America is awash with guns. We aren't, and that's a good thing because gun crime is rare here. But yes, if I was an American living in a country where guns were already commonplace I'd definitely have one. American gun owners don't deserve criticism, but neither do British people who support restrictive gun laws

you can own a pistol, and i believe a single shot rifle (?), if you are the member of a gun club. gun clubs cost a lot to join. as a member you have to keep your gun at the club, and it is subject to a police check once a year.

if you own land you can get a shotgun license and hunt on your land, guns are subject to a check by police i think once every two years. you have to have a shotgun license. other people can get a shotgun license and use them to hunt on others land with the land owners permission.

there's a fair amount of gun shops around. they mostly sell shotguns, but some pistols and rifles too.

I have no clue. There's a fairly decent size of our population that would like to ban any sort of hunting or using of guns even in a peaceful manner. Truthfully though, the hunter takes the most care of the land. Like the old Anglo-Saxon proverb, "he loved the game as he was their own father." As long as it's not plain butchery on giant scales, then normal hunting of animals is a benefit to the circle of life
