tl dr on what happened i got a gayming pc with w10 and i5 6500 how does it affect me? will it make me lose fps?
Jeremiah Bailey
Intel shills will tell you no
Every other source from everywhere else will tell you yes
Jacob Thomas
wait... AMD won?
Carter Walker
At last...
Caleb Young
CPU division did
RTG is fucked beyond levels we’ve seen before
Hunter Miller
can i stop it from making me lose fps? if yes how?
Henry Young
No. drones treat CPUs as a team game. Remember these people are about 12 yo
Joshua Gonzalez
Nope you can’t do anything about it

Is Ryzen 5 1600, 1060 6GB, 16GB 3200 RAM a good choice? First build and got no hecking idea. Vidya, compiling and VMs. 1440x900 75Hz screen

Which systems are affected by Spectre? Almost every system is affected by Spectre: Desktops, Laptops, Cloud Servers, as well as Smartphones. More specifically, all modern processors capable of keeping many instructions in flight are potentially vulnerable. In particular, we have verified Spectre on Intel, AMD, and ARM processors.

Why is the 8400 better than the 7700
Ian Baker
Just to put out something, userbenchmark says the 7700 is a better cpu because of stronger single cores aided by hyperthreading as opposed to two extra, weaker cores.

liking amd must be like being a ricer, nobody thinks your car is worth a damn but you keep fiddling with them and recommending them to people
Tell my why I shouldn't get the C6H over the Asus prime.
Aiden Howard
Fuck up shill
Jose Turner
Just tried to upgrade my mobo, gpu, ram, and cpu all at once to end up with pick related. Couldn't get anything to come up on the screen at all, and error indicator LEDs are on saying that DRAM and CPU are not detected.
Built my own gaming PC a couple years ago, but besides that not much hardware experience. PCPartpicker said the components were compatible, how am I fucking up right now?
Eli Price
make sure the ram in in the 2nd and 4th slot
Carson Roberts
that cpu and ram work on my machine ;)

>But that's one game Best CPU benchmark game currently.
>And the 7700 can oc to 5.0 That's only the K SKU, and if you want to OC you'd get the i5 8600K, which is still cheaper and obviously way better than the i7 7700K. Notice in that benchmark the i7 is tapped out while the new i5 isn't (would be even faster if there were a faster graphics card or lower settings)
Make sure you have CPU power plugged in (along with all other cables / leads) and then get on the phone with your mobo's manufacturer

Suggest a graphic card for this gaming pc build? I want to be able to play the latest titles on high minimum 100+fps
Any suggestions? It's for my mother to play farmville and some CEMU/Dolphin emulation for casual nintendo games. Farmville is really pushing my ram when I test it on my system and am thinking I should get 16gb, any suggestions? I couldn't find any extensive benchmarking of farmville 2.0 to get an idea of what I should build around so i just did some monitoring myself and I'm almost hitting over 8gb on her small(?) farm; she said she could make it bigger but her crappy laptop was stopping her.
You shouldn't be on Intel right now goy. Get Ryzen and overclock to as close to 4GHz as possible.
Nolan Reyes
Yes. buy AMD sir. please sir.
Jose Nguyen
Pajeet meme is going to hit Intel soon, don't forget Raja is there now.
Ryder Cruz
I came to Sup Forums for a reason, if I wanted mindless meme spamming from dbl digit iq mongos I'd ask Sup Forums. There is negligible/no performance loss after testing on KB4056897 for "everyday" computing, especially for a casual user like someone's mother. Also ryzen is still the subpar choice for emulation.
Anyone who actually has some computer knowledge mind chipping in?
Ayden Phillips
Posted this in the last thread here: I've ran memtest86, now, and it detected no errors. Does that really rule out ram? Where do I go from here? I unfortunately don't have any reliable ram to test with, I may try to borrow some from a friend. Considering paying a professional to diagnose this for me.
Benjamin Myers
And if your mother decides to do online banking on that computer? Do your mum a favor and give her peace of mind. It's the least she deserves for giving birth to a brainlet like you.
Liam Phillips
he's right all intel processors of the last 10 years have a major security bug that was revealed yesterday. the patch cripples performance by 30%
Michael Fisher
>30% nice meme

amd does suck, even after this fiasco, Intel processors are still faster...
the only people who will tell you otherwise are the amd kiddies. you can easily identify them because of their memey image posting

so before this meltdown bullshit this was my build:
CPU: Intel i7-8700 (or i7-8700k) Graphics Card: GTX 1060 6GB Motherboard: ASUS Prime Z370-A RAM: 32 GB dual channel DDR4-2666 Storage 1: Samsung 850 EVO 500 GB M.2 SSD Storage 2: Toshiba 5TB HDD (might do 6~8TB) Power Supply: EVGA G3 750W CPU Cooler: Cryorig H5 Ultimate Case: Enthoo Luxe
do I change anything or
AFAIK it only affects servers with the load they put on the procesors
(mostly taken from logiincr, sue me)
Nathaniel Stewart
Post an example of this
Alexander Brooks
AMD better price to performance
Samuel Hall
Get a better gpu, you obviously have the money to do so; I don't see a 1060 seriously holding up for the next year or two. Also I'd get some higher speed ram, if you're going to spend $200 on a ricer mobo that supports 4000mhz you may as well get some ricer ram to go with it.
Joshua James
for gpu's, sure.
Connor White
Keep shilling
Henry Perez
at the very top end, sure. but i7$ ~ r7$ and i7 is faster
i9 vs threadripper, you have a point, except threadripper is a meme, like intel xeon was
Luis Sanchez
not going to bother to pull the video, but hardware canucks for one
Landon Harris
Left is my current build. I want to get a new motherboard, CPU and more RAM. The right is the CPU, RAM and mobo I want to buy. My price range is 400-500. Will this be compatible with my build? Fuck Intel, not gonna go that route.
Nathaniel Long
>intel performs better post security update >amd shills go into maximum overdrive
It's ok user, you can get the update too :^)
Nathan Rodriguez
He loves his Ryzen, he only started shilling again when covfefe lake came out
Joshua James
hey pcbg, got a quick question for you guys:
>yesterday my screen went black while i was playing some vidya games, had to hard reboot my pc. >today when my pc started up i got a black screen w "no input detected", problem was fixed when i connected my monitor to the intel built in gpu
is my gpu dead? I've tried googling but the results i get are always regarding new gpus with the no input detected problem
Joseph Hughes
>in such damage control he forges a benchmark
Ethan Martinez
Any reason you want to upgrade? From all the shilling I've read I thought overclocked 8350's were still holding up this gen
Josiah Jones
What difference would you see using 8 GB DDR4 RAM and 12 GB DDR3 RAM? I need it for school using a virtual environment
Austin Murphy
>>intel performs better post security update Imagine being this big of a shill. Not only is there already performance issues that have already been demonstrated across several widely circulated benchmarks, the worst is yet to come lkml.org/lkml/2018/1/3/770

what GPU? and it's probably dead

Wyatt Cruz
is this a decent enough build to run tf2 on? the budget is 500$
Ya, the only thing that could have compatibility issues would be your psu. Although I'm pretty sure ryzen's have less power draw than their fx equivalents and the pin connections stayed the same, not 100% sure though.
