don't think Windows supports my hardware.
>installing software is bad
Installing unnecessary software is very very bad indeed. The point of gnu/linux is to have everything in your control. Making the most out of it. Not by installing bloat
The point of a computer is to use it however the fuck you want. If I want to install 2500+ packages and not use them I'll do it.
Protip: I use almost all of them
how do you get larbs working on void?
Do you just install the required packages and copy his config to mine? I tried his void config before and it didn't look this comfy.
Anyone know where I can install more RAM?
>the point is to have everything in your control
>SO DO WHAT I SAY
can I see your bar config?
press CTRL+L instead of entering 1 million times to clear the terminal.
1800 package
550 ram
it's really a fucking bloat
Is there any fairly simple to use DE that doesn't make firefox look like shite
I want to be able to have all in one bar: Menu button and whatever else, address bar, tabs, minimize/maximize and close.
I don't get why people think Arch is hard or a hassle to install. The pacstrap command does most of the shit for you.
pirate it.
posting from my Macbook Pro
Great seeing some non-RAMlets post for once
are those big screens comfy?
