Do you have dead man's switch in your computer? Any recommendations what to do?

Do you have dead man's switch in your computer? Any recommendations what to do?

For example could I have a button when I push it it would lock down my computer with encryption?

there's open source software you could just encrypt the start up files on a computer, without the password it won't even boot up
you can research Comparison_of_disk_encryption_software on wikipedia

also I believe encrypting a whole computer takes time so a special 'quick' button solution wouldn't work very well,
maybe you could make a button that 'tries' to delete everything, but that seems risky

I use bluetooth signal. If my computer detects that it's been too weak for 5 seconds it will lock down the whole computer.

At least 100kg of PETN. right in the computer case.

Decorate with blue and green LED for safety.

I'm not an Iranian political dissident or targeted journalist. Nor am I a terrorist, child pornographer, or dark web drug dealer. I therefore have no need for extreme measures like that.

>It doesn't even have anything written in it like EXPLOSIVE PERFORMANCE or GODLIKE KABOOM.

How is being a pleb in 2018?

I just have a key switch and a locked case
You'd have to severely damage the chassis to turn it on without a key.

You use simple encryption based fast deletion. You have full disk encryption and your key for that is also on your computer, the bootloader automatically decrypts the disk that way. The button only needs to delete the key and all your data is inaccessible.

You using it too would help prevent its mere use from pointing toward undesirables.

This argument works for things like end-to-end encryption but not for extreme over-the-top things like a dead man's switch.

Yea, guess I'm a child of the 2017s and getting old.

>It doesn't even have anything written in it like EXPLOSIVE PERFORMANCE or GODLIKE KABOOM.
Is this written in comic sans or chang chang? Do I put glitter or dick stickers on the writing? Is it armored?

I don't even know.

>not using it to hide your normal porn from your mother.
you monster.

>measures are ok but extreme measures aren't even though they are for preventing the exact same issue

nice logic

Drill on a hydraulic ram placed under the handdrives t b h

Do you live in an impenetrable bunker with 24/7 armed guards and booby traps? Or do you just live in a normal house/apartment with some simple measures such as locking doors and maybe an alarm system?

Exactly. You aren't in an extreme situation, so it would be silly to take extreme measures.

A bit of thermite and blasting caps above the harddrive.
Triggered by a tilt sensor.

Evidence planting is a thing you know.

That's kind of the opposite of the point. How would you push it if you die? What you really want us a button that locks down your shit if you DON'T push it within a reasonable timeframe.

A simple example would be if you encrypted the whole disk using dm-crypt and then had a script running that will wipe RAM and power off if you don't tap the power button for a couple hours.

I would if I could afford it. I don't think it's silly or unreasonable at all.
