What would you like to talk about?
What do you see as the biggest advantage to using Arch itself rather than something like Antergos?
The biggest advantage is the sense of pride and accomplishment one feels when being able to undertake the complex task of installing Arch *without* a GUI installer.
I can appreciate that.
Installations aside, how does it compare to Gentoo? Do they have something similar to the AUR?
Feel free to stop replying at any point, you're not my professor.
>Feel free to stop replying at any point
I don't need your permission to stop replying.
Gentoo has overlays
> pride and accomplishment
I build 3 or these ones linuxfromscratch.org
Impressive, very nice!
Gentoo offers actual user choice. Arch is just a typical netinstall. Quite a bloated one, as well
I switched from Arch to Alpine and I haven't been happier!
I forget, does Manjaro have access to the AUR?
I not a power user so I don't need the core functionality of Arch, but god damn I fucking love the AUR and Yaourt and funnily enough whether it's Arch proper or Antergos it has pretty much always been the smoothest experience for me. Ubuntu always breaks no matter what I do it feels like.
Actually speaking off, is yaourt still the go to AUR helper or is there a better alternative?
What purposed does arch with extra shit serve?
Fuck you, don't insult my distro
Debian (NET ISO)
Don't use yaourt, it's bad
Use pacaur
Use Anarchy Linux. It's Arch with a fancy installer.
Brooo, redpill me on alpine.
Sandy vag?
It's shite
I am now opting out of this conversation.
Going back to unixporn?
What is that, sounds inappropriate.
trips have spoken
Dubs have confirmed that trips have spoken!
This is the best day of my life
Sad!
meh. I've done it twice it's over rated
It doesn't have disk encryption options therefore is shit
You get a bit of insight of the modularity behind a linux distro because you have to add much of it manually.
>Is it worth actually worth switching from Antergos/Manjaro to Arch?
* If you can use arch than you can "debloat" Antergos/Manjaro
>What is the benefit of doing so, compared to picking a derivative?
*less pkgs if you care about that (Antergos gets you a lot of fonts)
>Is Arch breaking itself a meme?
yes
>Why use Arch over Gentoo?
binary distro
>Why are Debian users faggots?
idk
