What the fuck are these and why would I get one?

What the fuck are these and why would I get one?

high density magnetic drives.. great if you need alot of space in a small area and speed does not matter for you.. the helium allows them to use even denser magnetic disc spacing..

conclusion: unless you are interesting in data servers, it is useless for you.. go for SSDs

They are regular hard drives that are slightly faster than regular ones.

Helium is less dense than air, so there is less resistance for the platter as it moves, thus making it slightly faster.

Just get a fucking SSD.

a 10tb ssd would cost at least 1000x more than that hdd

>what the fuck are these?
An expensive way to kys
>why would I get one?
if you want to kys

8tb helium costs around 300~$

Nigga I'm HODLing right now

That isn't how you do a keg stand

Bro it's a party till you drop for a reason.

>Just get a fucking SSD.
yeah great, where the fuck can I buy a SSD comparable to the HGST Ultrastar Hs14 with 14TB faggot.

SSD's are for OS and muh games, for storage we still need HDD's

>Don't install any games on 120GB SSD
>it's mostly full.
It's a pain in the ass to replace the SSD/HDD because the case sucks.

why do you type like a retard

you can huff the gas on the inside

>moving parts

How do you stop them floating away?

you hold the string dumbass

I wonder how long the helium will actually stay inside.
Helium molecules are smaller than air and will eventually find their way out of that thing.
After the warranty expires, drive will probably instantly shit itself when surprisingly all of the precious gases have escaped.

Magnets

Helium has less friction than O2. Makes the HDD last longer.

Probably something to do with having thicker materials holding it in than a really thin piece of rubber.

shouldn't a properly engineered seal solve this?

...

Speak for yourself, faggot. We don't all require 14tb for porn or other bullshit.

Buy a WD easystore on sale, 140-180$. Inside? Brand spankin new 8tb WD red helium drive.

not proven by time YET ... they might hold up 5 years - but shouldn't that be 10 ? when properly stored and barely - not heavily used?

Why are they using helium instead of nitrogen?

>We don't all require 14tb for porn
Speak for yourself, faggot.

HDD speed is directly correlated with density. higher density = higher speed. it's pretty much the only way left to actually speed up the things.
