Internet before net neutrality

I don't recalling having any of these catastrophic slow downs of smaller sites before 2015. Why is everyone so fucking paranoid?

>Everyone
You misspelled redditors

fuck off ajit

just reddit being autistic

Most websites were not sucking up bandwidth, because a lot of them were still mostly text based.

Blame providers for not opening the infrastructure up in the late 2000s. We should've been on fiber in 2010.

Irrelevant.

5G

>why didn't game streams exist in 2007? NN BBTFFOO!

...

Oh, mobile broadband. Yeah, that's true. So technically, nobody should be upset about Net neutrality ;^)

Probably because you had net neutrality. The FCC was slapping the ISPs for throttling traffic about 4 times a year since 1990

Fuck off to Sup Forums with this subject fag.

The whole reason we have the regulation in the first place was because ISPs sued the FCC after they were stopped. Remember when comcast blocked p2p? You want no torrenting again?

Because back then websites were text and GIFs and everyone only had 56 kb/s connections anyway. Now ISPs are mad at Netflix etc. for having so many customers using their service and thus needing the ISP's bandwidth. So they want to charge Netflix for "priority access", or charge users to access Netflix, or both, in order to make more money. This political decision is ALL ABOUT THE MONEY, as always.

Obviously this destroys the internet's free market because any smaller Netflix competitior that comes along will not be able to afford the ISP's "fast lane" cash demands, and obviously no-one is going to use a service that continually buffers. Basically anyone who is huge now, and ISPs themselves, would benefit. Everyone else (customers, smaller internet entities, anyone rallying against the establishment who faces block threats) loses.

>We should've been on fiber in 2010.
Americans weren't

What country did you think I was talking about? As if there are any other countries that matter :^)

If you think net neutrality is bad you’re either a corporate dick sucker or an actual retard. Fuck off Sup Forums

>everyone only had 56 kb/s connections anyway
>2015

Comcast and Verizon used to throttle torrent traffic like crazy before ~2015

Because then the market situation wasn't this bad yet.
Now that NN had limited ISPs from doing what they want, they will take advantage of no NN.

It's free money, do you think they are stupid?

>Irrelevant
>(data capped technology)
You're stupid. Your family shouldn't be allowed to continue.

You should google "AT&T Sup Forums"

Some ISPs even blocked Sup Forums.
You don't remember much, do you?

Kek Tim "Sharky" ward would approve of this use of his image

Same shit could have happened under net neutrality. Just label a site as illegal, or it's cp Wednesday again, and bam. Block

>being this young
I'm jealous desu

But then you could complain to the FCC the block was not valid because the site was mislabeled as illegal. Now you can't do that.
