I'm jealous of American and Canadian roads. I wonder how they can have such great roads with all the money they throw in the army.

Most states have decent highways, streets range from passable to shitty depending on the area. Interstates are almost always excellent

I made a video like this

Why are european cities so tiny though?

German highways are quite good but not perfect.

Actually American roads are absolutely horrid. It would be impossible to pay for decent roads with their low tax rates, and the low population density only makes it worse. Plus nobody ever drives faster than 80 mph there and the semi trucks have more wheels than a tire store and roads aren't even planned to take much stress. So usually their roads covers are thin as shit, wobbly already when freshly paved, and they'll experience next to no maintenance. Especially in the recent decades the American road network has completely fallen apart because of their fear of tax raises. There are hundreds of bridges across the US, among them even highway bridges, that shouldn't even be open anymore.

He's already riding in an SUV or pickup truck with a bedroom's worth of cushioning in the suspension, and he still bounces up and down and has to slow to a crawl for some of the potholes.

Thing is, those kinds of roads aren't uncommon in mountainous regions. Canada and Norway have sinar problems that cause rarely used roads to simply be left to rot because they serve so few people

You have new clue what you're talking about. Interstates are top notch as are most highways. It's mostly back roads in the boonies and streets in shit cities that almost no one uses that are shit

The roads in my part of America and Canada are very poor quality. It's due to the extreme weather fluctuations, from up to 40° in summer to as low as -40° in winter.

>canadian roads

Warsaw looks so developed

THE FRIGGIN POTHOLES

I've been to the US. Luckily my rental grandpa car Grand Marquis had the marshmallow man tucked into each wheel well for suspension, otherwise the driving would've been terrible, especially above the laughably slow 70 mph most of you are doing. Doing Autobahn speeds on your highways would turn into a danger for your life. You only think your awful roads aren't awful because you've never seen a decent road.

shh there are germans around, we don't want to rebuild this city again

Feels good coming home from work every night.

>flat temperate country with few extreme weather fluctuations have better roads than countries that have literal tornados and torrential downpours half the year

Who'd have thought m8.

Need to spend money on those roads to make it easier to import Ahmed's. German efficiency at its finest

while in the Europe dobule lanes are opnly on some sections where passing could be dangerous, in the freedomland there are whole long roads where they are cucked to obey the law and get stucked behind the slower cars
example:
youtu.be/FTnkkMbbCH8?t=6m45s

Their weather is similar to the Midwest (no tornadoes) also, the Alps....

You should watch the documentary from the History Channel on how Germans build their roads, they are far superior, from design to materials.

>slow cars on the left lane

>pepe-the-frog-meme.png

Ahaha, there's construction sites left and right, on which I usually see workers doing work from 12 to noon if at all (maybe once a month), no wonder they take gazillion years (a shitty tunnel of 300m near me took over 10 years)
Those stupid zones are of course always globally 60 km/h, even at night when no one works there either and even when they're perfectly straight
Was at your side of the border back in May, and at least it was 90 there in such zones and there was only one or two I remember (on the same distance we would've had a dozen)

In America it's hard to get around anywhere without a car. Public transportation here is fucking embarrassing. It's like mobile asylums who just pick up mentally ill black people and drop them off in random places. People laugh when you say we should have bike paths. It's easier to come out as gay here than come out as a cyclist. We are like the only country that just doesn't give a shit about cyclists, or for public transportation for that matter. We have Greyhound busses which are like concentration camps. They close all the windows and turn off the AC as punishment for excessive talking and make you sit there boiling on a hot bus at 100 F outside so you can imagine it would probably be 150 F inside.

>It's a law so everybody obeys it lol xd

>It's easier to come out as gay here than come out as a cyclist

gays are far less annoying

R8 NO H8

youtube.com/watch?v=XGt-321gGnc

You not only not give a shit about bicycles and public transport, you actually actively rally against them because your cars are part of what keeps your dysfunctional society seperated by wealth. Imagine if those poor crazy bastards that the rest of society have trampled on to keep more for themselves actually had access to your neighborhoods.

Cyclists are retards who want their own special snowflake projects that cost 1000's of dollars that they ultimately don't fucking use. They're the most whiny pieces of shit in existence

*stupid law
how do you feel with that?

Nah, it's because of NIMBY people who don't want to have to deal with train tracks ruining my property values. Cities with functional public transport in the U.S. are actually generally safer than those without one

>Canadian roads
>great

Lol
L O L

He's German, they make assumptions about places and assume they know more than the people that actually live there.

>confiscating countless properties to build freeways across LA was possible
>ignoring a bunch of whiny loudmouths whose entire retirement fund consists of gambling on muh property value isn't possible

High in the Alps doesn't have roads.

Also, consider the size of countries like the US, Canada, and Australia, and you'll understand why certain stretches of roads in those countries are shitty.

Bycicles are fucking hell dangerous when you are in your car, I wish they didn't exist.

>they make assumptions about places

yup, one day a swede was arguing with me about my backyard

I lived there

Bicycles wouldn't be dangerous if they didn't have to share the road with cars.

>tfw you only have gravel ""roads"" where you live

Canada has one good, not shit road.

LA freeways were and are a recipe in utter incompitence. As such it has the worst planned, while also the most highly trafficked roads in the US with abysmal traffic.

It's after that happened that people started becoming NIMBY's and it only got worse from there.

Then again i can't speak for the whole of Germany, i stayed in the west, around Münster

Did anything in the US ever not get worse since some point in the past?

Spotted those who can't drive for shit

New York City

Really, things are about the same as they've ever been in most places.

Figured it's been the same almost everywhere

While it's true in some cases (there's a nearby overland road which really should have a bike lane to its side, we've been saying it for decades and nothing gets done, just last week and 80-year old cyclist was rammed to death there by a motor bike), on the other hand there ARE douchey cyclists. Like those who will insist to drive on the road even if there's a perfectly fine dedicated and separated bike lane to the side, often even parallel with up to 3 of them, forcing you to slow down to 15 or so if you can't overtake

bikers are annoying here because they don't have their own lanes in most places

im so happy with our roads....German roads are not what they used to be i guess, like 50% is fucking concrete, roadworks everywhere (so you can't go over 80 or slower), was in a traffic jam for FUCKING 4 HOURS because the road workers were doing nothing, bumpy as fuck, so yeah that was my drive trough Germany....

>(a shitty tunnel of 300m near me took over 10 years)
Isn't Switzerland building a tunnel about 50km long?

I really want to drive somewhere in America, looks iconic

Yeah, makes it even more pathetic. Said tunnel here wasn't even through a mountain, but just for "noise protection". In short, influential local politicians bought cheap construction land near the highway and industrial area (cheap because of noisy area), then lobbied for noise protection so their property values would rise, so the tax payer pretty much subsided those already rich fuckers. Reverse socialism yay

Bike lanes take up space that cars could use so they cause more traffic that way, not to mention most cyclists are buffoons who don't follow the road rules and cause more traffic by their own actions. Fuck cyclists

You're a fucking retard. Almost every bicycle out in public is a car not out in public. If more people ride bicycles you'll automatically need fewer lanes for cars.

>Bike lanes take up space
When new ones are constructed here (at least in the countryside), they are separate from the roads, so only some crop fields get diminished slightly

Here a pic from how they did it locally (around 2003 I think), while renewing the road (making it broader and defusing a sharp curve), they added a bike lane separated by a drainage ditch and some trees

Germans really are an industrious and efficient people

You're a fucking retard. You really think people will switch from commuting in their cars to commuting on their bikes just because a bikelane is created? Faggot cyclists are needed to create a demand for the bikelane, not the other way round. As it is right now adding bikelanes are mostly a way for city officials to be seen to be doing something. There has been no noticeable increase of cyclists here, the only difference is now the cars have one less lane on busy roads.

That's fine for new ones, but when they build them on existing roads they take up space that was used by cars before.

You can thank half a century of just puking developments all over the place with no regards to any transportation other than cars in mind for that. Of course no one's going to want to ride bicycles if everything is still horridly far spread out. Over here city folk are crying for more bike infrastructure though.

There is some truth to what he said, companies like GM used lobbyist work that did make you more car-centred (also in the bigger cities) while destroying cable car networks, had watched a couple documentaries about it but no link saved right now

You mustn't forget Murricans usually commute 50km+ from their suburbia to their workplaces, so biking that every day back and forth, unless you're an extreme sportsman, is out of question

Wow Poland looks a lot like America.

Commie mentality of paving huge boulevards between their commieblocks, which is ironic because they didn't expect everyone to be able to afford cars back then.

It's what happens when driving is essentially mandatory in the US.

This is true. Sometimes on such roads one of the lines is solid while the other is dashed, which means the lane closer to the dashed line is allowed to pass while the other isn't.

There's the secret that Sup Forums can't accept.
Europe, America, Canada, Australia, etc are all very similar. We have much more alike than different.
There are very different cultures and peoples, Asia for example. But Europe and the new worlds are basically the same fucking thing. Doesn't matter if Latinate, Germanic, Scandi, Anglo, Balt, Slav, et al. We are basically exactly the same and there is no greener grass, no other side of the rainbow user

>A SEAL-CLUBBING LEAF

Good post, I've observed this overtime and feel the same.

100% nazi

I like US roads because they're almost always two lane divided roads in between cities. But they're not really great roads. For some reason they make too much noise compared to European roads and the roads are sometimes in bad condition.

But it's really fun to drive from one side to the other, scenery is very nice and you'll see a lot of different things.

Spain... meh tier
m.youtube.com/watch?v=h4av8sZG37I

not true
Warsaw was build in 50s. In that time they included car traffic in plans. That's why we don't have tiny italian like streets, but we don't have very wide moscow tier streets either. Country was communist but not totalitarian.

Which is exactly what I just said, except that you said my post was wrong.

I've been to all these places and this is completely true.
I was a little shocked by how similar germans are to Australians desu

Because you were wrong. They really expected that every worker could afford a car in the future, but of course it wouldn't be a car only city like they are in the us.

Albertans roads are sweet pussy considering the weather. I'd kill for double lane highways though, fuck highway 14.

Also, Saskatchewan """"""""""roads""""""""

I have been to 9 countries. USA (obviously), Canada, Dom Rep, Haiti, St. Pierre et Miquelon (nouvelle-france) Ukraine, UK, Ireland, and the Netherlands.
The Dominican Republic and Haiti were different, but everywhere else was at heart the same. Canada has a beautiful country with great people, UK roman ruins, Amsterdam expensive prices and a shit airport, Ukraine had gypsies and gorgeous churches matched only by the women, and St. Pierre was like the best parts of the 19th and 20th centuries combined, but all in all squat or sit, cryllic or latin, nrw or old, I cannot tell the diffetence between us as people.
I have never seen one person in a European country that would not have looked perfectly normal on any American street and would only stand out for the accent.
