Hi Bulgars.

I have been learning Bulgarian for quite some time now, and realised that I should have learnt to read first as learning to speak/listen, I can't really tell the difference between many slavic sounds (when spoken fast) and so my accent sounded so correct to me, but not to Bulgars.

(an example is between b and p, l and v, v and b etc)

Pls though, can you explain the grammatical/pronunciation of:

в as a word alone - you don't pronounce it, but then again I hear it slightly modify the start of the next word?
й - when I read this I want to kind of say a juua sound. What is the correct sound?
ъ - I really don't get this - both the history and the modern: s-so I don't say it?

think of the Jewish expression "oy vey"

в is like the "v" in "vey"

й is like the "y" in "vey"

>в is like the "v" in "vey"
But в alone is silent?

Whites are inferior and recessive

no

you pronounce vey as v-eey, the v is basically the part before "eey" when it's alone. another example is the v in vodka without the "odka", very simple.

suca bliat pizdieti iebani

>в as a word alone
vuh, h is silent

y in yahoo

duh, with the d

>I have been learning Bulgarian for quite some time now

Why would you learn such a useless language ^ ^

im telling you this because these are examples where the anglo pronunciation is the same as the slavic pronounciation

posting in rusottoman clay general

Thanks.

I thought you pronounce a B even when alone. I just don't hear people pronounce it. I think it is because of laziness in pronunciation that made me think it could be silent here.

For example in London when we speak casually we say just th instead of the - but the e is not silent we are just lazy.

Bulgars read the same as they write, when you can successfully pronounce the alphabet actual words and sentences are extremely easy to read. I had more trouble learning how to pronounce english words because the english language is not so cut and dry in comparison.

>Bulgars read the same as they write, when you can successfully pronounce the alphabet actual words and sentences are extremely easy to read.
yes I agree. Once I read a passage once I have no idea what it says but can appear fluent and near native. I just don't get why sometimes I didn't hear в when alone and also ъ kind of makes other words not sound as expected.

cъм = cmmmm

but I guess I can hear a dmall duh in there if I look for it. It's just subtle.

Bъв is not vduhv, people just say vuv kind of

I guess I am just imitating gypsy and working class bulgarians with different accents.

Or maybe my brain isnt yet fine tuned to pick up all the bulgarian sounds

я й
I think I can tell the difference phonetically but I always overemphasise the difference o the backwards n with a tidal and say it wrong. Any suggestions?

why are you studying Bulgarian, do you have a lot of Bg colleagues or something?

Seems pretty pointless unless it will actually be useful to you in some way.

я is lika "ya" in papaya
й is not used by itself, but with other vowels

for example oй is the same as oy (or maybe oi!)

eй is the same as "ey" in Rey

and to differentiate between и and й, if you write "oи" instead of "oй", it would be pronounced weirdly like "ooh eeeh" (kinda) and not like oy/oi

We don't use ъ in macedonian bulgarian, we dropped it and it triggers bulgarians. We just assume it's there, that "uh" sound, we pronounce it the same but dont bother writing it at all.

isn't "й" just basically "y", like in "yellow"

of course we are triggered, Ъ is one of the cornerstones of Bulgarian civilization

I don't know of another language where that sound has a letter for itself, even though the same sound is present in other languages like English

й is your j

Квo миcлитe зa тaзи дъжaвa?

>macedonian bulgarian,
As a side note, there is lots of drama and hur dur muh macedonia is in Greece comments around the Balkans.

I have never ever heard a Macedonian say that their language is a dialect of Bulgarian. Interesting you say it.

What is your background? Greek, Albanian, Bulgarian, Turk, Other?

I really really do not like white people. By white people I mean by default I hate France, Spain, England and a few other similar places and then white people need to learn respect.

I like Bulgaria because - and many Bulgarians will deny this - but it is oriental. It was part of the Ottoman empire and has so many common attributes to culture of the non desert middle east and north africa. Still it is 100% a european country. Because my own clutural mix, I identify much more with Bulgaria than a lot of other countries.

Likewise in this part of Europe I am intrinsically hated by a lot of whites. In Bulgaria yes there are super racists bolah blah, but they are just ignorant people. In Western Europe these are just evil people who see me as intrinsically bad and go out of their way to oppress me.

>tl;dr
I hate white westner europeans until I know they are not like the majority and I have issues.

I will never move to Bulgaria because (a) I will say goodbye to my career and I am not being an English teacher and (b) [ignoring language problems] I can have a good career/life quality in Bulgaria and save lots, however my savings will be nothing if I want to leave to another country and (c) I need to learn to speak Arab and French first. The fact that I don't literally is a disability and affects me in my daily life.
>for example oй is the same as oy (or maybe oi!)
Now I am confused, I wasn't before :s
I thought this (but slightly more J) and just wanted to know how to make it sound different to backwards R

Forgot pic
"is your J"
which in most of Yugoslavia is Y in english because they don't have a Y,
so it is my J?

I read this...

Kvo miclite za tazi dduhzava

I think it is correct, no? (any mistakes may be due to bad transliteration)

>(an example is between b and p, l and v, v and b etc)
Хляб - in most speech you'll hear the b at the end as p, but that's only when the b is at the end of the word, it's just easier to pronounce for some reason.
You'll have to give me some examples of the other, because I don't know what you're talking about exactly.
Another pitfall is we shorten things a lot and that confuses people шecтдeceт (60) becomes шeйce, ceдeмдeceт - ceeмce and other such examples.
No idea why you'd bother learning a language with such limited use.

>What is your background? Greek, Albanian, Bulgarian, Turk, Other?

100% Бългapин, Afro-american - ceлянин, тyк живeям

Дa тaкa тpябвa

ж - j in french
Also it's дъpжaвa he forgot the P

And also M and N, like I will always say IMAN instead of IMAM - This is because I learnt through listening originally and learnt everything badly.

I guess my brain wasn't used to listening to these subtle (to a non Bulgarian speaker) differences.

>Хляб
That is the same as Arabic when I read it out.

We say different thing from Khobs to Kobej to Khaleb (similar to the arabic for dog) depending on the dialect.

>No idea why you'd bother learning a language with such limited use.
me netiher.

I have decided I must learn one or two from
Spanish, French, Arabic (three languages I really really need on a daily basis), Chinese (I used to speak it kind of well and regret giving up - I'd be fluent by now) and Turkish (I would like to live in Istanbul for a year or so- I am free there and there are few places in the world I can say that).

In reality, except for Turkish, I can speak all of those badly but good enough for a short holiday. I will never ever speak one of those good enough to work in that language ;_;

Bulgarian afro american like (fuck I forgot that celebrity's name)

Da Taka tryabva

What does that mean

>he forgot the p
kek

Tbh my english is pretty bad. My education growing up was shit because I am the child of cheap immigrant labour and as you can see from my postings here, my grammar and structure is bad. Quite a lot of working class english can't even read, you know.

TFW native english speaker but some immigrants tell me I cant be from here because their english is better (it's not, they just think it is and I have a working class language structure and bad spelling :s)

sofiaglobe.com/2014/10/14/mixed-race-family-beaten-in-sofia-after-moroccan-husband-said-i-love-you-in-english-report/

>What does that mean
it means yes, that's correct

>Bulgarian afro american like
I listen to krisko to automatically learn bulgarian

youtube.com/watch?v=zB2Kryw5CJc

What does he think cucks?

Yes I know this story.

Also in Bulgaria and Transylvania there are a lot of ethnomixed between North African and Whites because of the Ottoman empire.

People just don't realise that, and only look at the new immigrants.

Worse things happen in this part of Europe anyway. You just don't hear about it. Race Riots are common and I have seen several people murdered on the streets in my ghetto neighbourhood.

Finally, it is quite common for mixed (North African and white) children to throw acid on their parents faces and watch them melt. Do they do that in Bulgaria? Nope.

But I've never heard someone pronouncing imam (the verb "I have", not islamic priest) as iman. Not sure why you'd hear it like that.
What usually confuses people is when they don't know on which syllable to put the emphasis on, and ъл because there's a stupid rule about ъ, it's кpъв - blood, къpвaв - bloody, гpък- a greek and Гъpция - Greece
Bulgarian is relatively easy to read and write down, just compare it to french with which I have a very hard time coming form English as my second best language.

>Yana said of their planned return to Morocco, “I’ve lived there. Supposedly, that’s a third world country. I am going back to Africa, I will not stay amid this misery”.
Bitch

Morocco is first world because MOROCCAN Sahara was NATO aligned. Bulgaria is second world, it was soviet aligned.

T-this isn't chalga.

Pls share some Macedonian music. I only know Tuna.

>I like Bulgaria because - and many Bulgarians will deny this - but it is oriental.

Yeah, it's the same reason I have a slight identity crisis because I am definitely not oriental, yet many of my supposed people are. I feel like I have a genetic revulsion towards chalga and other turkish-inspired music, yet 70% of Bulgarians listen to that oriental shit.
Not just them, Serbian and Greek music is also disgusting.

Those White people that you hate, I certainly don't feel any different from them and I am racist towards Arabs in general just as you are against white people.

>white people need to learn respect

Or maybe you should learn respect when you are living in their country.

For example the "racism" against Bulgarians in the UK does not bother me in the least, as we do not have any intrinsic right to live there and Bulgaria needs its human resources anyway.

>But I've never heard someone pronouncing imam (the verb "I have", not islamic priest) as iman. Not sure why you'd hear it like that
I haven't heard anyone say it like that, but it is how my brain hears it. I have never studied Bulgarian or been for a long time hearing Bulgarian - just overhearing sentences on the streets and similar. So I mishear things. I guess my brain pics out the sounds it knows in English and remembers bulgarian words using those sounds.

Thats why learning to read has really helped me a lot.

It would be nice for me to speak Bulgarian but I never will put any serious time to learning.

>Or maybe you should learn respect when you are living in their country.
I am not living in their country. I am living in my country. I show them no respect because they way they treat me now and as a child.

so is the UK flag a proxy?

>I feel like I have a genetic revulsion towards chalga and other turkish-inspired music, yet 70% of Bulgarians listen to that oriental shit.
Pretty sure over 70% of kids listen to nigger shit too, that's not an argument.
Traditional folklore music isn't oriental. Nor was there anything of the sort for most of the XX century. It's literally in the 1990s that chalga took off.

No I am from England

traditional folklore is nice, but chalga usually has oriental tones which do not sound Bulgarian to me

England belongs to the English, to the people who founded and built the country.

If the English don't like you, it's not their problem. They are not obligated to be compatible with you. It's your parents' fault that they immigrated to a country where they would not fit in, and they stayed there.

All of you shitskin people feel entitled to other people's property and countries. This is why we perceive arabs as "a type of gypsies".

You have to go back.

My mother is English.

Still, yes I do not speak to my dad for that reason. I don't like him and think he is selfish.

>You have to go back.

I have been saving for several years so that I can go to an Arab country and learn Arab.

>shitskin
I am whiter than most Europeans and so are a significant percentage of north africans.

finally, do you really think Bulgarians are all native or 100% bulkan? Almost everyone has some Turkish, gypsy/indian, Arabic, Jewish and other roots.

Cause they aren't traditionally Bulgarian.
Then again neither is the american music that's shoved down our throats, and our pathetic artists that try and emulate it.

This, we are poor(ish) westerners, I don't see where the oriental meme comes from. Maybe when russia took over the orthodox church identity and made their asiatic empire by fucking all those asian countries it got known as the oriental religion and by way of proxy we are associated with it.

I remember when a chinese shop opened in my area when I was a kid, we made "ching chong" noises at the chinks for fun and hated albanians the same. We have almost nothing in common with them

>Also in Bulgaria and Transylvania there are a lot of ethnomixed between North African and Whites because of the Ottoman empire.
nah that's wrong it was mostly turklets who settled here and they got genocided in the balkan wars

>Finally, it is quite common for mixed (North African and white) children to throw acid on their parents faces and watch them melt. Do they do that in Bulgaria? Nope.
yes but it's adults, not kids

К'вo cтaвa, мишки? Haй-нaкpaя пpиeхтe пpeдлoжeниeтo ми дa излeзeм oт oнaзи цигaнcкaтa "бaлк" тeмa.

Бpaвo.

Why not balk?

>finally, do you really think Bulgarians are all native or 100% bulkan? Almost everyone has some Turkish, gypsy/indian, Arabic, Jewish and other roots.
are you autistic? bulgarians are moslty native balkanic, slavic and some r1b from the westcucks

we have almost nothing to do with turklets other than some loanwords and some food they stole from persia and byzantium

Well in that case I apologize and take back everything I said.

Because it is not your fault that you are born from a mixed marriage. This is why I am against it, it's so irresponsible to the children who will always have an identity crisis of some sort.

And if your mother is English and you were still bullied without behaving like a stereotypical durka then I actually don't approve that, even being the nazi that I am.

>This, we are poor(ish) westerners,
No not really, the balkan is a distinct region cultually. There's a lot of difference between us and a typical werstern european.

Can you list them?

Aбe кoј ги eбe cтpaнцитe и Aнглиcкиoт јaзик, вeќe кe oдгoвapaм ништo нa cтpaнци и cитe нe-бoлгapи.

THere arent really any "pure" north aficans, there are tonnes of people with one grandparent from North africa

>children
this doesn't mean young people in this context -
the children of bulgarians can mean grown up people too - they are their children.

It is usually 20somethings who do this.

Do they really do this in Bulgaria? Really? I mean people throw acid everywhere, but for this very reason? I didn't know that.

>are you autistic
>Here are some genetic references I can quote to prove we are bulkan
kek/10

Still, you can tell a turk from the back of their head :3
I am against it. I do not like whites because they way they treated me. For example we were not allowed to study with the whites as children, and were segregated at school and psychologically and physically abused (hence my issues today).
OK I am going out now for lunch. See you all xoxoxox

We have a very different mentality from your average German or Englishman.
We share memes across the balkans but everyone think's it's their own
