Linux on Windows 10

so why are you using a full integrated Linux/GNU desktop instead of the new Linux subsystem on W10?

Because I rather sandbox the botnet inside my free and open source OS rather than run the botnet directly on my hardware.

>new
hownew.ru

because running a VM within a botnet doesn't let you break free from the botnet.

Gnu/Linux is just a better OS.
The only thing windows have going for it is applications that have nothing to do with the OS.

Oh look, it's WINE.
For windows.

>it's wine for windows
It's not.
WSL actually works.

So does VMs

>requires dedicated memory for an entire operating system
>separate filesystem
>can't call a linux process from windows and vice versa
WSL is to VMs what VMs are to dual booting.

>>requires dedicated memory for an entire operating system
Virtualized
>>separate filesystem
What is shared directory?
>>can't call a linux process from windows and vice versa
Good.

>can't call a linux process from windows and vice versa
no, but i can call your mom anytime i want ;)

why would i ?...
i'd rather install windows inside a VM, but i honestly cant think any use other than gaming

BTFO kek

The absolute state of Linux users.

Are you 12?

You can't even edit Linux files, it's useless

it's quite slow; slower even than a virtual machine.

I'd rather just VM windows.

I'm not a GNUTard, but this thing is not Linux

they think they got u

ya, it's not new, and it's garbage. Plus your still part of the botnet

But I'm user.

>implying I have the money for a Windows license
>implying I'm Jamal who steals Windows

I am, user. I Don't use it for anything other than ssh and git though.

It's actually just GNU. The WSL does not contain any Linux.

I don't use Windows 10 because I'm not a Pajeet or gaymer kid.

>requires dedicated memory for an entire operating system
Even the granny PCs sold in outlets have 16gb ram. If you are running win10 anyways, odds are that you were forced to do it because new CPUs doesn't support win7 officially at all.

>separate filesystem
Yes, but its trivial to mount your other drives, I believe they are mounted by default.

> can't call a linux process from windows and vice versa
Why would you? If you are talking about IPC between processes, why not just use sockets anyways? If you are doing IPC between linux&win you are doing it wrong anyways.
If you mean executing programs and such, you can do both
> bash.exe -c "echo 'not an argument'"
> $ /mnt/c/Program\ Files\ \(x86\)/Google/Chrome/Application/chrome.exe

The post you replied to was outlining the limitations of virtual machines compared to wsl.

Oh. I feel stupid now.

This

WSL actually makes me feel bad for the GNU/Linux community, who has been trying to do this for years
m$ devs come and just make it work

there is no reason to use GNU/Linux other than morals anymore

you can, brainlet

Because windows 10 sucks ass and is inferior to literally even the shittiest Linux WMs in every way except software availability

WSL is actually buggy as hell and is easily surmounted by just using Cygwin. Most networking tools like ssh and nmap don't even work.

>why are you eating salad when there's lettuce in a big mac

ssh works perfectly and it integrates nicely with the rest of the applications wsl lets you use.
nmap is already available on windows so that's not an issue.
