Oculus vs Vive! What would you recommend and why?

Vive, easily. Had both, vive is better.

vive pro

Wouldn't the pro be mor expensive?

Haven't oculus died already?

yes and more better

None. They are all proprietary botnets.

no vr is experiencing growth, slow and steady

The Vive is hands-down the better platform. Better tracking solution, better design for scalability in the future, more room for user repair and customization and more attention from the devs of the most primo VR experiences.
There is something to be said for the price point and quality of the out-of-the-box experience of the Rift, though.

Well you would recommend me the vive :D thank you then, but i would hear more from you about it if its ok

What is there to hear? It's the better roomscale VR platform and a pretty good seated one too. You should probably know what you want out of a headset by now if you're asking which of the two expensive options is better.

rift supposedly has better controllers

the rift, for sure. Vive is already old

wait, old? :D

what are you talking about you nig, they're both relatively the same age
do you not know how to reply to people or are you shitposting?

tfw want a vive but only have a 970 and 3570k

the man in the store told me it would be future proof :(

DONT BUY ANYTHING

Vive2 is around the corner

im sry, im new on Sup Forums and hadnt any idea how to reply

>not waiting for second gen vive with wireless adapter

this is assuming OP is at least top tenth percentile for that to be justified

Assuming price is a factor here since you don't list the Vive Pro. The Rift is $200 less and comes with significantly better controllers. If you buy a third sensor you get pretty much perfect room scale tracking, and still at $140 less than the Vive.

yeah not with the Vive Pro package coming out Q4 this year. Vive 2 not until 2020 at least.

run while you can

vive pro is vive 2 obviously

Vive, but wait for vive pro. Oculus is hot garbage and exists as bait for idiots that have no idea how VR actually works.

is vive still the right choice if you never wanna leave your chair? I just want it as a cockpit simulator. (not OP)

Explain

The room-scale stuff is one of the main advantages of the Vive. Not sure there would be a significant difference in seated play.

all the room scale stuff seems very gimmicky. I wanna do it for actual immersion, and maybe a bit because it's appealing not the have your screen at a fixed spot, seems ergonomic

This is not VR

The Right and Vive are pretty similar honestly. Same resolution and FOV, and similar weight. There have been claims that the actual FOV of the Vive is larger, but I haven't seen any definite proof of it. Outside of that, the Rift comes with much better controllers. Valve has their Knuckles controllers in development, which look excellent, but hasn't given anything resembling a release date.

If money isn't important I would wait for the Vive Pro. From what I've seen it's a serious improvement.

Room scale is the final piece of the puzzle for VR to be amazing. I have Oculus and Vive the Vive is far superior despite minor differences in the display that push some normies to say the Rift is better so they can read facebook on it like the faggots they are. Look up the room size differences, see if you can make the room for a proper room scale set up, even the small space is worth it.

VR without room scale is great. VR with room scale is fucking amazing.

>, see if you can make the room for a proper room scale set up, even the small space is worth it.
no, and again, I don't wanna stand up doing it.
Either way I have a tiny apartment and could never dedicate a room to anything.

I bought an Oculus a couple of weeks ago but returned it. VR is fucking shit, and nothing more then a fad at the moment.
The quality is not that great, somewhat blurry for me on some instances because glasses don't fit inside. I have a lot of hair and putting on the headset was a huge chore. There isn't that many worthwhile games or content, some stuff is cool but it becomes boring after a few minutes. The cable is extremely annoying and can get in the way. The quality of the porn is not that great either.
I'll probably get one when they become wireless and have 4 or 8K panels. But honestly I like AR a lot more then VR.

This is a request if anyone has that photo of the asian man leaned against his living room wall with barely anything inside his apartment watching something on a VR headset. The caption on the photo was talking about how this man can still watch his favorite tv shows thanks to the headset. The way the picture was shot was that the man is on the left side of the photo leaning up against the wall sitting down.

ffs xD not again, someone send me ones this picture and it burnes into my mind

Do yourself a favor and let the dumb beta testers do it for free (yet paying for prototypes) and wait for a fully integrated wireless and foveated experience.

Wait for vive pro.

Get a haircut and a LASIK, hippie
