Live in richest, most powerful country in the world

>live in richest, most powerful country in the world
>shittiest internet infrastructure and ISP service in the world

That is what happens when you let the ISP lay the cables.

Has there been any infrastructure projects yet? It's really important I hope Trump gets to it. So much of it is shit.

Government regulations are raping the free market.

Look at countries with less regulations on the telecom market, and weep at the prices and the quality.

>Live in massive, geographically diverse, country that spans an entire fucking continent
>HURR DURR WHY INTERNET SO SLOW

>give shitloads of tax payer money to telcos for infrastructure upgrades
>telco executives use extra money to buy private jets with 7.1 sound systems instead of 5.1

This is what happen when the state interferes with the free market.

lol. they couldn't even get their shit together enough to remove healthcare from poor people when they control all three branches. They barely got the donor relief act of 2017 passed.

Yeah, living in China is suffering

No, this is what happens when large corporations are given free reign

Yeah, man. Let the free market take care of it when I literally only have one provider. Surely they will cater to me and bring competition to that multi billion shekel company no problem!

This has nothing to do with the fucking geography.

This is a simply calculus of demand / cost of deployment + competition.

But since the govt is raping the possibility of competition by enforcing very anti-free market rules and regulations, thus preventing new competitors from entering the market, the companies have NO incentive to invest in order to provide a better service.

If investing more was a commercially sound move, it would have been made.

There is only one provider BECAUSE of govt regulations preventing companies from entering the market.
Hell, even fucking google is struggling like mad to become an ISP.

Govt regulations + corruption at a state level is destroying the market.

Fuck off chinky

Corporations _should_ have free reign, but barricading a market thus preventing new companies from entering creates a de facto mono/olipoly that will not end in a consumer friendly situation.

I LOVE IT HERE SO FUCKING MUCH FREEDOM

>This has nothing to do with the fucking geography.
It has everything to do with it you wankstain. Other countries have comparably fast internet because those countries are the size of half of a small state. It costs a shitload of money to lay out all that cable and even more to route out local loops for every podunk town along the way, so you end up with crappy bandwidth overall.

>I LOVE IT HERE SO FUCKING MUCH FREEDOM
Well, tell your legislators to stop trying to control the market, everything will be fine. It will regulates itself.

>Govt regulations + corrupt Republicans at a state level is destroying the market.

ftfy

Corporations having free reign is what got us here.

>Biggest debt = richest
Lol

Canada's internet is nowhere near as shit and they have worse geography.

>shittiest internet infrastructure and ISP service in the world thanks to net neutrality
>net neutrality is trashed
>one week later, nothing has happened
>hurrr look what blumfh did we have shittiest internet infrastructure and ISP service in the world now

chicken brain

if there is one thing all intelligent people agree on, it's that liberals need to be excised from gene pool and erased from history

Yeah, just let banks and corporations fuck people over with no recourse. That'll work well.

>It has everything to do with it you wankstain. Other countries have comparably fast internet because those countries are the size of half of a small state. It costs a shitload of money to lay out all that cable and even more to route out local loops for every podunk town along the way, so you end up with crappy bandwidth overall.

This is not how technology works. At all.
It would have been an argument if there was a _low_ density population, and most places in America are not like that.

This has nothing to do with geography, but rather with cost of implementation divided by demand (number of potentiel customers).

I could understand if they don't want to invest in laying cable in fucking Wyoming, but high density states do not have that reasoning.
But since they have no competition, they have no incentive to spend the money in order to better the product.
They only have to lose, nothing to win in the current situation.

Have the changes even been enacted yet?

>Republicans
You dumb fuck this has nothing to do with (R) or (D), they're basically the same and none of them give a fuck about your internet quality.

You're stuck in a false dichotomy, stop watching fucking TV.

>Corporations having free reign is what got us here.
False.
Government regulations preventing the free market from functioning correctly, thus creating a de facto olipoly got us here.

Not an argument.

>This is not how technology works. At all.
I'm sorry I wasnt aware that technology somehow negated the need to run thousands of miles of cables?

>Yeah, just let banks and corporations fuck people over with no recourse. That'll work well.
Am I talking about fucking banks? This has nothing to do with banks you stupid millennial.

We're talking about the telecom market, a market that I know pretty well and I live in a country without such heavy burdens on regulations, and this is why my internet is fast and cheap.

You know what, don't listen to me or anyone, just look at other countries.
Look at other countries that have better (or worse) products than your country have, and look as to why that is.

Regulations put in place by republican legislators bought and paid for by the telcos.

>Canada's internet is nowhere near as shit
It's literally worse
>they have worse geography.
No, they actually have better geography relative to population distribution. Pretty much all of canada lives right along the border, ISPs aren't running lines all the way up into the arctic.
Unlike american ISPs, which have to run cable from the dick tip of florida all the way to the farther point in washington

>live 50 miles from nearest city
>1gb up/down with att
>$35/month standalone

what's the problem?

Are you clinically retarded?

>He literally thinks that New York having internet as shitty as Alaska is because of the geography.

That, OP, is fucking false. My internet at home is still way faster than many countries'. Have you experienced India's and China's internet infrastructure. They advertise good speeds but you'd be lucky to even browse the web

Why are you trying to make this a partisan issue? Are you from fucking reddit?

The issue is regulations blocking competition and thus taking away an incentive from the companies to create a better product/service.
Lift the regulations, and everything will sort itself out.

...

>ISPs
You say that like Americans actually have real choice as to what ISP to go with.

Comcast and AT&T have fought Google and won in order to stop them laying cables. This lol the land is why we cannot run cables argument is fucking nonsense.

>Why are you trying to make this a partisan issue?

Because it is. The GOP is the party of let large corporations do whatever the fuck they want.

What's your point, literal reditard?
There wasn't the 330 pages regulations that is "net neutrality" before 2015, and there wasn't any heavy throttling.

But there is still too much regulations in the market, thus preventing new companies from entering and competing with the others.
We need to lift more regulations.

>The GOP is the party of let large corporations do whatever the fuck they want.
Are you blind or ideologically possessed?

What candidate/party was financed by big corporations? I'll let you think for a second before doing mental gymnastics.

Also, I don't like the R more than I like the D, but this has nothing to do with parties you know.
The NN was repelled under a R government too. It's Obama (D) that created it.

There sure as shit was heavy throttling especially of bittorrent.

It's a big country. Be glad you don't live in Australia.

Are you?

That's not the case though, or are you unaware of how horrifyingly bad Alakas internet is?

That's not relevant to my point.

You're retarded if you think both parties are in the pocket of oligarchs.

>wasn't any heavy throttling

Did you live under a rock before 2015? All the big ISPs were throttling traffic that competed with their own services, or whatever the MPAA or RIAA told them to. Data caps are still a thing and common ports are still being filtered at the CPE.

>We need to lift more regulations.

How well did that work out in 2008?

How can you type with so many corporate dicks in your hands?

The only thing you can even begin to argue is true is "most powerful".

> All the big ISPs were throttling traffic that competed with their own services,
Literally wrong. Every time an ISP tried to throttle or block a service in a manner that wasnt consistent with reasonable network management practices the FCC stepped in and slapped them in the face with their cock, and they stopped.

Now the FCC can't do shit.

And then did it again month later. And then got tired of this shit and sued them.

As long as libfags are triggered I honestly don't care what happens to civilization. They abandoned white christian supremacy. Everything else might as well fail as quickly as possible. Let them ruin it quickly

>live in one of the shittiest cities in USA
>my internet is faster than 90 percent of USA.

Exactly, because of the regulations that were just removed.

>Be glad you don't live in Australia.
This. I have a sync rate of 100 mbit/s but I can only get 25 mbit/s in practice.

>sacrificing your own economic well being over made up bullshit about a few social issues.

You are what's wrong with this country.

From time to time, people get too smart for the current religion, and end up moving to a new, well built one.
It's time to build a new good religion, as humans do not operate well without it before some shitty one takes over, as well, social justice is doing.

Damn, a lot of reddit shills in this thread. And here I was glad where Net Neutrality threads died.

I mean, do you people literally think power in the hands of the government is better than power in the hands of corporations? Do you really?

At least there is competition between corporations, preventing them from fucking up too much.
Meanwhile, the government have a literal monopoly on what it does.

cucks

Of course it's not relevant to your point. It attacks your point. You said they can't just go about running cable because the geography doesn't allow for it. Google Fiber has said they'll lay that cable. The ISPs in turn sue Google to stop them laying the cable. The ISPs then continue doing nothing but raking in cash and laying no cable but also not allowing anyone else to.

But no. Sure it's just the land is the real issue. Not the isps at all.

ITT: idiots argue why p. ajit is a good man freedom yes yes baguette

Every ISP used to have caps in my country until about 4 years ago. I remember having my 80GB cap and 20Mb connection and I was happy reading my manga because if I downloaded too much anime I'd go over the cap.

Now I have 1 gigabit unlimited.

Sorry, but it's the truth.
2000 years of discoveries about the world made Christianity seriously outdated.
Yet, people are still programmed to believe in something.
And when they don't find something decent to believe on, well...

Some Australians are lucky.

>richest, most powerful country in the world
lol amerikkka

You honestly there is competition between ISPs in America?

Go fuck yourself.

>dang, if only Christianity had several forks, reforms, restructuration in order to stay relevant with the passing time
You're not a very educated man, are you.

>I mean, do you people literally think power in the hands of the government is better than power in the hands of corporations? Do you really?

Yes. Do you honestly think it's better to leave it in the hands of people in a position to prosper from fucking everyone else over?

>At least there is competition between corporations

lol

>You honestly there is competition between ISPs in America?
Not enough, because the market is not free enough.

Why should I give a fuck about consumers? Boo hoo I have to pay $10 more a month for my internet, while my investments increase by way more because I'm a business owner, not a poorfag consumer faggot who lives paycheck to paycheck.

Not my fault i moved to a greenfields fiber neighborhood Nigga.
I voted for the people who wanted this. Its not me you need to be mad at.

>reddit spacing, the post
A literal socialist reddit cuck.

Also, you're a retard and need to read a history book if you believe giving more power to the government is a good idea.

From an engineer at one of the cable companies in the US: you're a fucking moron.

How rich a few select people get has nothing to do with the quality of goods and services the public gets.

Not everyone is left with a family business to take over or enough of an inheritance to afford the prohibitive costs of starting one.

>Why should I give a fuck about consumers?
Because if you don't, they'll go to the competition.
You're right in the sense that if there is no competition (like it's basically the case for the TelCom market in the USA currently), there is no need to give a fuck about consumers.

This is why there need to have competition, for a healthy market with several competing companies striving to provide the best product.

>few select people
Anyone can buy shares of ISP stocks. People on this board are too busy spending their good boy points on the latest GPU and anime figures though.

From a senior engineer at the biggest cable companies in the US: you're a big fucking moron.

>Also, you're a retard and need to read a history book if you believe giving more power to the government is a good idea.

>Says a supporter of a president who literally fires the director of the FBI for investigating him and his friends
What the fuck does this have to do with this?
I'm not even a supporter of Trump, what are you even talking about?

Also, why do you keep reddit spacing, are you that fucking retarded?

t. even more full of shit

There's no such thing as credentials on Sup Forums but I'll spell it out for you: cable companies love being monopolies. All of them (including my employer) spent millions convincing politicians that NN was bad.

Also, Verizon throwing such a bitch fit over it 2015 should have been a clue.

Of course they love being monopolies. This has nothing to do with cable companies, every company would like to be (almost) alone on the market.
This is why they convince and almost bribe politicians to create regulations in order to PREVENT new companies from entering the market.

When there is a market where Google can't even enter, there is a big fucking issue with the market. It is not free at all, and it should be.

>Live in wealthiest country in the world
>blame dirt hills and shrubs for bad internet
Maybe we dont have the best internet up here in canada but at least we dont blame it on the fucking snow

>I'm not even a supporter of Trump, what are you even talking about?

You call NN a power grab, but you don't seem to have a problem with the shady things this administration is up to.

>Also, why do you keep reddit spacing, are you that fucking retarded?

Because it pisses you off.

This. Those poor corporations sitting on 80 year high levels of cash that they aren't reinvesting. Maybe if we give them another tax cut paid for by working people they'll upgrade their shit.

>You call NN a power grab
What? I never uttered those words, have you been drinking user?
>but you don't seem to have a problem with the shady things this administration is up to.
We're not on fucking Sup Forums, I don't currently care what jewry the administration is going, I'm talking about TELCOM, ISP, market and Internet.

If you want to talk about how evil donal drumpf is because he sucks russian cocks, please relocate yourself to Sup Forums or Reddit.

>Those poor corporations sitting on 80 year high levels of cash that they aren't reinvesting.
No competition = no incentive to better the product
>Maybe if we give them another tax cut paid for by working people they'll upgrade their shit.
Typical socialist attempt at a solution: throw money at the problem and call it a day.

>wealthiest

We're 20 trillion in debt, and it's the younger generations that's going to be impacted the most when this unsustainable spending collapses.

More competition would be better but would deregulation foster more competition and not monopolies? Don't companies just buy out your competition or merge with them? And something like telecom, you can't just start a new ISP unless you are someone like Alphabet and the current ISPs have done a damn good job limiting even them.

How would deregulation help spur competition in this industry?

>How well did that work out in 2008?
Great.

his argument is that your anti-republican bias is causing you to blame everything on them when everyone else can clearly see that the parties are nearly identical.

he's correct and you're an idiot.

>More competition would be better but would deregulation foster more competition and not monopolies?
History would say more competition.

>Don't companies just buy out your competition or merge with them?
I don't see Verizon buying Google that currently tries to enter the market. Even 5 big corporations is better than 3.
Also, and this is the case in a lot of countries, it is more effective to better your product than buying everyone else. The number is reduced over time, but no one is too big to fail/crumble.
Especially since for important services like TelCom, people tend to trust big companies ("big therefore stable and reliable" logic), so small ones will only encourage big companies to stay competitive.

>>live in richest, [...] country in the world

Because they are to blame for everything.

>Reagan and Bush fuck everything up with lol muh trickle down economics
>Clinton comes in and we have one of the most prosperous decades in history, leaves office with a surplus
>W fucks everything up again with tax cuts for his wealthy donors, a war we had no business being in, and mass deregulation putting the economy into free-fall
>Obama does what he can to unfuck that, half the time with Republican obstructionists in congress fucking with him
>Trump comes in and starts undoing everything Obama did, because anything the brown guy did must be bad, and starts shit with North Korea

Why do Republicans keep convincing voters to let them do the same things over and over with zero proof that it works?

The debt is owned by the citizens, but the wealth is owned by the oligarchs.

Yet people continue to vote for more government spending.
How stupid can you be.
