Well, yeah... I can't say I'm blameless in the matter. I bought some 1060 w/ 6GB's a half a month ago... for crypto mining of course.

i actually purchased 15 1060s off amazon last month for about $299 a pop.
theyre all mining right now behind me

You're best off just getting a 3GB version for $280, and waiting for the crypto craze to die down (bitcoin guaranteed to tank in value by at least 50% some time this year, which will relieve the pressure on GPU prices).
Aaron Sullivan
>waiting for the crypto craze to die down When will it happen? I had plans to upgrade PC in 2019.

also a good find....ty
i considered the 3gb version.... but the few people I asked said that I should go for the 6gb....
I do not currently play anything that is too intensive.... (overwatch, SWTOR, STO, occasionally LOL )
Might do a little video editing however... which is why they advised the bigger one.
thoughts?

You could always spring for a GTX 970
Brandon Gray
honestly unfamiliar with it....
trying to stay in the $300-350 range....
open to alternate suggestions

970 is roughly equivalent to the 1060 in terms of performance , about $100, $150 less on used market.
The 6 GB would be nice to have, but at a premium of $250+, it's not worth it unless you're doing more demanding games than what you're talking about.
Unless you're doing adding 3D effects to videos, video editing is more dependent on CPU performance than GPU performance, so that shouldn't make much of a difference.

Guys, sorry to barge in.
I have a GigaByte 980 G1 Gaming (non TI). I'd like to sell it, used, then market for a new GPU later on.
How much should I ask for it?
Kayden Sanders
nah... not doing 3d or anything fancy.....
if being totally blunt... mostly splicing OC porn....LOL
shall have to give this a bit of thought but seems reasonable enough.
I want something that will keep up with most normal games and stuff for the next few years, but not looking to spend half the build cost on it....lol
