looks legit

Steve is /ourguy/, definitely legit.

>freeware
>steve gibson

ya, no.

Ok, i'm confused now... I though Intel was affected by meltdown, yet i'm only vulnerable to specter?

BTW here are the results

what's wrong with freeware?

nice try OP

So it's safe or not?

false positive

It was made by the same person who made DNS Benchmark, so I'm sure it's legit for real.

So is my specific processor just immune to Meltdown or is there something im missing?

It actually is a trojan, and I fell for it. Fuck you op

>no one would ever make malicious software when they've previously been trustworthy

Guess I'll run this in my VM

I made a scan of the .exe with MalwareBytes and nothing was found.

monito bobo jksajskjaksjakjskajsk

So, I scanned with Common Sense, it says it is virus.

ran it on my vm with all protection and antiviruses turned off, and nothing bad happened

his podcasts are pretty decent (no shill)

Hahahahaha macaco

his stuttering is annoying and his "sleep formula" homeopathic medicine is also annoying to listen to for 20 minutes each episode

>all the clueless idiots in this thread (OP included)

this doesn't fix shit

>I made a scan of the .exe with MalwareBytes and nothing was found.
...using software to identify if a hardware flaw was exploitet that grants access no software can detect or protect from... okay...

>and nothing bad happened
What do you expect ?
Popup: Your information was just stolen by a hardware flaw the software can't detect.
Popup: PC will set itself on fire to commit sudoku in shame. ?

You've got to be trolling.

Fuck me

this + his cohost is an annoying faggot
otherwise really good podcast

Your system.may already be patched

Oye ql no molestes al niƱo

>gibson
>GIBSON
No hacker would touch that. It's as obvious as warning coloration.

Sheit, my 8350 is vulnerable to Spectre. Thank God I don't have that Bond film downloaded.

>freeware
>not free software

It says that my operating system (win 10 enterprise) hasn't been patched yet. Fuck yes

is this legit?

All this does is check if you're patched.
It doesn't fix anything?

Win32.Generic is sooooo false-positive...
this board is getting downhill thanks to you.

their reputation would be destroyed. i don't think they want that

Does it look like he has the source code for the processors? Qhat type of dumb question is this?

Download has been out for a couple of hours, pajeet.

How can you tell?

>Does it look like he has the source code for the processors?
No fucking shit he doesn't, that's why I'm saying OP is a retard for titling the thread "Best Fix for Spectre and Meltdown", you moron. It was a rhetorical question.

I don't have the Spectre protection. Is this a windows update or a bios thing? My board has not had any updates.

GRC is as legit as legit gets. Do I seriously live in a time when kids don't know what GRC is?

It's nice knowing you guys

Times are-a changin'

>not patched
how stupid can you be
I hope you dont browse sites with javascript enabled.

I hope you don't spread your faulty genes in the population.

b-but my CPU performance

Yes, awesome. Thanks mister Sup Forums ^^

alright!! same-o same-o

likely a false positive

Considering what it needs to access, it's to be expected.

Your CPU suffers like a 2% decrease with the patch, assuming you have a CPU from 2015 and up.

The only way you'd even notice a difference is if you're constantly pushing your system to the max

wow it really works. my intel cpu performance instantly dropped 30%. thank you kind sir

I have i5-3570 and I can't see a difference. On the other hand my parents old quad core got noticeably sluggier but still usable.

>malware bytes

2500K 4.6Ghz

don't run it

retard

Okay, a simple program testing for vulnerability? Sure, plausible enough. It protecting against anything else exploiting it? I don't fucking think so. It not itself being an exploit? Not gonna bet on that.

It uses this to enable/disable those mitigations:
support.microsoft.com/en-hk/help/4073119/protect-against-speculative-execution-side-channel-vulnerabilities-in
I posted it a week ago.

go fuck yourself, cockhole

the program is clean, you cretin.

>packed code section
>93kb of 122kb in file is unpacked icons
Sure seems legit.

it's a stupid shit and spectre is a meme

It's x86 asm. Steve won't write in fucking java, pajeet.

you are stupid, shit and a meme.

It literally calls a few Windoze APIs and checks integers, and does this in assembly.

t.stupid hohol faggot

kys already you annoying retard

eat shit and die already.

firefox and waterfox are already patched dumbo

I just installed the meltdown/spectre today while brainless browsing without it. How fucked am i

besides being stupid and having a two-digit iq, you should be fine. please don't have kids.

Isn't it just a frontend for the powershell commands?

>It literally calls a few Windoze APIs and checks integers, and does this in assembly.

>claims to know how it was written
>freeware not free software

This doesn't check out at all.

The only thing I've noticed is i have to lower my Witcher 3 graphics config a little bit as i sometimes get slight stutters, any other use of my processor had no noticeable difference
>inb4 gayming
I have free time to spare

Was the Bois patch still recommend btw?
It was just released today.
So far crystal disk benchmark as shown me a around 10-15mbs slower writing speed

>Bois
Idk, you decide. It's different from one MB to another anyway.

It is written in x86 assembly, pleb.

sorry i dont speak illegal immigrants language

It's how Steve Gibson always writes his shitty toy programs. I love the guy though, such a kook.

I can tell you how it works.

It's a front end for Powershell that uses the Powershell script to check the status of the Meltdown and Spectre mitigations.
These protections can be disabled or enabled through registry, so it can edit those keys too.

Performance is just a bullshit if/else.

>I have free time to spare
Everyone here does.

>freeware
>gibs

intel is vulnerable to both melthdown and spectre

>t. grc

looks like it, just with better explanatory text

Meltdown is easy to mitigate and all major OS vendors have already pushed out fixes.

When McAfee says something is a trojan you know it's safe to execute.

>bentium 4
>vulnerable to both
thank you based grc

>check windows for update
>no update
>still says im vulnerable
what do?

Install Gentoo

already tried that but to no avail

Do you have AV that set the required reg key for the updates to appear in Windows Update?

>Baidu
>alibaba
We cs/g/ now

What do you mean?

You need a CPU microcode update as well.
This may come through a BIOS update.

>download and execute this literally-who-party, closed-source software to see whether you've vulnerable or not!
oh wow

UMA

I'm sorry that this is your first day on the Internet.
