Which of the two panels do you own and what are you opinions around them?
Will I be bothered if I'm switching from IPS to a TN panel?
Basically, convince me not to buy a TN panel. I won't be doing much gaymenings, just browsing the web, watching chinese cartoons and stuff.

yes you will. dell 23" ips died, picked up a 24" samsung curved TN. got another ips monitor cause the tns colors were so bad

I have an IPS, but every panel type is horrible in its own way.
IPS:
-poor black levels
-poor contrast
-IPS glow
-poor uniformity
VA:
-off axis gamma shift, poor viewing angles
-slow pixel transitions on darker colors results in smearing
-"buttcheeks" dirty screen effect on recent Samsung VAs
TN:
-poor viewing angles
-poor colors
-poor contrast
I have little hope that any of these problems will ever get meaningfully addressed with LCD. Maybe the FALD IPS displays coming out next year will offer some improvement, we'll see. FALD is a kludge, but if they can get the backlighting algorithm sorted out (the Dell with FALD is awful), it might be the best we'll get until OLED monitors are a thing.
My greatest concern is that the colors will be garbage.
Planning on getting the monitor in the OP.
I currently have a cheap Asus VS228DE which is a TN, and the colors compared to my IPS look like garbage.
LCD is cancer meant to keep peasants at a disadvantage while great display tech is hoarded or kept at unreachable prices for the previously aforementioned peasants
So I should just buy an OLED TV and hook it up to my PC?
A decent TN is probably "fine" if you're not too picky. Just don't sit it next to an IPS and compare the colors.
Unless youre going for more than 60-75, IPS looks beautiful and is very usefull for creative work because of color accuracy and contrast

1440p IPS is dead, just save up for 4k IPS at this point, LG has models at $299 sometimes, typical korean 1440p monitors are $200
Tek Syndicate/Level1techs has reviewed a ton of korean monitors
With IPS, you have 170+ degree viewing angles instead of fucking 45 or less
Most importantly you can use IPS in portrait mode, TN is terrible for it

I have an OLED panel on my Alienware 13 r3 and it's exactly perfect EXCEPT there a little lag when switching from black to other colors but only then. Otherwise it doesn't happen anywhere else.
