DOCSIS was the step in the wrong direction that caused everything wrong with North American internet service providers. It was an investment that is paying off big time. They have used the profits of beating everyone to market in the late 90s to buy everything, now including the FCC.
Cancer is a perfect analogy for the effects DOCSIS had on the telecommunications industry. It slowly took over and grew bigger, they jacked up the service prices like crazy, killed off as much competition as possible.. And now that cable TV is on life support, they want to retain the most profitable jewish tactic they imposed through it.. Content based service tiers.

They blame it on streaming services and claim it's "too congested" but that's laughable.

Municipal and county run internet will roll back the effects of the cancer that was/is DOCSIS.

Anti-NN trumpboys and divisive shills will respond with something along the lines of "muhfreemarket" or "soyboy cucknigger socialist" or "LESSER OF TWO EVILS" or "reddit spacing"

The media companies wanted trump. He's good for business, and probably collects dividends from his jew masters in the media for being so inflammatory and getting viewers. They have massive hardons for Trump. He appointed that poo lawyer from verizon to shit on everyone. He knows the difficulties ISPs face to get their way.

Local government action is now required to dissolve the monopoly caused by this one little cable and protocol. Just thought you should know.

Literally nothing wrong with DOCSIS. It's comfy everywhere in Europe.

What's wrong is the fake free market in Burgerland that fucks all your shit up to please a few rich dudes.

CableLabs intended to roll out as quickly as possible to corner the market by taking a shortcut. There's nothing inherently wrong with DOCSIS as a protocol.. It's just who made it, and the reason it was made. It stopped a LOT of real innovation, competition, and effort in the telecom space. We could be so far ahead by now if people pushed to create real fiber infrastructure instead of relying on shortcuts. Now the media giants are the ISPs.

Time to get back to

Technology

The OP isn't about technology. It's a thread. Just because he sneaked DOCSIS in it doesn't automagically remove the political stance it takes.

i just hate those fuckin bullshit twisty f connectors

docsis is garbage that cant into proper upload speeds(literally everyone sells 1000tbps download speeds but only 20mbps upload) and costs too much to the end user.

also many isps market with the download speed but wont say anything about the upload speed unless you find the contract somewhere where it says on page 304 that its up to 20mbps

Except docsis works as intended and only the end user is retarded by accepting the contracts from their ISP's.

This is not the problem in europe because on most countries Every ISP is held accountable by a separate governament company.

i live in eu and get only 50/10 for 30€/month. thats the cheapest they sell here and its very expensive compared to other countries that apparently get gigabit connections for 10€/month

I get 250/50 for 20€, gigabit is in the 100's department where I live but the offset is that I get a Landline,TV, 5 Cellphones and one of those Portable Modems to lug around.

So i'm gucci.

>the end user is retarded by accepting the contracts from their ISP's.
I literally only have comcast as an option. I can't even get dial up now, and cell service sucks here so mobile internet isn't an option.
It's obnoxiously expensive, I'm paying over $100 a month for 75/12. But it's the only option I have.

How do I create a fiber optic based ISP?

I'd say sue them as they aren't providing alternatives and making you overpay for a service they don't deliver, but I'm pretty sure that's illegal.

You ask your regional ISP to lay cable to your house then you buy several hundreds of thousands worth of equipment to get an internet connection.

I get the speeds I pay for, it's just exorbitantly overpriced. Every few months they'll jack up my rates with hidden fees and shit, and I have to yell at the customer service reps on the phone for an hour to get it cleared off my bill.
They randomly started charging me equipment rental fees at one point and I use all my own hardware.
Worst of all, I'm in TN, where our fucking reps are bought and paid for by comcast. They actively legislate against competition. If you wanna get angry, read about google fiber in nashville.

Then go to your local gathering spot, ask for signatures and go to federal court with your entire city.

I wish I could user, I don't have the time, motivation, or know how.
I'd happily support someone elses endeavor to do so though.
In any case, actually damaging comcast is pretty much a fantasy in the current system. Any legal action taken against them will probably hurt less than they gain by dicking their customers around because our legal system is too gutless and corrupt to do anything about it.

Glad to be in an FTTH area

It's not about the actual damage to the company it's the image it get's from the damage.

>only have comcast as an option
Take a look at comcast in an area with real competition.

No 1TB data cap either.

Image means nothing when you have no options, and their image could only be worsened if you found out they were mass murdering kittens or something.
Everyone I know hates comcast with a burning passion already.
fuck

>fuck
Yup, charging anywhere near $100 for 75mbps is just fucking insane.

how do you americans call these numbers that have letters in them?

On the phone there are letters. ABC is a single number for example.

false flag commie shill
Ajit is fucking BASED

yes but i cant enter letters in the phone app

Why do Sup Forums conspiracy theorists all make their threads the exact same way?

...

You just dial the number that corresponds to the letter on the keypad.

Why do corporate shills love the taste of boots?

>for the first 12 months

>with no term agreement

so if the price gets jacked up you just cancel.

Why do I have to ask another ISP to make sn ISP and what equipment is this?
