>18 core Xeon® processor >Radeon™ Pro Vega® 64 desktop-class graphics with 16GB HBM2 memory >Up to 128GB DDR4 RAM >Up to 4TB SSD >5k screen >1080p Facetime™ camera >4 USB3 and 4 USB-C ports >Dongles available for VGA, HDMI, DVI and TB2 >All that plus a headphone jack and SD card slot
Admit it. Apple just BTFO the PC market completely and eternally. There's no other computer that even comes close, surely.
Forgot to say - this thing can drive THREE 5k displays. The inbuilt one and two other 5k displays. Simultanously.
Kayden Moore
I just hope it doesn't thermal throttle
Aiden Hill
>Radeon™ Pro Vega®
So, still no proper GPU that will appeal to more than 1% of their realistic customers?
Leo Ortiz
>Starting at $5,000 >Top end config will likely cost $30,000 like previous "Pro" desktops by Applel >Implying anyone on Sup Forums will even have the base model >Implying this is geared toward the average consumer anyway
John White
>Starts at $4,990
Ryder Murphy
> 18 Core Xeon (Jew jizz likely) > Vega 64 > That thin Break out the steaks boys, we're grilling tonight
Nathan Lee
The config listed in OP will probably be around 30k
Brayden Gonzalez
let me guess - you "need" more
Brayden Price
>18 core Xeon® processor >Radeon™ Pro Vega® 64 desktop-class graphics with 16GB HBM2 memory
18 cores at 0.7 Ghz each And the radeon down to 900 mhz
WOW APPLE GOOD JOB
Wyatt Walker
Kek. I was about to post from my 10.6 2009 mac mini 3,1 but you've got me beat bruh.
Isaiah James
apple not throttling down to 0.01mhz
choose one
Jaxon Rodriguez
90% of them just want it because it's expensive and black, they realistically won't use it for anything more demanding than the lowest priced regular iMac could do. You know it's true.
Lucas Harris
They've already solved the thermal throttling conundrum
>Advanced thermal management. Cool.
>Performance takes power, and power makes heat. To deal with it, we completely redesigned the thermal architecture of iMac Pro with innovative dual blowers, a massive heatsink and extra venting.
>The result? Almost 75 per cent more airflow and an 80 per cent increase in system thermal capacity.
>Which lets iMac Pro handle 500 watts — 67 per cent more power than the previous iMac — and stay cool.
Joshua Nguyen
Yeah I'll believe it when I see it, that's a tiny heatsink that's smaller than the one on my Vega 56 and that card is like 280 watts
Carson Gray
so it cool partially cool either the cpu or gpu
this thing gonna throttle or burn so bad its gonna desolder like older apple machines
Jack Rogers
>starting at 5k$ >dongles
Andrew Myers
>you >knowing how to greentext pick one.
Jaxon Harris
>buzzwords >buzzwords >buzzwords
I'm a MacFag and I can tell it's going to be bullshit, Apple is aiming at selling this thing to braindead middleclass retards who don't know what the fuck they're buying, professionals will have a hard time with it. They can't outsmart physical laws you dummy. Their ''thermal power management'' is codeword for throttling the shit out it.
Henry Phillips
>500 watts with a fancier version of a gpu blower fan It's going to be 100Mhz, but at least there's 18x 100Mhz.
Jacob Anderson
No, I WANT more. Then again, I work in graphic design and edit videos regularly, so yes, I actually do "need" more.
Alexander Thompson
I can buy something miles more powerful for the same money and I'm not talking about the consumer variant machine but calling supermicro, Fujitsu or Dell.
Workstation segment will never work with macs, only startup kids and people who think they are professional graphical designers work with these and I'm not saying this to be an asshole. Their displays are terrible for this sort of work. We only use eizos for example because of the color calibration.
Noah Cooper
Im pretty sure my PC is better :)
James Sullivan
>mfw my car costed 3k
Oliver Rodriguez
small question about thermal throttle.
How is the thermal throttle on macbook pros? I heard the TB version has better cooling than the non tb version ?
Evan Phillips
Knowing hot fucking balls hot Vega is, I really wonder how bad this shit is gonna throttle. Should've went Ryzen since it's more efficient than Xeon.
Samuel Perez
>18x100Mhz mfw
Bentley Brown
I have one (13 inch Retina 2014) and it hasn't happened to me yet. I don't know if it can bear using VSTs tough. I heard that the principal issue besides Apple tickling the dragon's tail with Intel thermal spec is the shitty chink foreskin based thermal paste that foxconn uses.
Charles Thompson
>missing the joke by this much
Nicholas Murphy
well I don´t plan using graphic intensive shit. Just coding etc.
Like I said, I heard that the TB has better cooling than the ones without touchbars.
Joseph Smith
>OP neglects to mention the price
Joshua Cruz
Probably because there isn't a 15 inch non touch bar version and, being bigger, they can dissipate more heat.
Christian Watson
>dongles in a $5k desktop computer
Fucking why?
Robert Sanchez
>They've already solved the thermal throttling conundrum
Apple since 1984 ...
William Roberts
Because the iMac Pro its a glorified stop gap. If Apple didn't ditch the cheese gratter and simply applied it the Space gray treatment, they could have avoided this issue.
Lucas Brown
>up to >up to >up to up to 7999.99
Christian Parker
this is not stupid question general, user
Luke Ross
>>The result? Almost 75 per cent more airflow and an 80 per cent increase in system thermal capacity. >>Which lets iMac Pro handle 500 watts — 67 per cent more power than the previous iMac — and stay cool. Well if they had really really shitty thermal flow before, nearly doubling it wouldn't magically make it significantly better. Obviously they aren't going to tell you what the fuck their thermal output is in cuf/s
Oliver Robinson
>radial fans so its gonna be a loud piece of shit?
Ayden Rogers
>Dongles available for VGA, HDMI, DVI and TB2 yes goy, spend $100 per dongle that only does one of those things and you preach it as if it's a decent feature that should be advertised? imagine if a car salesmen tried selling a car without a stearing wheel as if that were something anyone would want.. that's what you're doing right now, in the current year kys yourself faggot shit
Michael Evans
>a headphone jack why don't keyboards have fucking headphone jacks in them yet?
Benjamin Sanchez
>an adapter for their TB2 jack lmao
Luis Baker
that may be true user, but I am going to get 13" but it is still the same for both.
Oliver Adams
>removable ram >sealed casing it's like they're taunting us
Jordan Roberts
> I am just going to take a big fat iMac Pro, that's my new word for shit, because of todays events. - Apple
Jordan Nelson
How much is Apple paying you to advertise here?
Ian Reyes
lmfao.. so true its not even funny. 500 Watts? The fucking Vega 64 alone likely requires that. I have a 16 core and a vega 56 and when slammed I get north of 500 watts. This shit has to be throttling hard af. Correct Correct Derp boy build CORRECT AF.. > mfw typing from a mbp but would never purchase one of their desktops > It's going to be 100Mhz, but at least there's 18x 100Mhz. kek Correct af I've never ran any serious workloads on my mbp. However, even if you fire up a youtube video w/ some tabs open and other apps open, the fans are going to be screaming at max and its still going to be cooking. MBPs are glorified light process web browsing machines. If you're doing serious work on any apple machine, you're an idiot. I buy the base model now-a-days and wait for it to die from thermals wearing out components in a number of years after the warranty is up. a fucking xeon and a vega 64 packed behind a 5k monitor in such thin housing is the definition of full retard thermal throttling or housefires. correct You'll be fine in this case and mbps shine for this... Super comfy A review is going to max this shit out and expose this soon enough. Like the mbp when maxed out... Yes kek
Julian Watson
When you idiots realize most people who buy the pro line of Macs don't care much if at all for gaming, you'll realize why the need for the latest and greatest GPU isn't needed.
Grayson Morales
Don't forget, the base model is an 8 core, not an 18 core.
18 core is going to cost like 3x the price for otherwise base components.
Julian White
Congrats on using an old, regurgitated argument. So original.
Oliver Morris
I don't eat BBQ often enough to justify this grill.
Logan Miller
WHY THE FUCK CAN"T THEY JUST MAKE THE THING THICKER AND HAVE BETTER THERMALS SERIOUSLY WTF THE BOX TYPE IMAC LOOKED JUST FUCKING FINE
Ayden Reyes
Apple finally ships decent P3 screens for all their computers, so your argument about screens is wrong.
Isaiah Rivera
They did a sexy thick Mac Pro. So thicc and sexy that professionals still find pretty useful even they have Westmere processors.
Jordan Lewis
What else you want me to say?
>Can't change storage media with ease unlike the real workstations who all have hotswap bays. >Can't add extra components with ease in the pci-e slots like a new raid controller or a 10gbps network card or 4 teslas if you work with gpu computing, etc. >Terrible cooling means throttling which is the last thing you need when you're doing a heavy workload on your machine (I prefer it being loud than my scene taking 5 weeks to finish instead of 9 hours). >Can't upgrade CPU if required. >Not using ECC ram and can't change ram with ease. >High resolution but terrible display color wise. >Technical support is literally NIL, they threat enterprise customers like some hipster dude who just went to their apple store and dropped their phone in the floor. Now compare it with supermicro or even fucking dell where they will give you a blowjob and fix shit for free a lot of the times.
This mac is a terrible machine for it's money, I know you're just baiting for (you) but the last mac I ever worked that wasn't shit looked like an aluminum grill and it was technically shit still.
I hope you enjoy this (you) nigger.
Justin Mitchell
>mac pro rear That's a fucking Power Mac G5, nigger.
Matthew Cox
Yeah I know I did the modeling for my thesis on the old xeon mac pro. Also had an even older G5 one, that was a POS (by the standards of the day anyway).
Isaiah Miller
>What's google. I literally wrote mac G5 on google and that was the first resolution that wasn't completely for ants.
Your autism to defend a company which you may not even have worked with or had any product is commendable though. Been working with animation for more than a decade and I can tell you macs suck ass compared to even retarded dells for real work.
Zachary Kelly
Reminder to report all commercial spam and astroturfing.
>powermac g5 muh credentials On the fucking internet.
Matthew Bell
Fuck, you actually got me peeved. But then again, you never know with the autists on this board.
Brandon Thompson
Literally consider suicide my third world friend who got a job at trying to sell an overpriced barbie laptop to enterprise customers on Sup Forums of all places.
You will have better chance at it if you try to sell to people on starbucks who are aspiring game devs and webcomic artists.
Jose Fisher
Are you talking about the laptops or the workstations? I remember that my Mac Pro was perfectly capable of hot swap and I could expand it with PCIe cards.
Lincoln Howard
I've always realized this. All you need to do is spend some time in an apple store to realize what types purchase their products. It's fine w/ me really. It's not my money. I own Apple products when its sensible and buy the base model... their laptops are a sensible and comfy buy and their low end phones. Other than that, I don't see the value proposition. Others do, it's their money to part w/. $5k .. 8 core. LMFAO... I literally thought this was the 18core for that price. *tips hat to apple for this skill Form | Function .. it's a tradeoff.. Apple has for some time sided w/ form. Sometimes there's a balance in the case of the iphone/mbp.. other times : hell no (desktops).
Gabriel Richardson
i find it extremely difficult to ready any Apple marketing shtick without feeling like i'm gagging on a humongous cock
Xavier Peterson
Whatever, liar.
Asher Taylor
I'm talking about the shit on OP picture not the old G5 and so on. Those you could actually change and add shit inside. Which by the way, that shit costs 5k starting and can jump to almost 9k.
We are almost talking about some high end server money here when it reaches 9k. which by the way it's more than enough for a great workstation.
Logan Butler
If you need to know the price, you can't afford it
This isn't for basement-dwelling NEETS. It's a business machine for creative professionals. In the context of the average annual small business turnover, $4995 is literally nothing for an investment that will save zillions of man-hours
Isaac Walker
nice facebook and spotify machine
Zachary Barnes
Sorry to break your heart, Rajeesh, I will do the needful and tell my boss to start buying apple instead of dell shit from now on.
Jacob Allen
The dongles are for legacy connections like VGA and DVI. It has standard USB and USB-C slots galore
Dylan Williams
>a dell shill The current state of Sup Forums
Austin Baker
God I hate you can't even adjust the height ,can't even put a VESA stand. All these 3k+ imacs standing on books and stuff
Henry Parker
I'm sorry Rajesh but they make cheap shit that works and doesn't throttle. You would understand this if your job wasn't to post on Sup Forums telling people to buy things.
The only thing I ever shilled on Sup Forums were poptarts from newegg btw. so fuck you.
Mason Torres
Tryhard
Jackson Thompson
>a dell shill in Sup Forums The current state of Sup Forums. >he doesn't know about the vesa adapters for iMacs
Isaiah Lee
I like the keyboard.
Carter Sullivan
>he doesn't know about the vesa adapters for iMacs Literally a dongle for height adjustment. HOLY FUCKING KEK
Lucas Gomez
needs more for his threesome horse cock porn
Joshua Morales
What dongle?
Zachary Cook
Another add on to mah already overpriced shit that comes included with even the cheapest systems? Let me guess 500usd for a piece of plastic? SIGN ME UP!!
Bentley Howard
Apple needs to go away from the AiO PC style and back to the old roots from the power macs if they want to be worth anything.
>Shilling poptarts on Sup Forums Man I remember the old threads where every user who made a build would put a pop-tart package as part of it on pcpartpicker. Kinda sad newegg doesn't carry the same stock as back in the day. Fuck you for giving me feels at this hour tho I was going to sleep but I decided to check on Sup Forums instead. oregano content for you as a gift now I will go cry myself to sleep.
Cooper Miller
>ITT: assblasted poorfags
Joseph Thompson
where is my fucking mac mini
Xavier Richardson
>tfw the mac mini is a fucking zombie with their weak as fuck laptop processors
Jayden Gonzalez
At least Apple isn't touting that the graphics are upgradable. Last time they did that, nobody made them.
Adrian Sanders
Even the Skull NUC could do that. It's not that big of a feat.
Noah Miller
>all that hardware >gets super hot and throttles down to like 1% power when you ask it to do something
Applefags baka
Jaxson Richardson
You're talking about the mac pro, right? These cards are a shitfest. They have the GPU, and other logic cramped it, they use non standard connectors, and the mac pro itself is starved on PCI lines. Designing new GPU for that thing would be a nightmare. And I'm not talking about the heat issues.
Juan Rogers
yeah the trashcan mac pro with up gradable video cards that nobody made video cards for
Henry Perez
>their weak as fuck laptop processors The same laptop processors you drool over in your gaming laptops.
Dominic Moore
why does something that's too big to be portable anyway need to try and sacrifice functionality for compactness? it's not even like you'd be saving space. you could make it bulkier while keeping the same footprint.
Charles Walker
>gaming laptops with ULV processors clocked to 1.8 Ghz What.
Kayden Turner
>falling for marketing buzzwords lmao
Cooper Harris
Holy shit, this thing is going to constantly overheat and thermal throttle like a motherfucker.
Is apple just releasing garbage for shits and giggles now?
Luis Wright
Why bother making good product when you already have a shitload of fanboys ready to buy and defend whatever piece of shit you throw at them?
Anthony Wood
>headphone jack >sd card slot
Woah, imagine having all these cool features in the year 2017
Grayson Rogers
>If you need to know the price, you can't afford it t. Schlomo
