Is two monitors a huge meme...

Is two monitors a huge meme? I currently own a macbook pro and was thinking of buying two monitors to attach to it and use the retina display as a third monitor, but this really make sense?

I never used two monitors in my life.

>mac
Found your problem.

Nobody buys it.

>Is two monitors a huge meme?
Entirely depends on what you do. What do you do on your computer?

Everything, from coding to watch porn.

What are the uses of two monitors?

I had three for a long time until one of them died and I couldn't find replacement that matched the other two. I found them utterly invaluable for programming (having a large number of terminals, projects and files open in parallel), playing D&D over the Internet (when you have to have five people's character sheets, two reference documents and several chat windows open you really need it) and for Blender, where it allows you to have everything from compositor nodes to animation open in one display.

documentation on one screen. editor panes on the other

If you can't think of a use case for having two monitors, then you obviously don't fucking need two monitors

now you can watch porn while you code

Try it and you'll never want to go back.

>two monitors
as if it wasn't enough of a literal pain in the neck to constantly be looking to the very left edge of the screen to read code, now look even further to the left and right? i cant even handle split screen coding cause i have to look so far to the left and right. how do programmers manage this shit???

I don't know about you but I can look to either edge of either monitor by just moving my eyes. it isn't a "pain in the neck" at all.

>can't even look at the edge of his screen

i can fucking physically look at it, but its uncomfortable for any period longer than a couple minutes

me too buddy. Sometimes i split my tmux terminal then forget about the other side of the split for 2 hours, and create new windows instead.

Why would you want to move your head when you can press a key instead?

Multiple monitors for programming is a meme. I am much more comfortable with tmux and/or splitting windows in vim than multiple monitors.

why?

Personally I did not know at all what to do with the other monitor when I added it. Then I grew to it and now prefer to use 2 monitors if possible. Wishing to start to use 3 someday.

You can look at something while interacting with something else, and it greatly reduces the need to switch between windows. For coding, you can look at documentation, logs or whatever you are editing, while making changes on another monitor. When writing papers, you can look at your sources without having to switch windows. For gaymen, you can do other shit during loadings screens or downtime.

I personally don't find PCs with only one monitor usable.

ignore what others have said, the only True Use of second screen is to have a safety porn clip loaded, in case camera suddenly zooms on dick on your main screen when you're about to nut

One for monitoring your cctv, the other for working.

cant imagine not having 2 monitors

Yes, they are a meme.
I have two monitors in my office, but I always use one.
