Americans have to share rooms in university

>Americans have to share rooms in university
>Americans have to take "general education" classes in university
Why?

>Shared rooms
Fit more people in Uni
>General education courses
So that you're well rounded and are getting an education in both your major and in the Liberal Arts

>Americans have to share rooms in university
Only some colleges require this and it's only for the first year

>Americans have to take "general education" classes in university
Most people can skip out of them, they are remedial courses for dim people who struggled with high school algebra and writing

Sharing a room is awful.

>you need to study liberal arts to be normal in America
I will never understand this.

That's a cute bunny there. Where'd you find it?

>leaving your home to go to uni
why

Why are dim people going to university in the first place? Here, if you want to get into a good university, you need to get through secondary school will flying colours. They won't even let you do a subject at A-level if you get below a B grade at GCSE.

>Liberal Arts
What are these considered to be?

Why not allow you some privacy?

How are you supposed to fuck girls if some guy is in a bed 2 meters away? And the other way around too. That's subhuman.

its just a rule you leave the room when you have a girl over

>fit more people in
Your country is enormous and ours is small but we still manage to give everyone single rooms.
>major
I don't get this either. Do you have to study at least two subjects? A major and a minor? Why not apply for a subject and study only that subject?

>americans have to go to unis just to get introduced to Calc
Cant make this shit up

>receive text
>"hey man I'm gonna need the room."
>"sweet dude I'll go grab us some beers for after."

CHADLIFE

that must only apply to the elite universities no?

>some colleges require this and it's only for the first year
Why would they though? Sure I can understand why someone would do it if they're dirt poor, but living on campus is fucking cancer.

>How are you supposed to fuck girls if some guy is in a bed 2 meters away? And the other way around too. That's subhuman.
If you were social enough to "fuck girls" you'd know your room is not the only one out there.
Just pay your friends a visit while your buddy does his thing.

I'd never shart an entire room, especially not together with another man.

REEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE I WILL NEVER KNOW THIS FEEL
I WILL NEVER BE CALIFORNIAN

Yes, but elite universities are really the only ones worth going to.

>Some colleges require this
My college """""""""""""""requires"""""""""""""""" this, but it takes about 10 seconds to fill out a form that says you don't want to.

But what if it's the middle of the night? What if you aren't on good terms with the roommate? This idea sucks and you know it.

>What if it's the middle of the night
Then you tell them to fuck off

listen faggot, we know people from europe are literal autists that stand 10 feet away from each other at a bus stop

but over here we aren't socially deprived fucknuts that can't communicate with other humans

you just learn to share a room, not that fucking hard

>American housing is on campus and uses their unfree campus Internet etc.
>meanwhile alcohol can not be sold on the campus

what le gives

I had to take a class literally labeled General Education, and a class on "Library" which just taught us how to use the dewey decimal system and make a bibliography

>>Americans have to share rooms in university
Depends on the school and your year (the higher your level the better your accommodations)
>>Americans have to take "general education" classes in university
>Why?
I was told so that we were more well rounded. I think it's so people will not see the world and problems with one perspectives. My art class on the romantic period was interesting at least.

even your average universities are miles better than our top ones here so it would still be worth it for someone like me.

It's okay froggie you can come visit best state whenever you want :^)
Then he fucks in the living room or doesn't fuck at all. Not my problem at that point

Okay dokay, sorry chad

Colleges make money from rent payments. Also it creates a sense of community and school pride which means you'll be more likely to donate after you graduate.

>Alcohol can not be sold on campus
Where did you here this? There's a drive through liquor store right next to my dorms.

It literally bothers noone.

>But what if it's the middle of the night?
Either none of you is sleeping so it's not a problem or you're all sleeping and noone's fucking.

>What if you aren't on good terms with the roommate?
Switch rooms?

>This idea sucks and you know it.
Do you also feel ashamed to have sex in your parents house?

Why are scandis so socially retarded?

>tfw going to one of the top 15 schools in America
>have to be in dorms all four years
REEEEE

yes we share rooms in dorms too

however our rooms are small and disgusting

No Ladders or Advanced Breathholding?
though we had that library shit too, except the course was labeled intro to university studies or something. Had to learn how to use the university bibliography system which sucked ass and everyone just copy pasted with BibTeX instead

Yeah I suppose so

>Most people can skip out of them, they are remedial courses for dim people who struggled with high school algebra and writing
Ummm no that's not what he's talking about. He is refering to what my school called all university credits. Algebra and writing aren't included. The're classes on subjects unrelated to your major and you can't test out of them.

why? is it paid for or something?

You were taught how to use a library at fucking university level?

I remember being taught the Dewey system when I was 11 at my local library.

>donate after you graduate
Does anyone actually do this? You guys pay insane amounts for tuition and they still want more?

it's a military academy

because not all universities are good. we have loads of shitty state colleges with like 80% acceptance rates. plus we have a major college sport culture so there are tons of athletes that are just there doing the bare minimum so they can play.

i'm pretty sure no one in the ivy league is taking remedial math or whatever.

>Does anyone actually do this
God no, I don't know why they bother spending the money to mail out those shitty letters

Yeah I guess.

>sandnigger
Bong travelling. I had to pretty much get A's from my A levels to get guaranteed replies for the tip uni. If you're in the UK and you go to a shit uni, just drop out, seriously. Or drop out after freshers lol

Ummm no you can take it in HS. They just don't force the retards to take it.

>it literally bothers noone

It bothers me

>Americans have to share rooms in university
You have the option to tell the university to fuck off. The university just doesn't like to let you know that.
>Americans have to take "general education" classes in university
To make the university more money, as well as because it makes you more "worldly" or some bullshit.

>americans actually have class attendance
>they get kicked out if they flunk too many exams

>mfw got paid to study
>would go on random week-long trips
>had exams from years back that I only finally did when I wanted to graduate

>You will never have sex with a uni girl
>You will always have the memory of losing your virginity while working already

I hate being socially inept lads.

>to make the university more money
>as well as the excuse they use to make more money
You're saying that like it's a good reason

(lmao fucked up the first post)

>Most people can skip out of them, they are remedial courses for dim people who struggled with high school algebra and writing

Not true. Most universities require you get credits for certain subjects, many of which you can't get from AP or IB high school courses. It's not about proficiency in a topic, they just want you to take classes in university on certain topics.

I learned the Dewey decimal system in second grade. Though my school had a CS class for retards that covered how to use MS Office. Even the professors thought it was a bit of a waste.

>well rounded

More like indoctrinated tbhlad

Most gen ed courses I've seen require you to take at least one course in feminism, minority studies etc.

i-is this true

i nearly got kicked out for dipping my overall gpa under 60%

>however our rooms are small and disgusting
What a coincidence so are a lot of ours.

I never memorized the DDD, but I knew how to do bibliographies long before I even left High school

>americans HAVE to take courses in feminism and minority studies
Christ, how embarrassing.

university is not about education in America, it's about socializing and indoctrinating the young into the leftist political mindset

that has been true for decades, now it is particularly explicit

Don't you have student unions in your country? This seems like something most students would tear their balls off to remove.

went to school in the UK, they didn't give a single fuck if you showed up to class or not. The only thing is that they were a stickler about deadlines for big things like essays, exams, dissertations etc. Good system though, I failed my first year due to laziness and Murrikan conditioning (we're literally taught to waffle), graduated with a 2:1 overall and just barely missed getting a first one my 4th year dissertation, which I will be eternally salty about

It's bs but most people don't. They usually get money from insanely wealthy donors and from events. The events at my school are kind of like casino nights with drinking and gambling for prizes and they make a profit from it.

>mfw got paid to study
>implying
Don´t tell me you graduated from university and still believe in the "free shit"-meme?

It's not that bad. I just took a world religions course in my univeristy for my diversity requirement.

It's not a good reason, but it's common practice among almost all reputable universities. So it's really difficult to choose a school that offers what you intend to go to school for and doesn't do this shit. Same reason they like to control your living situation in the dorms (pay the school rent), which generally means you'll need to pay them for a meal plan because you don't get your own kitchen to cook your own food, etc. Universities in the US, especially private ones, need to get money from their students, it's not right but it's how things work here.

West Point? My cousins husband went and hated it. His brother and father also went but he said his sons won't be attending.

We have student unions but they're generally completely useless. Most are obsessed with coffee table politics and useless posturing.

>diversity requirement
You better be memeing me

>diversity requirement

>>americans actually have class attendance
>>they get kicked out if they flunk too many exams
At most schools neither of these are true but if you never go to class and fail out why are you even at school?

He's not memeing. It's a requirement to graduate from basically every single American uni.

I had to take a feminist writing course where we studied feminist books, the SCUM manifesto, etc. It's literally indoctrination, there's no other word for it.

>Most gen ed courses I've seen require you to take at least one course in feminism, minority studies etc.
I only had one like that, Adult Journey....the others were on the romantic period in the arts, western heritage literature and understanding foreign cultures through film.

...

He's not. My school required like 3 fucking courses in diversity, but the diversity courses can be classes that also fill other course requirements. For example, I took a class in African American literature (absolute garbage, just a bunch of books on slavery) and it took care of like 2 general education courses and a diversity credit.

>you don't get your own kitchen to cook your own food
This sounds like abuse

whyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy

You don't. There is a list of options you can take but those pieces of shit are usually on the list.

>You better be memeing me

nope.

i go to uni in the UK. It's miles better than any uni here but I guess you guys would consider it shit. Dundee uni

>I had to take a feminist writing course where we studied feminist books, the SCUM manifesto, etc.
So you guys brought this on to us.
Greatest ally.

we dont have attendance bullshit but the idea of writing an exam whenever you want boggles my mind

First year of my college we didn't even have private bathrooms and had community showers

Dundee's alright m8, why didn't you go to Edinburgh if you were doin SCOOTLOOND though?

Did you go to school in China or something? The fuck

>This sounds like abuse
It pretty much is financial abuse, but they're doing it to 18 year olds (technically adults) who according to the government are old enough to make financial decisions. That's exactly why I, personally, told the university that I'd be living off campus.
True shit. I did the math on how much each class period costs, and even at a state university, it wound up being about 15 dollars for every hour I was in class. Kinda makes a guy think that skipping class isn't worth it.

Commie propaganda courses on proper gender pronouns

All of this is awful. It seems Americans stay with a broad education until they leave university.

Here, from age 14, you only need to take maths, english and science (single if you're stupid, double if you just don't like science, and biology, chemistry and physics if you do).

From age 16 to 18 you only need to do 3 or 4 subjects of your choice with no restrictions or requirements. Then in university you study one subject and that's it.

>you only need to take maths, english and science
As in those are required subjects, you take like 4 to 6 other subjects as well.

Nah, not all the dorms were like that and it was super cheap. The building was actually torn down right after my year there to be replaced with a more modern facility. It was the only building on campus like that.

Are English schoolgirls a meme or were they as slutty as their reputation says they are?

butthurt jew detected

Sounds like the Army. Except I'm guessing you probably had only 1 or 2 roommates in your dorm.

Isn't all this garbage originally from European socialist philosophers/"scholars"

They're probably sluttier than American girls. The age of consent being 16 and lenient drinking laws contribute to that.

I think you went to prison desu. Did you buy alcohol and drugs with cigarettes?

Even if it is, it's not being forced down our throats during education.

sorta similar thing here, but not as bad
Here you would be sharing a kitchen and bathroom with 5 people at most, but even then a lot of places give you your own private shitter and shower

>implying jews aren´t usually proponents of the welfare state

Two people per room, and the rooms were pretty tiny. It wasn't as bad as I'm making it sound.

I had an overall good experience with it.

>sharing a bathroom with 5 people at most
If you choose the cheapest accommodation option then yeah

same here

every floor shared a bathroom

it was 4 toilet stalls, 5 showers, and 3 urinals

one bathroom for females and one for males

Most universities force you to live in dorms the first year unless you already lived nearby
