You don't need to overwrite the recovery partition to boot to TWRP, just put your phone into fastboot mode and type >fastboot boot donatetomypatreon.img If all you're doing is installing Magisk you'll only need TWRP once

It can be extended quite a bit. Buyer protection means you can complain and get a refund, once it runs out you're out of luck. If a seller extends it its because he's afraid you'll file a dispute ( which looks bad for the store), your order was probably delayed due to Christmas and the seller knows this, he's extending so you dont ask for a refund before it arrives.
If it was a scam he wouldnt extend the protection, just take the disputes and create a new store.
