I have an I5 6500 and a gtx 750, i want to change the gpu later in this year, so i wanted someone to give me a quick rundown on these gpus, or a source for price and requirements.

In what field?

The ads started to appear again I refreshed my ublock origin filters, restarted browser and it still appear can someone send me the addresses to block at dns level (host file)? thanks
There was a pasta a few weeks ago with the servers but I forgot to save it and I'm using another computer

how can free will possibly exist in a deterministic universe? everything is predetermined

how can free will exist in a probabilistic universe? everything is random

how can free will exist in a simulated universe? everything is either predetermined or random

tl;dr if the laws of physics are correct, how can free will exist?

If I'm upgrading my CPU and MOBO, what exactly do I go for now with this whole Intel fiasco? I really want to be able to handle experimental emulation that's highly processor reliant like CEMU and RPCS3, but I just don't know what to look for in a CPU and Mobo now.

>these gpus
What gpus?

the one on the left seems better than the other in all points that aren't equal.
the price is cheaper too.
is there something i'm missing?
or is this actually a legit deal?
not seeing a 'catch'

some user tried to tell me but his compares were for the m500, not the mx500 vs mx300

Fuck i left that in last thread, i meant Radeon vega Gpus

You can just
>right click ad
>block with ublock or whatever it says

>this whole Intel fiasco
apply the software patch(es) like a sane person
enjoy your secure system and negligible/unnoticeable performance decrease

it breaks Sup Forums if I block with the zapper or element picker

I am still perplexed on how to go shopping for a CPU and mobo though. I haven't gotten one in 5 years, and had a friend help me with those two particular components.

Literally this, unless you're running a server otherwise nothing happened.

buy ryzen, a processor that is still safe and not vulnerable

>apply the software patch(es) like a sane person
>a backdoor that can't be executed through remote
>downloading windows/mac/intel spyware
it's not worth it. The patches are relevant for servers only

Is there no slider?
Have you tried all the ublock options?

if you have the money get something like an i7-7700k

anyone ever take a xbox360 hdd and clone it to a ssd?

results?

Go om pcpartpicker and when you choose a cpu itll only show mobos that work

you get a black hole, dont try it

Youd prob get bottlenecked by the cpu

...

>some user tried to tell me but his compares were for the m500, not the mx500 vs mx300
shit, my bad. i'm sorry, i'd check again, but the crucial website isn't loading for me.

judging only by the information you provided, the mx500 is faster, cheaper and has longer warranty. the mx300 has a slightly higher capacity.

the differences between the two are probably the switches they use (tlc, slc or mlc). in general, more expensive switches are more reliable. what bugs me is that the more expensive ssd has the shorter warranty here. seems illogical.

try to find out which switches the two ssds use and inform yourself about the differences between the switches, then decide.

right now and only assuming the data on your sheet is correct, the cheaper mx500 is the way to go in my opinion.

call the store

Anyone ever work for an ISP? Are there actually people whose job it is to just watch over a client's information where they can just see everything a client's done over the internet?

If so, do they ever actually see fucked up things like a person's porn searches?

thanx m8
will learn about switches.

My CPU is bottlenecking my machine.

I have a FX-8320, 8gb of DDR3 ram, and a 1060-6GB on an old ass motherboard.

If I go to replace the CPU, I'll need a new motherboard and ram too right?

>If I go to replace the CPU, I'll need a new motherboard and ram too right?
yes, that is correct. you can use pcpartpicker to choose parts that work together

how can I make windows 10 the least cancerous experience possible?

Tax and accounting software for Linux? Does it exist?

Is there a way to replace the CPU and motherboard of a laptop with more modern hardware?

no

in a few ultra rare cases, yes. but 99% no.

1.uninstall windows 10

2.install gentoo

3. you are now cured

windows 10 LTSB

You aren't really bottlenecked with that CPU/GPU combo. buy a 16GB kit of DDR3 and you'll be good for a few more years if all you are doing is 1080p gaming.

You could just get a chip that uses ddr3 and keep your ram because that shit is expensive

There are some Japanese hackers that have taken the older ThinkPads in the x-series and manufactured new motherboards for them with more current (Skylake) hardware, if you read through the ThinkPad general threads around here (known as /tpg/) you'll find more info.

That's pretty much your only chance, and they've only done it for 2 or 3 models so far, supposedly they're working on a few others.

Can't speak for the pricing on such hardware but I'm sure it ain't cheap.

aha, okay, just read a bit on it, sounds nice. how would I get to this thing without paying?

I'm trying to do VR if that makes a difference. I own a rift now and most stuff runs okay, but certain games like VRchat I need to turn the graphics all the way down and stay away from populated servers.

What would I need to upgrade to get fully VR capable?

The integrated graphics on my i5-5200u are constantly crashing and any program that uses them makes my computer lock up over and over. Are they dying? It's a laptop so am I just fucked?

anandtech.com/show/12165/the-crucial-mx500-1tb-ssd-review

i found something interesting, apparently they both use tlc switches. BUT the usual recommended price for the mx300 is 250 bucks, NOT 290 bucks. that explains the shorter warranty.

it looks like the shop you're at made a mistake with the price listing for the mx300. i'd send them an email and ask, maybe you'll get a discount for telling them, who knows.

after skimming the article i linked i can say for sure that the mx500 is the right choice here, though it's not a 'deal', it's just what the ssd usually costs. the mx300 is a rip-off in this case.

Will future Radeon vega gpus bottleneck i5 6500?, Or they will have some model that will work for it, i wont need anything fancy.

reddit.com/r/Piracy/comments/6dvkbt/full_guide_installing_activating_windows_10_ltsb/

thanks a million, was hoping for this to be the case. u are awesome. btw, the shop was crucial's own site.

thinking about that kind of stuff will only lead you to EXISTENTIAL DREAD

>I'm trying to do VR if that makes a difference.
Yeah, it does. I've not delved into it much myself but I'd assume the ryzen R51600 would do it just fine and coffe lake 8400 and up.

>Are they dying?
maybe it's dying. maybe the igpu is overheating. maybe it's a driver issue.

try uninstalling the graphics drivers with DDU in safe mode and reinstall them and make sure everything is up to date.

>EXISTENTIAL DREAD
i'm way past that, embrace absurdism lol

Thanks! Any ram/MB recommendations or should I just use PCpartspicker?

Hello, is this stupid questions thread?

>reddit.com/r/Piracy/comments/6dvkbt/full_guide_installing_activating_windows_10_ltsb/

damn, thats amazing. sucks about the clean install doe, that'll be a problem. but this is good enough, thanks a lot dude.

>how can free will exist in a probabilistic universe? everything is random
free will means having a personal effect on your environment, not "everything turns out exactly the way I want"

...

>the shop was crucial's own site
that's embarrassing. definitely send them a mail.

I can only speak for the Ryzen. buy faster ram (ie 3000mhz-3200mhz) the CPU will perform overall better with faster RAM. stay away from 3200mhz cl16 however. you won't be able to run it at full speed. if you really want full 3200mhz be sure to get something with a lower latency. and as always with Ryzen cheak around online for QVLs and reports that the RAM you pick will work with your mobo.

Is there anything I can do if they're dying?

hey pals, did you just blow in from stupid town?

What are the legitimate job prospects for someone who majors in computer science and gets an A+ Comp Repair certificate?

replace the faulty hardware. since it's a laptop, this will be either very, very difficult (if you do it yourself) or very expensive (if you send it to a repair shop/the manufacturer). do you still have warranty on that thing? if not, just get a new laptop.

but try DDU first!

guessing, they are trying to milk the last gen overstock.
gotta get them coins from those who don't try to research before they buy.
>hur dur, gotta buy most expensive since it's gotta be da best.

Is an rx 580 8gb a decent upgrade from a gtx 960 2gb and is it a wise investment in the current miner-crazed market? I only need 1080p/60 fps

No, this is Patrick.

>sucks about the clean install doe, that'll be a problem
what do you mean, user?

compare benchmarks from a credible review site you retard

yes, i'm thinking the same thing.
kind of a bum move, but not unheard of.

>I talk of thinks I do not understand

I already know it is a better card, so you can suck my cock.

as a complete ignorant, I understand that needing a clean install means the computer can't have anything previously installed (like a current build of windows 10) or anything of the sort, so I would have to back up the files and all of the sort and store them in an external hard drive I don't currently possess.
is that correct?

then why make such a subjective fucking post, I don't know what you'd consider to be a wise investment

it's about a 35%~ performance incress, I woulden't bother given the massive markup on the rx580. get something a bit stronger or wait to preorder a rx680.

What are the chances of an older motherboard (talking z68p-ds3 old) getting the firmware update?

did you make this post out of your own 'free will' or because the random random movement of the quantum particles in your brain made you do it or was replying to my post the only possibility for you after reading it (actio = reactio)?

try to PROVE that you could have chosen to act differently, i'll wait.

meanwhile libet's experiments clearly show that decisions are made in your brain before you are consciously aware them. how can a decision that is not made by your consciousness be called 'free will'?
informationphilosopher.com/freedom/libet_experiments.html
en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Benjamin_Libet#Implications_of_Libet's_experiments
inb4 libet's 'conscious veto'
newer research suggests that the 'conscious veto' is also decided subconsciously, therefor not 'free'. see ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/18952468?dopt=Abstract

computers can already predict fairly accurately what 'free' choice you will make.

My question is qualitative, not quantitative. If I was simply looking for better numbers, I could easily find the 4gb version of the card I already use

If I buy an iMac, do I have to update the OS when a new update comes?

no. but older OS is increasingly out of date, prone to attack, may not support newer apps.

No, you have to buy a new IMac.

The question of whether spending $600 for a 35% increase is a "wise investment" is entirely subjective

i would suggest updating all of your software on any machine that is connected to the internet, pretty much always.

you don't have to of course, but why pass on new/improved features or risk getting infected with malware (yes, there is malware on macos, no matter what apple's marketing devision says)

I don't plan on going 4k any time soon. I want to use max settings at 1080p/60

if you don't have spare hdd, just shrink/split your current hdd partition into two. Store all your important files in 2nd partition and re-install windows on the current partition.

Thank you. Also, will older versions of software work with High Sierra? If I get on macos, I'll want to download µTorrent 3.2 on it and VLC 2.04.

How do I rice my window manager on windows 10? Can dwm.exe be completely replaced, or heavily modified, and if so, what are some good alternatives?

For what game? Your 960 should be able to handle 1080p/60fps for most shit

a friend sent a file named "i.0.rar.EOC" and wants me to help him recover it
problem is he doesnt remember the password

is there anything i can do to get it back?

Can I easily shrink an NTFS volume, and if so, can I do it while installing gentoo or is it better to do it through windows beforehand

Or should I just move my files off-disk and then repartition?

Looks like my thread didn't work out, so I'll ask here: Where do you go for your general sources of tech news and infotainment type content? I use hacker news and read Joel Spolsky's blog occasionally, I was curious if Sup Forums read anything better.

>go to website
>take headphones off and notice my CPU fan being unusually noisy
>check performance tab in task manager
>CPU usage above 80%
>close website
>CPU usage goes back to ~3%
Was that nigger website stealing my cpu power to mine bitcoins or some shit?

Yes, this is becoming more and more common. Personally, I prefer it to ads, given the choice.

or your porn site has too many fucking ads

Sometimes it's bitcoin mining, othertimes the site is actually so much of a piece of bloated garbage that it eats up your CPU just because it's bad.

y/n?

It wasn't a porn site, it was one of those movie streaming sites that detect when you're using an adblocker and don't work until you turn it off

you could see if things like bblean are still around and supported.

but generally, i would not suggest ricing windows apart from uxtheme/custom themes. too much work and usually makes windows unstable. if you want to rice, install a linux distro on another partition and dual boot. or do it in a vm. ricing windows is not worth it at all.

go with uxtheme patch, some random theme from deviantart and rainmeter (if you need it).

i doubt that dwm can be replaced.

Nioh, destiny 2, overwatch, warframe, and games that come out in the near future. I can max out most of the games I play but not without significant frame stuttering. I like to keep vsync on to prevent my card from shitting the bed

If I want to do Infosec/Cybersec work, do employers really want you to have a bachelor's, particularly in CS? Would other degree types like a cybersecurity bachelor's approved by the NSA/DHS be okay or are those a meme? I don't have a bachelor's, just a community college diploma. Currently can't afford going back, especially not at a 4 year uni with $1000 in mandatory fees even if you only take 1-2 classes.

I don't know which of those games is the most graphics intensive tbqh

Unironically Sup Forums

never had a problem with shrinking non-system ntfs partitions from inside windows. i would be careful with linux and ntfs partitions, it might not behave the way you expect it to when coming from windows.

moving the files is safer either way, but will also take some time.

mostly Sup Forums, most important things get a thread here anyway.
sometimes ghacks, ars technica or phoronix. reddit is also a decent place for news if you entirely ignore the community/comments and all the cancer that comes with the voting/karma system in place.
