sorry, I use pfsense

How effective is pi-hole if I don't want to use firefox or chromium?

Literally covers your entire network

But I've heard it doesn't block ads as effectively as say ublock origin does

just another system i can put my trust into that will eventually pin me down and brutally fuck my ass

seems very interesting, gonna give it a try

same. til they port the scripts to work with unbound

for what purpose?

Could also use adguard dns.

>I've heard
the current state of nu/g/

Your router is calling home.

He's right.

It doesn't.

I know, it's blocked. It sends its IP to Linksys servers for accessing my home network easily. Can't turn it off, going to install ddwrt to remedy it

Because NoTrack exists?

What's the point? I already have adblock running on my router.

I have a thing on openwrt that does the same thing and ad/script blockers on every device anyways.

why would i want to pass my whole network through a single 10/100 on a pi? it just doesnt have the power to route traffic.

>Are you a fucking retard?
no, but you are, captain hundred megabit

Pretty sure it's just DNS traffic

It doesn't pass through the Pi, the Pi acts as a dns proxy.

how easy it is to unbreak sites though? i use ublock on chrome and keep IE as the compatibility browser in case adblock starts breaking stuff.

why do you fucking idiots need a separate device to act as a dns proxy? just run it on your router ffs

I setup my pihole but when I set my dns as my pi's IP. none of my device can connect to internet.

>Impacting the performance of your router with random services

It's like you want higher latency

>random services
wow you really are a fucking retard huh

>using a raspberry pi for anything to do with networking

put yourself into the trash

>literally a device with Lenovo in the name

>>I have no idea how anything works: the post
you're literally just typing words, you have no fucking idea about anything at all

Either your wasting 10-20w of power on a device that is under-utilized, with the additional latency of RPI's shit IO since fuck all queries are going to be held in ram for a mostly idle system.

Or youre going to utilize other services like file storage, DHCP squid, privoxy to make up for the bulky, waste of power, but ensuring that the PI will serve DNS queries inconsistently dependent on load of other services.

using the PI for this is simply a inefficient for this. Buy ONE device with sufficient hardware to operate your software.

doesn't the pihole break https?

holy shit, one of you dumb fucking kids is starting to understand

>No just putting this into a cron job:

Pi-Hole looks way too bloated for what it does.
