NetworkManager

What does Sup Forums think of this? I've heard some people hating on it, but i'm not sure why.
If not this, what's a better alternative? Specifically for laptop Wi-Fi

wpa-gui

bump + cute loli

So can that detect/scan for local wifi networks?

Its slow, use connman.

>anime
report + 911 call

dont

is it comfy?
can it do ?

use wpa_supplicant

so can that easily and simply connect to Wi-Fi networks?

>install Debian XFCE on 10 year old ThinkPad
>finish install and boot to desktop
>try to connect to my home network
>wireless is hard blocked
>what the fuck.png
>check all the switches and function keys
>check to see if it's on in the BIOS
>everything should be ok
>boot up Fedora with KDE from flash drive
>wireless works just fine
>also try Windows 7 Pro and Windows 10 Enterprise hard disks
>boots off them fine and wireless works
>do some searching around online
>the problem is NotworkMediocre shitware
>try all kinds of rfkill shit to unblock it
>doesn't fucking work
>end up installing wicd
>reboot and everything works great
I fucking hate NetworkManager.

NetworkManager is ok. If it works for you, use it.

>Its slow
That's deal breaker for a network manager for sure.
Connman can have issues for example with wifi and suspending, because it is less tested and some proprietary wifi drivers are shit.

yeah type in the network name and password in cli
just werks and supports all types of networks unlike (((network manager)))

why would you want to use an application that is not designed with linux in mind on linux? not to mention that it is a horrible mess and needs like 10 patches in every distro for it to work.
cant wait fow iwd to replace this shit

>needs like 10 patches in every distro
well larp'd

It is when it slows down my boot up by 5~10 seconds.

it can connect to wifi somehow... but not simply

Sounds like a bug, it doesn't do that on my computers.

Looking at it some more, it seems like connman is exactly what i want. Simple, comfy cli interface. Seems very minimal without being restrictively so.

Did you check "enable wifi"?
That's a common mistake

Yes. It doesn't fucking work.

nmcli is all anyone needs

>I've heard some people hating on it, but i'm not sure why.
I hate on it, because NetworkManager has the infuriating tendency of fucking with my custom settings whenever a man in Brazil is coughing. I often set weird temporary network settings for one reason or another (maybe I bridge my network card into something, or I set up NAT routing, or somesuch), and then 2 minutes later NetworkManager erases it all for no clear reason. If you ever do something vaguely unusual with your network other than "get internets", NetworkManager is a serious liability.

I just you's the terminal to connect to any internet be it wifi or Ethernet.

This desu
wired: dhclient enp4s0
wireless: wifi-menu

rfkill unblock all

Alternatively `rfkill list' and then `rfkill unblock n'.

More like
Wifi:
Iwconfig wlan0 essid "ssid here"
Udhcpc -i wlan0
Eth0:
Ifup eth0

Is it Lennartware?

It's redhatware/gnomeware. Lennart himself did not have anything to do with it, if that means anything.

it jus werks and has good ui/ux

Everything Lennart made is shit by design so I was under the impression this piece of donkey turd is among his "masterpieces" of shit.

Yeah it's not made by Lennart. It's made by Redhat, and considered to be a GNOME project.
