Why slide?

fdroid

Best looking one and is also way easier to filter and organize posts and subs.

im a pleb and I got a Moto Z Play. How do I root it? Every time I google I find like 20 different ways of doing it.

Yes. Clue it is.

forum.xda-developers.com/moto-z-play/how-to/guide-root-xposed-flashing-stock-rom-t3529637
always use xda for rooting/unlocking information.

you just gave me a big clue

RAGING CLUE

thank you!

to contribute about apps I know about:

best mindfulness/meditating app: Calm
best audiobook/podcast player: smart audiobook player
best ebook reader: ReadEra
best 1 on 1 video call: google Duo (btfo's facebook, whatsapp and skype)

what exactly is this bootloader?

I'll try my best to explain from my limited knowledge, but I'm sure some other user will call me an idiot and point out where I'm wrong.

As far as I know the bootloader prevents you from messing with the rom or recovery software on the phone. This is generally done for security purposes. Unlocking it means you can then flash a custom recovery (like TWRP) which you can use to flash a custom rom like lineage os.

It's literally one swipe to change threads in clover and vertical tiling is always a plus.

ok makes sense. Ill study the subject more. I want to have my phone rooted because of the benefits....but I dont want to brick my 300$ phone...

there really isn't much risk of bricking a phone anymore. That was really only an issue like 5+ years ago.
Just out of curiosity, what benefits are you looking to get out of rooting? Android has come a long way in the past few years and many of the features that required root before are now incorporated into stock android.

As far as I know:
have only apps I want, being able to delete OEM ones
adblock
the youtube without ads and that can play vids with screen off
F-droid seems like a cool app store
more space since u can move apps to the SD card
better performance and battery

uhhh I dont know really. The only thing that truly pisses me off are ads

hold up i installed f-droid then got newpipe ! it doesnt have ads right?

many of the "features" that user listed are perfectly achievable without root.
Newpipe has no ads, but if you are rooted you can block ads on the official youtube app as well.
systemwide adblock is available through adaway, but I believe there is another app called DNS66 which blocks ads for non rooted users.
Fdroid is perfectly usable without root.
I could have sworn that moving apps to SD card is a native feature of android, but I'm not 100% sure.

>better performance and battery
root won't do this. Maybe flashing a custom rom, but not just root.

Botnet

Fell in love with material notes (on f-droid).

alright so far, newpipe works great but DNS66 doesnt protect me from ads from either Chrome or Youtube official app.

Phone is still fast running 7.1.1 so I dont think I need it right now, thanks for the clarification

Never used many apps but My Boy!Free is nice. Its the free version of a gameboy advanced emulator for my android phone. Don't know if its still good but it was pretty good when i downloaded it back a few years ago. You can use cheat codes and play fan made roms.

Any good RSS reader?

any good games?

Dashchan is the chad's way to browse imageboards.

Any turn-based RPG.

>Chrome
just a suggestion for browser usage on mobile (this is what I do). I use firefox focus and set it as my default browser, and then I also have firefox nightly which I only ever use if I want to save a link and open it later.
Focus is probably the fastest browser I've ever used, so I would strongly recommend trying it out.
Of course if you're using chrome for some kind of desktop sync then this probably isn't worth your time though.

Agreed

I enjoyed Mother 3 English patched a lot on my phone. The screen size and brightness really is an improvement over the GBA SP and hq4x looks pretty good if you don't like big pixels or blur. Pokemon games are even better because playing them at constant twice the speed is so much more enjoyable. I tried playing the new 3ds Pokemon games and they feel so fucking slow now, I'll just wait for Citra to work on phones.

thanks

Amaze (and SD Maid is nice to have too)

I wish i had nice games besides Turn Riight.

I have uninstalled Nova launcher and haven't missed it for some time. I mean, the stock launcher is good enough.

It's pretty good when updates don't break it.
Just switched to Clover, however. Literally better in every way, no reason to go back to Mimi.

>I have uninstalled Nova launcher and haven't missed it for some time. I mean, the stock launcher is good enough.
I only use nova launcher to hide everything from my homescreen so I can use KLWP.

>XPrivacyLua is under development
it's almost time to upgrade to nougat

This.
Better than 99% of the playstore games.

This thread is incredibly friendly and polite.

Dashchan for Sup Forums since clover keeps shitting the bed and giving me a generic "error posting" when I try to post something.

yo shut up

Sup Forums client: Clover

What are the benefits of Amaze over Solid Explorer?

Why isn't shuffle on f-droid? I like it pretty much and it's open source.

Solid explorer is proprietary and owned by a chink botnet.
Amaze is open source and fdroid verified.

I think the developer just hasn't contacted fdroid and told them to upload it.

Is Amaze that much better than Simple Tool's file explorer?

anyone used ES File Explorer Pro? is it worth the $2 or whatever?

No

no

Why Solid Explorer needs IMEI?

>calm
You pay $5 a month for a fucking app? App rip where?

newpipe sucks because I can't log in

Fucking newfag, you're supposed to remove all traces of google from your life. Newpipe lets you subscribe using it's own system, so you don't actually have to subscribe with a google account.

how?
can i export my subscription list? no? Well then it's shit software. Going to buy Youtube Red now :)

You click subscribe on the channel page. You're a lazy fuck dude, get off this board.

The best YouTube viewer is actually just the regular YouTube app either patched with lucky patcher or Xposed modules to remove ads and allow background playback, then the YouTube app set to manual update

It's not useless, just subscribe manually to the people you view. It's a good way to get rid of any channels you don't need anymore.
Get off Sup Forums, no one supports your dumb opinion here.

Backround audio? Pop-up player? Downloading videos for offline?

>"g-get off Sup Forums"
>can't even write code to export subscriptions into an OPEN SOURCE application
pathetic

Agree with most of the above but I prefer Brave as a browser because you can playback YouTube in background and custom ads/tracking, JS, 3rd party cookies, HTTPS everywhere, and fingerprinting protection. Works best if you have slow data speeds because by clicking JS, the website will be smaller size and thus faster to download only what you look for it also helps to block ads/tracking as this helps with page loading.

Flym.

you do it then, since you need it so bad.

what's your game, OP? What are you getting out of people installing your shitty video player? Or are you actually just that proud of what you made? if that's the case, fine by me, just actually, y'know, use a trip

Damn thanks this is the note app I've needed for years

Shuttle for music
Textra for texting
Clover for Sup Forums
Material Note for notes
Newpipe for jewtube
Brave for internet
Bluemail for email

Don't care about anything else but out of everything I've tried these are my favorites

I always had fun with Pokemon Emerald and Fire Red.

Qiku's stock ROM apps are quite nice.

Anyone try XprivacyLua? Only released this week.

It's actually Google's fault. Why don't you ask them why they don't have the feature of exporting your subscriptions?

Except it doesn't have any useful features, unlike NewPipe, and is heavier.

Firefox has all of those features you listed in Brave. In fact, Firefox was the first browser with background media playback.
It also has superior adblock. uBlock Origin is over a hundred times more efficient than adblock plus.

Be very careful it's very long and confusing
