RELEASE WHEN?

...there are new GPUs on the way? Since when?

APRIL - MAY

probably

770 > 960
970 > 1060

So I think the 1070 is gonna perform better than the 2060.

do you fellers think that 1070 will be enough for current and future games on absolutely lowest settings, 2k res and 120+ fps?

Yeah but 760 ~ 960

2060 = 1080
2070 = 1080ti/Titan Xp
it's been like that since 600 series

>970 > 1060

is this a bait?

There's no 800 series if that's what you meant.

1160* 1170*

no

What I meant is that there is sometimes no generational improvement at all. 760 is a cut down mid-sized chip, 960 is a full small chip. We can't judge by the series alone.

if nvidia goes from 9XX to 10XX and then to 20XX they must be retarded

1060 dwarfs 970 in any possible comparison. Surely 970 has a somewhat better OC headroom, but still 1060@2100 mhz will destroy 970@1500.

970 is like 10% worse than a 1060. Has 3.5gb rsther than the retarddd 3fb or 6gb. Like wtf why did the 1060 just have one model with 4gb. You either pay for too much or too little

1060 6GB that is. The 1060 3GB is a piece of shit

I love my 1080. I don't think I'll need to upgrade for a long time.

the 3GB 1060 is a stripped down (lower binned?) version of the 6GB - it's not just the VRAM they changed

7 to 9 to 10 to 20 if you don't count the mobile 8

Even 1060 didn't outperform 970 so why 2060 would?

Except it did.

>1060@2100 mhz
Nice meme
>970@1500
Can be clocked higher though

The 1060 3GB outperforms 970 3.5GB.

2060 4GB will outperform 1070 8GB.

Only when 3.5G vram are insufficient

Will the GTX 2xxx series finally make me retire my 980Ti? I was going to spend $850-ish on a top tier binned 1080Ti but figured I'd wait 1 more generation seeing as 1440p 60fps is my goal.

Funnily it's the other way around. Any 1060 can get to 2100, not every 970 can clock up to 1500.

A full 1060 outperforms 970 in any scenario mate.

Are you dumb kids using 4k benchmarks or something?
OP there's no telling how powerful the 20 series will be. It could just a refresh of the 10 series.

Mmmh, 1440-60 is your goal with 980ti or with a new card?
I went from 980ti to 1080ti for 1440-144.

2070 will make it obsolete.

right now 980ti is close to 1070, 1070 ti and 1080 is better by roughly 20%, 1080ti outclasses it by good margin, but that's expensive.

2070 @ $350 MSRP (kek) would be the ideal, chances are its not gonna be set at that price. Its probably going to be $399 to $450 since they can dictate the market without any competition from AMD

1440p at 60hz is my goal for the new card. 980Ti almost meets that mark but there are some AAA games out there that use more vram, and need more grunt than the 980Ti can give. I can get my card to 1600mhz core clock which usually nets me 45fps minimum in even the most demanding games. But I'm looking for a smooth 60fps with all the eye candy turned on.
I have the money to buy the top dog. I.e. the 2080 when it launches. I paid $830 for my EVGA GTX 980Ti classified and it has performed very well. I fully intend to pick up another classified model of whatever the latest and greatest is.

It's sad really. I had such high hopes for Vega. I was going to buy a Vega frontier edition with the 16GB HBM. But Vega as a whole turned out to be an underperforming furnace of a card. Who knows? I may just keep this card until the GTX 3xxx series if the 2xxx seems like a flop.

First of all, it's the 1160, not 2060.

Second, hard to say. Typically that's how NVIDIA's performance has worked, but Volta might change things.

My 970 cant hit 1500. Its an evga ssc and i dont oc it because its never stable in all applications

>GTX 20xx from GTX 10xx

They skipped 8xx, and now they are skipping 11xx-19xx. Fucking why?

THIS D E S U

8xx are mobile chips, fuck knows why.

Naaah. Volta is tech from Q3 2017. It got held and likely will get gimped because it will still edge out Vega.

Pajeet killed this generation's GPUs. Wait for whatever comes next. 2060 will likely = 1070. Basically, you'll be getting 10% improvements across the board in performance, but something like 30-40% power efficiency improvements as a result of gimping.

11-19 is bit confusing. Its better to start fresh with 21-29

Good god Nvidia why? I never thought AMD would have a better setup for generations than Nvidia.

Binning doesn't affect pascal because of how low their hard voltage limit and if you hard mod to get around the voltage limit GPU boost 3.0 has arbitary logic to reduce performance.
The 1060 3gb has one less cluster(I think they're called SMs or something) of CUDA cores.
The 1060 3gb is rarely worth buying unless it's exceptionally cheap, which it often is, or everything else is sold out.
The 1060 6gb is basically a 980.
I would be shocked if the 2060 beat the 1070. There is absolutely no pressure on nvidia and they're only competing with themselves. If it does outperform the 1070 OC to OC then it's because nvidia believe die-shrink vega will be competitive.

Did those get announced at CES 2018? I'm out of the loop

What are you smoking?
1060 is usually at 980 level, easily beats the 970
