No, but killing innocent Muslims in Iraq is.

Pillaging ships on highseas is bretty good, you should try that some time

Hollywood is bad. Just don't support them. But I think you should always support small time artists.

Piracy was started between private companies to boost their products' reach because they saw how much of a viable marketing strategy it is. It allowed people who wouldn't buy a product to test it properly, and decide if they actually wanted to buy it when they could.

Since the people who pirated things were initially people that wouldn't have bought them in the first place, the companies lost absolutely zero profit. Instead, the possibilities for even higher profits were achieved by giving these people the incentive to buy their software based on their experience with the pirated version.

No, piracy is not bad. It's just another marketing ploy which has proven to be very successful.

Bad when you do it to small/local businesses and companies
Good and encouraged to be done to huge tech companies.
If not people looking for ways to fight such piracy we wouldn't have steam and spotify and their competitors
Can't say the same for netflixes as it's very limited outside us, hopefully i'll be pirating enough to make a change

The power of the intellect is a gift from God, and those who abuse it are the real thieves. Intellectual property is an abomination and an insult to God. IP degenerates deserve death.

Not really. They should use other means of monetization.

Do you know what is bad? DRM.

>This guy still believed in a god
lmao does mommy still make you go to church faggot

Except that most independent artists advocate piracy and generally benefit from having their art circulated among such communities. Hate to break it to you, lads, but you fell for the propaganda.

Yes and no.
Piracy is quite good for some products, eg game of thrones but tv series in general, mid tier music artist, anime... But is really detrimental for video games, for small musical groups and it affect also great artists.

To be short, in some degree piracy can help to spread a product, but producers need to earn money from they work, so over a certain level it can become a huge problem! Consider piracy not to different from pubblicity, or a demo.

COntinue from Piracy is also extremely detrimental for porn. Some of my favourite woman stopped cause piracy.

This is mostly true for software and microsoft or adobe are a great example, but not really applicable for all.

For movies and series, people who weren't even gonna watch your movie for whatever reason, WILL watch it, and if you've done a good job, they will show their trust with their money on your next project. Same applies to music and videogames. People will go "yeah you know what, he's pretty good actually, I'll buy his album" or "damn, that game was pretty good, I'm gonna go on [insert platform here] and buy it to support the developer so he can make more great games like this one"

The only people who look down on piracy (from a producer's perspective) are people who know their work is shit and are afraid that whatever money they would get by people experimenting with their product, now they will never have.

>Some of my favourite woman stopped cause piracy.

What do they do now? Got a real job? lol

I'm not really sure. You vision is pretty naif, probably you are judging on the whole mankind based on your personal behaviours, or, at least, your small social group.

It's a fact that most people loves shit and litteraly don't care to support producers and developers. I'm 25 and I know lots of people that are fanatics about things that they considers "the best on earth" but they don't wanna pay for it.
Applefag with Hackintosh, music producers that earn money ( and not few ) from music made with pirate software, companyes that runs offices with just one genuine copy of microsoft office home on 15 computers, I've see people printing the cover of jurassic world to have "a nice dvd" to put on the bookshelf. And again, we are not talking about people that can't afford the original!

You can obviously think what you want, but I don't have any problem to admit that if i couldn't download lots of stuff for free, I would spend much more money for music, film and books. That are actually the only things I download, because pirate software it's pretty dumb, imho.

A couple of them have real job, one now have a graduation and actually a great job! Most are now camgirl or hookers though.

There is literally nothing wrong with piracy

Plus only commies think paying for things is a sin, most pirates will pay for something if they really like the arist or game dev

I wont

im a poorfag and im only 19 but ive always pirated stuff but eventually pay for things that are good, i got cracked css when i was like 8 eventually bought that after years of playing. never payed for ds games think the price of games ontop of a console when you habe poor as fuck parents is rediculous. Tbh if i couldnt torrent music id end up just listening to soundcloud and youtube which are both free i think its different depending on the person. I have used cracked adobe suite for years i wouldnt mind saving up and paying for it if you could actualy get a key which would last forever on the version you get but all the adobe programs are now a subscription service with hardly any major improvements over cs6 ( if there are any i havnt realised although i only use photshop these days). Now i have a bit of money im more likely to pay for vidya but i get the cracked one and buy the game once its on sale then port my saves over i think its stupid just blindly buying games these days since most big devs make shit games

the eu actually did a huge study into piracy and it hardly affects profit of the companies

Current Sumalia territory is not one, but two countries.

>innocent
>Muslims

Pick one Muhammad.

Studies show that pirates tend to spend way more on digital media than non-Pirates. This makes sense to me, as I can personally think of many instances where piracy led me to buy a game or a piece of software.

Murdering people and robbing them is bad. Sharing however is good.
t. Jesus Christ

It's not piracy it's counterfelt with no sale.
Not even unethical.

Who cares? It's easy, convenient and free.

I wouldn't mind buying content if the jews actually offered it at a price relative to what I fucking make. Valve had the right idea with selling games super cheap in Russia, since they would pirate them otherwise.
What doesn't make sense, though, is that they haven't done this in more markets. I know people who get like 400 Euros per month after taxes. Then it's rent, food and other necessary shit after which there's barely anything left. And then expecting those kinds of plebs to go and spend what little they got on some entertainment to drown out the sorrows of their shitty life? That's kind of cruel, famalam.

For governments yes, Spain for example wants to eradicate it and is all day long false flagging and going to court for simple tweets. I kid you not, they go for tweets like

> i hope you get raped by The pack
pack making reference to 4 guys that had sex with a girl and then the girl had regrets about it and reported them to the authorities all landing into prison without proves or sentence, just remember to always record your sexual interactions with a woman, not worth it to land in prison if she doesn't like it.

Ayyy Manolo, better not say anything Soraya or they'll take your football away too

*about

sometimes they take the sound out so we cant hear separatist shitting on the Spanish anthem.

holy shit you just blew him the fuck out oh my god

I was once harassed about piracy by my ISP (and had to call them to have my service restored) and the reason was I torrented an episode of a tv show on a cable network that I pay for so it was under fair use. But because I didn't do their on demand shit that has unskipable ads they threw a giant hissy fit.

Seriously pic related should not be a fucking thing

This. I've bought quite a few games I pirated becaues those games were actually worth my time.

I'm utterly terrible about supporting movies (outside of the box office anyways) and tv shows though.

This

Is this a native VoD service or this TV time-shift thing?
nonetheless it fucking sucks

It's unethical and illegal but i like getting free shit. Trying to fill a 1tb hd with movies

This was just a pick I found but it represents what I'm talking about where the cable system will have a free on demand for when you miss something but they go and disable any fast forward functionality to force you to watch the ads. What sucks then is if you accidentally stop it and it starts over at the beginning you can't fast forward to where you were.

The german "Telekom" has/had something similar too.
Back in 2013 they throttled all VoD traffic like YouTube and Netflix (that's also the reason why YouTube got a 144p mode back then), but like a miracle, their own shitty systems still worked.

Im glad they are gone

Well TV and Movies arent worth supporting

Piracy is a responsibility of every citizen who appreciates freedom.
Obey!

I pirate some things like movies because I'm not going to pay $10 fr a movie ticket to see something I might not even like, and I torrent some software (Vegas, TransMac) because it's something I need that's not worth $200 in any sense (Vegas), or something that I'd have to pay for but only use maybe once or twice in my life (TransMac)

Really bad, there’s nothing I’m interested in downloading.

quads of truth

pirating shit that's old and out of circulation is fine due to draconian barriers to entry

As with everything in life, the answer depends on the perspective and is complex.

From your point of view, you get to save up money to spend on more important goods and resources relevant to survival and on your family, things that actually matter compared to something as irrelevant as digital products. This is a good thing from the perspective of your family and yourself.

By pirating foreign products, you also deprive foreign markets of a little bit more money, and instead that money goes into local hands, which means your local economy retained some competitiveness even if a little. Since it's not foreigners but your fellow nationals who ultimately will defend yourself and your family in events of cataclysm and war, and since your fellow nationals are the ones taxing social programs helping you and your family and not foreigners, it's also a good thing from the point of view of your fellow nationals and yourself by extension due to the intimate relationship within a border.

From the point of view of foreigners, its' a bad thing, but then those foreigners aren't the ones who will fight on your land to defend your family, and they aren't the ones willing to pay for your well-being in your nation, so their opinions are ultimately irrelevant.
