king in terms of what?
if you're talking about sheer performance and features rbpi is probably on the bottom of the barrel.
In terms of accessories and companies catering to rbpi specific stuff yeah it's most likely the best

yes
i'd rather get RPI tbqh. i dont want to encounter some weird 0.0001% weird driver bug on those other RPI chink copies

RPI is still king of software.
Tho if you don't care about software as much, then get one of the fruit pies.

Raspberry pi is the Ubuntu of SBCs. Sure, there are better ones out there, but it has the largest community and support.

...

how is the espresso?

Got my $10 orangepi two weeks ago, so far so good, looks stable with no strange issues.

If you did then you could just fix the driver, right?

ROCK64 is the beast.

Hey, let's be friends.

>kernel 3.4
Enjoy your outdated kernel

chink copies often have broken, old, closed-source drivers

RPI #1
Community, guides, stable software far outweighs the faster hw of others.

>Enjoy your outdated kernel
And?

C-Can I join in too?

No security fixes
No driver improvements/fixes
No updates/feature improvements or new hardware support

But sure, as long as you don't connect to the Internet, everything works in your current project and you don't plan to touch it anymore, it's not a problem.

Why u mad tho user?

>Your kernel is too old!!!
>Probably most beloved Loonix kernel ever
It's like you're just commenting for the sake of commenting.

>No security fixes
You have no fucking idea how Linux kernel versioning works, do you?
You see the 113 at the end? That the security fixes. 3.4 is a stable LTS kernel and ARMBIAN adds all the security fixes to it.

Is there a good cheap SBC that has dedicated ethernet and USB controllers?

Last time I checked rpi has a shared eth/usb controller with a maximum of 100mb/s, which is quite shit for a fileserver

Previous models of the odroid perhaps? They were going cheaply when the newer versions came to market.

Yeah, that is one thing that kills a lot of these SBCs. Works for what I need though.

If you consider $60+ being cheap then there is Odroid XU4

Orange pi pc2 has a dedicated gigabit Ethernet but the USB is still USB 2.0
Still, it's a very cheap option, I think around 20 bucks?

Dammit can SOMEBODY make one of these without the ports soldered on? Like connected via jumpers or something. They'd be flat as hell and you could fit them into more form factors, connecting the ports you want, where you want them.

Is there any other reason to be here than to shitpost?

Ah, you might be right. It's surprising to see somebody even bother with supporting it even though mainline kernel 3.4 is not supported anymore.
Is there more info than just this?
armbian.com/kernel/

Just for the (You)s

Eh, what's the max bandwidth one could expect from the usb ports? I'm guessing it doesn't have sata

60$ is still cheaper than buying a nas but does it have a sata interface or still just usb?

It looks like they're working on 4.11/4.13 builds anyway.

Every board is a compromise in one way or another.

The ODROID XU4 is faster, but lots of software is optimized for the RPi3.

The RPi3 has wifi and bluetooth built in for 35 bucks, whereas the ODROID does not.

The RPi3 has enough USB ports to be useful, whereas every other board except the Tinker Board doesn't. The Tinker Board has a tiny community behind it, which makes the software crap.

The RPi3 is kind of like the PDP-8 or PDP-11. Weaker than a mainframe, but with a community behind it so large that it doesn't matter. Someone will find a way to wring every ounce of performance out of the Pi that it's usable.

Just usb iirc, but you should check out the Cloud Shell 2 kit for the XU4. It might interest you.

>No [...] new hardware support

The absolute state of Sup Forums cluelessness

This now an uptime thread?

can i join too

Why so high system loads?

Whats this? I want one

filename

The XU4 seems quite expensive in europe, around 130€, which is the price of a nas...
Rpi4 with sata controller when?

Apparently the eths on it arent good. And its an arm board? Nah lost interest

Boinc.

what does everyone think about asus' tinkerboard?

Are OLinuXino good? i look them up on the FSF page an it says that the A10-OlinuXino-LIME and A20-OlinuXino-LIME models should be blessed by Stallman
