No, xmb is nice, but like a lot of these ce os, it doesn't scale well with large amounts of content. Granted, it's all in the execution, so maybe someone can make it work.

Hell no.

It works fine on small screens like the PSP but on large displays it's just wasting space.

XMB was meant to be used by controllers and remotes.

Windows Media Center did it.

A mouse is basically a motion controlled remote

This is fucking retarded, it does absolutely nothing to take advantage of widescreen and its screen space. It's literally limiting itself to half the space for the sake of not copying Sony 1:1.

>A mouse is basically a motion controlled remote

XMB is the interface.
The OS is *BSD.

Not after what he did to XRachel

As a HTPC, fuck yes, for daily use, no it would be too slow to do anything.

no, it was shit on the ps3 too

Yes.
But I'd use it exclusively for emulating consoles.
Each horizontal tab would be the console and the vertical drop down tab would be the games for that console.

Also typical settings, video, images, etc tabs

Except they didn't copy Sony.

The Media Center "crossbar" thing came out before Sony's PS3 did.

And it made a lot of sense when you were using a remote.

The PS3 wasn't the first to have XMB, the PSX was.

Nah.

They did, though. XMB was first introduced with the PSX (not the original Playstation, pic related) in 2003.
Windows XP Media Center Edition was released in 2002, but WMC didn't get the crossbar type UI until it was included in Windows Vista in 2006.

Even if you were to take out PS3 out of the picture which was 2006 and the PSX DVR because it's a bit more obscure, you still have the PSP XMB in 2004. That's 3 devices in total that use the XMB.

that is how retroarch works

It's not BSD
Takes some bits from freeBSD though.
Only the PS4 straight up uses freeBSD.

Sony had loads more devices using the XMB.
Later on some of their TVs use a UI similar in aesthetics to the PS4

You're welcome

(retroarch bundled with bloat linux os)

I would to be honest, but it has to have a desktop or something.

Sony had some very nice hardware, not sure why they droped out the tech race.

Sony could make something nice i guess.

I hate that UI design, seems stupid

Can it do Playstation?
