How do you name your files?

I_hate_brocolli.jpg

I use spaces even though I spend most of my time in a terminal. Tab complete makes it fine.

...

i-hate-broccoli.ext because i can't be arsed to hold shift for underscore

Separate by spaces, this way the order of words doesn't matter when I'm searching. And I have 90k files to search from.

This, unless I'm at work where I have to follow normie company procedures.

>not using DromedariiCaps

spaces for casual shit
camelCase when what i work on doesnt like spaces

>when what i work on doesnt like spaces
Software from the 90s?

...

>work
>software from the 90's
not him but you got it pal

8.3 files. It's an old habit I'll never change.

op_is_a_huge_faggot.c

Obviously 2nd.
I also don't set extensions
The only illegal char is /

no you dumb nigger, we're tired of hearing your stupid Sup Forums meme every 5 goddamn seconds like every single one of you thinks you're original or know something everyone else doesn't

also have fun with your soy meme when the real culprits are ADD meds pushed on unwary parents because their kids act like kids. You fucking Sup Forumstards are the biggest bunch of shortsighted morons in existence.

xb.tiff

Look you stupid piece of shit, /fit/ knows about soy and is more of a meme there than on Sup Forums, non-retards know about soy, this has nothing to do with Sup Forums or whatever your boogeymen are.

You could make a dildo out of soy and stab your ass with it for all I care, just shut the fuck up about Sup Forums you turbocuckold.

sup shariablue

I have the text blank and the image is "I hate broccoli"

I don't name my files, I just use thumbnails... All my files come as whatever the download as
>pic related
If I'm making a new file I just add random characters to untitled.whatever. ...I'm a terrible person.

I do give files proper names with spaces and a title if it's a file I'm making for a project that someone else needs though, for example:
Main Character Sprite Animation.gif

For images downloaded from here I just keep them in a massive single folder with the Unix time filenames. To find a picture I just have to have a good idea of where it is and I've got a pretty good idea for most and almost exact for my common ones. It's also the same folder for pixiv and boorus and imported pictures from Clover which keep their original names
It's simply the best way there is

Why do you hate broccoli, user?

i_hate_broccoli.jpg all lower case.

I_HATE~1.JPG

what are your company procedures user

4

camelCaps are comfy to use but looks weird comparing to_this_example. second one looks more lit

1,4,5

I would think you want to name your files more descriptively

We have to use emojis whenever applicable

no shit xD

'I Hate Broccoli.jpg'

No, just type an apostrophe and then TAB.

Why don't you go and make sure every text file ends with an empty line while you're at it?

>not using spaces

yeah sucks using GUI's right

lmao fucking retards, stop using old shit

I don't. I identify them by the thumbnail.

kaspokdjaso.txt
doassidasiasn.log
sakjfewefewffff.out

you get the picture

that or

file.ext
file(1).ext
file(2).ext

I_HATE~1.JPG

That doesn't work if you have to escape the first character.

FUCKYOU.JPG

I prefer to use newlines, especially to confuse the tech illiterate. In production this works especially well for those idiots who parse ls - teaches them a nice lesson.
$ touch I$'\n'hate$'\n'broccoli
$ ls I*
I?hate?broccoli
$ echo I*
I
hate

Doesn't matter what you name your files. You're a low test faggot.

/thread

Most tools recognize dash as a word separator but not underscores. Plus it's unshifted on ANSI keyboards so it's faster to type as well.

People who use spaces are GUI untermenschen and should all be gassed.

CamelCase a shit. There are just too many variations that make it hard to determine the canonical form of names that use it. Do you capitalize the first letter? What about acronyms or single letter words? No large collection of camelCase identifiers is ever consistent, in my experience. Plus, it's ugly to read.

This, but only for my Sup Forums folder. It helps me find images quickly and easily to not bother with spacebar or special characters
