Any of you guys have the Nokia 3310 (2017)? Thinking about downgrading from the Note 8.

They are making a 4G/LTE version soon. Not really sure why the fuck anyone would need that, but...

Can't crack walnuts with it, poor durability not to match to it's predecessor. It doesn't have the one feature that makes it good, and otherwise it's a bland cheapo chink phone, the likes of which a dime a dozen.

Tethering probably.

Isn't that thing just a regular Nu-Nokia S60 phone? The only difference between 2006 era Nokias and this thing is that it lacks J2ME and looks like shit in comparison. Don't fall for their tricks.

It's actually S30+, even worse.

Why not the 515?

*blocks your path*

>4G/LTE dumb phone
take muh burger bucks now

this thing needs email and messaging app support and it would be perfect

So you have an F-15 and you want to downgrade to a biplane? Why the literal fuck would you want to do that? It has wireless speeds from literally 8 years ago. And don't say "muh simplicity" b/c there's simple then there's dumb.

S60 was breddy good actually

I meant S40 actually, but yes, anything is better than S30+. I bet this 3310 is even worse hardware wise when compared to 10 year old Nokias.

Because 3G will be phased out.

fuck yes son. i wouldn't mind using this again. awesome phone.

I fucking loved this phone back then, too bad my dad broke mine when he borrowed it.

what is the name of the model?

5310

if you're coming from a note 8, I 100% guarantee you'll go back. Dumb phones are for the elderly and drug dealers.

>not remembering when dumb phones were totally sufficient and humans didn't survive on smartphone-based dopamine addictions

>30 burger bucks
fucking tempted

It's not even 3G, it's 2G and there's only one carrier still doing 2G.

>5800 XpressMusic
We have to go back.

Not even lte though.

Why is a luddite on a technology board?

drool
where do you get sauce on this

>why would someone patronize a board that discusses a topic that they are expressly concerned about?
because people don't just stop talking about things based on their use preferences for them

That one sucked, they tried to adapt their OS to touchscreens but ended up in a mess with painful gestures

how do we announce to them that we give two shits about touch screens or gestures?

Who wants to pay 5/6x the price for the same fucking thing?

I got a boner now.

I totally want one, but it's overpriced and obsolete. I want a dumbphone but it needs to support VoLTE because I'm not a neanderthal.

>Not 3G
>Says 3G right in the fucking title
U wot

So they finally released the 3G version, didn't notice.

I like the design, but can't get over the price gouging

That's the Swiss for you.

Have this one, still working, lying in a box

I need one of these with lte and wifi tethering, the perfect comfyphone

As I understand the first editions were 2g only, now it comes with 3g (revised hardware)
Build quality is pretty good, better than any other recent nokia dumbphone, software while fast just doesnt feel the same like the old s30, the old s30 was simple but very functional, especually when it came to contacts, messages, call logs etc

I actually have one of these. It does exactly what it says on the box, i.e. not much. I used a smartphone for years beforehand, but was feeling increasingly uncomfortable knowing I was so... I don't want to say "reliant," but so closely intertwined with a piece of technology.
Contrary to what you might read, you actually *can* put J2ME programs on the thing, and if you're so inclined you can write native code for it using an old mediatek SDK. I got as far as setting it up and getting a "hello world" working, then decided it was more effort than what I would get out of it.
Battery life is good (mine's gone a week without charging before). Internal speaker is garbage, use the hands-free headset that comes with it. It's cheap. Reception is okay.
If you're looking to "disconnect" a bit, this phone is a good way to do it. It's worked for me, anyway.

Have you used the mp3 player on it? Is it any good?

Meant s40

I haven't used it, nope. I've got an iPod nano that I use instead. When I go out I often don't even bring the phone with me unless I'm expecting a call.

Wonder what that means the next time I camp out in the valley. My phone would only get a couple bars of GPRS out there.
Is ATT's old 2g coverage area 2g now or did they just rollback coverage by decomming the few remaining 2g only towers?

I got the red one. Everyone keeps saying it looks pink.

Snake is worse than on the other phones too imo

It's a bit overpriced

The screen is okay and the battery life is ~30 days, unless you're somewhere with no reception, in which case it drops to about a day or less.

All in all, I wish the 2G network didn't shut down in my area so that I could keep using my old dumbphone. The 3310 is still *okay* though.

>Being such a consumerist cuck that you have to buy something shittier than your already working phone.
Use that S8 to the grave and then buy a Nokia if you feel the need holy shit you are a faggot

but the value of the phone he has will drop significantly enough that it is a better option to migrate sooner

Black is best, you dun goofed

where does nokia make their phone announcements

being breakable is the big problem with nokia's followup feature phones.

or you have to carry a laptop or other computing device anyway and a smartphone is less useful than a featurephone for that shit.

No, but I still have my og 3310

I still type faster on a phone keypad than a software keyboard

I have one as my PHONE. I use it for calls and texts. Battery lasts over 5 days with moderate use. It was given to me by a friend for Christmas and I love it. Would I have paid $50 for it? Probably not since cheaper basic Nokia phones exist.

Ever since I got the thing, my smartphone is only for using stuff that requires an internet connection.

>buying a meme phone

>downgrading
You mean upgrade, and chose the superior dumbphone instead.

I'm not sure if it's the most superior dumbphone though, I've got some shitty other nokia and haven't even looked at the chink competition.

>full color display
Dropped

its got a camera and shit now too

i would kill for a dumbphone that can be used as a wifi hotspot

>carry thinkpad/tablet
>can use it wherever you go without having two data plans

I have a Nokia 515. Very worthwile investment, although getting rid of the built-in Facebook and Twitter apps was annoying.

In an ideal world we'd have a 3G (maybe 4G) phone that does SMS, calls and OK mobile internet. I don't need any app nonsense.

that plastic piece of shit is garbage next to the 515, you dumbass

the 515 has gorilla glass and no touchscreen, what more could you want from a dumbphone?

production?

>the battery life is ~30 days, unless you're somewhere with no reception, in which case it drops to about a day or less
what

it was released in 2013, you can still buy it for around $80-100 new

probly configgable, roaming shit always costs radio time.

I had one.

please tell these retards that it's a plastic piece of shit that falls apart after a few months

there are phones from 2007 with more bands support and features
this phone really needed to offer a little more than it does to be viable

more bands isn't exactly a feature if they're dead bands, only potentially nice thing is that it's updated but then its just getting chinked to hell to do so

only you americans have this stupid bands problem

Might be used for something like VoLTE/hd voice.

>256k colors
>while the 5310 has 16M colors
lol'd at that pathetic display. I bet it's that one with like 30° viewing angles

less colors is better.

you're fucking retarded, rope yourself :^)

looks like an absolute meme

I got one of those. Input lag is so bad in snake that it's impossible to play. Otherwise, it's enough to suit my needs.

>2007
you mean 2002

jej

Eat a dick, brainlet.

it uses moar power to sperg out and reach a tower would be my uneducated guess

>I have a Samsung Galaxy Note 8
>I want to replace it with a pajeet phone so I can record VGA amateur porn videos and listen to the radio

>Sup Forums - Retarded Masochism

It keeps trying to find a tower even on standby. Doesn't help the fact that this is probably the most resource intensive task these phones can do.

lolno
You're the masochist here that chooses to suffer with a small screen and cumbersome touch controls resulting from a small screen.

it's "fewer" colors, not less
fucking idiot

no, you

less is moar faggit

Camera is a useless potato. Other than that I'm pretty happy with it. Superb battery life. I don't do social media and don't call much either. I have a prepaid sim. So for me it's good. Very happy after having android google botnet smartphone for a while. That shit is cancer let me tell you.

Yes. The gui is shitty. It plays only mp3, not opus or ogg etc. U can link it to a bluetooth speaker . I use that on my job. Nice thing is though u can play like 40hrs of music on a full battery.

>not opus or ogg etc

literally LAME

no vorbis = dropped, maybe if they release an sdk or something

Yes lol LAME and dissapointing.

I don't like the way call and end call buttons share space with other buttons. I rather go with Nokia 150.

>paying extra for a meme phone

Just buy any regular dumb phone.
This is nothing special, isn't made by Nokia, and doesn't even look like the original 3310.

Bought one on Friday, actually. Pretty good for what it is. Nice display, loud speaker, great battery. I won't use the browser regularly, but the speed isn't awful. Not going to use the mp3 player since I use a sansa clip+ with all opus files. Camera isn't that bad. Happy with everything so far. You may as well just buy one and if you don't like it then at least you have a decent backup/emergency phone.

I'm beginning to lean towards dslr or bust in terms of camera usage, so dumb phone camera quality is like a nonfactor.
Prepaid sims are sweet deals these days. The major carriers will usually have at least one prepaid sim third party so you can get the same service at a fraction of the cost. I'm pretty sure they do this to capture smart consumer markets while leaving their branded lowest tier exorbitantly priced so dumb consumers get shafted into funding their ridiculous marketing budgets and bullshit partnerships with shit companies like netflix.

can get an emergency tier phone for ~$10

still have the 5220 as backup
>symbian
>mp3 ringtone support

>not wanting a flip phone like the famous cloud™

i think japan still do flip phones and are good at it

I think even Japan stopped making high end flipflops.

Yeah, ma wife got one.

I hope the battery last long af.

>note 8
Being in 2018 still not knowing that Google is a PRISM company.

I used to gift my enemies with top tier smartphones before having them assassinated... makes everything so much easier.

I use to have one of those, damn thing survived the washing machine when my earphones couldn't. Screen is slightly dim but still works, solid phone and would get again.
