What will you do when it's finally dead?

What will you do when it's finally dead?

Complain to Hiro until he adds a proper captcha.

I already moved from Sup Forums.

Not my problem.

Post as usual

>captcha is only good against automated "buy viagra" spam anyway

Are you a newfag?

The point is that captcha only blocks the simplest of bots.

Why would be I be doing anything...?

don't tell me you ACTUALLY click those damn boxes every time you post

No I solve it using they keyboard

which is 99.9999% of the problem

you can buy CAPTCHA solves, people farmed it out to india/china, google countered this by greatly limiting the validity of solves from 12+ hours to less than 20 minutes (v2 is even more aggressive).

reCAPTCHA in v2 also measures the user's mouse movement if javascript is enabled among other things and is harder to bot.

in reCAPTCHA v2 support for users who have disabled javascript is disabled by default, whereas it's automatically supported in v1 and this can be used to make it easier to bot. another reason v1 is being deprecated

Exactly. And that's why a self-hosted captcha is just as good as recaptcha.

Leave Sup Forums forever.

>advanced risk analysis engine
>literally just starts rejecting your captcha answers after 5-10 captchas and stops working completely after 40-50
>don't forget the fucking 30 second fades

>actually advocating for v2
>not a shill

one, and only one

Post less, finally going away from this shithole.

This seriously

>loopchan doesn't have this issue to begin with

no. object recognition is way harder to bot.plus google has all sorts of analytics in reCAPTCHA including the user's mouse movement, solve and visit history (how many sites they've visited with google analytics, adsense, recaptcha, etc. and how long they spent), bot IP ranges, etc. that you are not going to have on a home grown captcha.

were you even here in 2010 with the save as ... shit bricks JS/Chafpin spam overruning the entire site?

moot TRIED to use the in-built captcha in Futaba and the trojan was able to solve them reliably.

the CAPTCHA on the other chan is simple and easily defeated via OCR library for a determined attacker.

You don't use bots to solve captchas. You pay a fraction of a cent to a human to solve it for you.

What's this "captcha" thing?

loopchan doesn't have THIS issue either ffs

Am I seriously missing something with the modern recaptcha? I feel like it wants me to click every box that has a little of the thing in it but then it doesnt work. Then I only click some and it works and of course the next time it flips it and wants me to click it all.

>loopchan
8ch? It still has the Sup Forums problem. /tech/ is quickly on its way to being Sup Forums 2.0.

Nope. It's just that retarded.

except reCAPTCHA is a hosted service and google can take advantage of that.

a really malicious actor would have to pay someone. for use in a trojan, this means every one of the spam posts has an associated cost, and then it has to point to a server (that can be blocked, can have an abuse report sent to the ISP, etc.) to get a sovle. this makes the virus use case way less tenable.

for the typical spammer use case, it still makes it way harder.

under reCAPTCHA v1, it was easy to farm the solves out. then google started enforcing the validity from minutes instead of hours. it made it harder to amass solves. reCAPTCHA v2 takes this even further by reducing validity to 120 seconds after the solve (and the time to do the solve itself within 90 seconds) - basically, a solve must be used in two minutes of it being completed.

the only services that reliably promise breaks on reCAPTCHA v2 admit that google changes sometimes utterly break the solves, that you may submit and get a CAPTCHA_NOT_READY error code (you want to submit but the worker has no CAPTCHA solved yet), and that at peak loads the worker may not be able to solve your CAPTCHA in time for it to be valid.

to pay someone to solve it for you greatly reduces the incentive to spam because every spam post costs money. paying $3/1000 solves may seem cheap enough for some light mischief, but if you're spamming a site nonstop (and subject to banning/post deletion) it's not something you're going to try all day every day.

all of 8ch is becoming Sup Forums 2.0, so it's not surprising.

loopchan is just contrarian kids wishing that LARPing as oldfags will bring back the good old days of Sup Forums

The boards that haven't seen a single post in over a year aren't :^)

>Google kicks off the neural network boom with DeepDream, giving their own image recognition tools to the masses
>this allows computers to beat captchas with less and less effort, so they become more and more difficult to compensate
>turns both reCAPTCHA and DeepDream are part of a conspiracy to sell more Sup Forums passes
>Google gets 95% of the money, which is why Hiro has been struggling to pay the bills
>when moot protested the deal, Google eliminated him

>dead as fuck and constantly breaking
>Sup Forums 2.0

nothing

>>when moot protested the deal, Google eliminated him
So it's not all bad, then?

Leave Sup Forums forever.
I won't be here to correct your grammar or technology related misconceptions, but I'm a little tired of you idiots and your stubborn refusal to be educated, anyways.
Your loss.

Why the fuck are you here anyway? Just leave now.

Idk

Me too. I no longer post on Sup Forums.
