Well you just grow up (and grow beyond linux). Just try not-gaming.
Or get a real console.
Or play on linux, nethack is nice.

playonlinux
wine
flash
HTML5
native games
steamOS games

or, ascend beyond the need to satisfy your mind with virtual games

Why would you need to?

Play the games on Linux or keep them on a separate machine just for games - Windows or on a console.

In many instances it's better to have a non-gaming Linux machine anyhow. If you don't need that fat GPU all the time, you'll have better power efficiency and more room for HDDs or whatever.

Your balls have to drop first

Why would you want to do that?

You chose the worst time to give up on gaming. Japan's game industry made a huge comeback last year and gassed the kikes running the Western market. They're projected to continue the shoah for another 5 years or so.

Quality Thread

You will grow up and learn that almost all porn games work in wine or have native versions. No more reason to play kiddie games anymore.

I bought an all-in-one System76 machine without a videocard and slowly weened myself off onto electronics and sec instead.

PCI passthrough is the patrician choice

>muh radiated gaymes

You can do a duel boot. Also many newer games run on Linux now due to every body using multi platforms windowing libs and opengl.

I'd just like to interject for a moment. What you're referring to as Linux, is in fact, GNU/Linux, or as I've recently taken to calling it, GNU plus Linux. Linux is not an operating system unto itself, but rather another free component of a fully functioning GNU system made useful by the GNU corelibs, shell utilities and vital system components comprising a full OS as defined by POSIX.

Many computer users run a modified version of the GNU system every day, without realizing it. Through a peculiar turn of events, the version of GNU which is widely used today is often called "Linux", and many of its users are not aware that it is basically the GNU system, developed by the GNU Project.

There really is a Linux, and these people are using it, but it is just a part of the system they use. Linux is the kernel: the program in the system that allocates the machine's resources to the other programs that you run. The kernel is an essential part of an operating system, but useless by itself; it can only function in the context of a complete operating system. Linux is normally used in combination with the GNU operating system: the whole system is basically GNU with Linux added, or GNU/Linux. All the so-called "Linux" distributions are really distributions of GNU/Linux.

But it's the kernel that's executing the games.
Yeah just use windows, that's the way.

enjoy seeing cultural marxism and forced LGBT characters in games that don't need it.

>giving up on something you enjoy just so you can be part of the masturbatory linux circlejerk
Run Linux in a VM or an old laptop for tinkering, keep Windows on primary desktop

Grow up, aka. get old.

;_;

Buy a PS4 and a Switch.

It sort of just happens, OP. And it doesn't "just happen" for everyone.
I recall getting into other hobbies in high school. Up until that point, I was big into gaming, but hobbies come and go, and I found cheaper activities, namely computer programming and other tech endeavors, that introduced me to friends and occupied more of my time. Didn't have time to play games anymore. At least not like I used to.
Important to remember, though: If you really enjoy gaming, that's nothing to be ashamed of. And you can always find new and interesting titles for GNU/Linux. This isn't a decade ago, after all, when gaming on GNU/Linux meant Tux Racer and a few Nintendo emulators.
You can always experiment with alternative operating systems in virtual machines. Or just partition your drive for the dual boot, as many have suggested ITT.

If you don't enjoy things like gaming, it could just be that you play too much of it or just need to stop visiting Sup Forums and be more social.
I should do the Sup Forums part as well, I'll start this Friday.

if you do, you'll betray Sup Forums
we'll hunt you down with our gentoo axes!

Do you play on alt.org by any chance?

Just buy console
Lol

Find some other hobbies you can waste your life on.

Install Linux, become unemployable, can't afford games. Easy.

Meh, the real art and fun of unix is in working with limited resources and maximizing performance. Just have a higher end gayming desktop as a dedicated windows machine and install gahnuu linux in a secondhand laptop. Really dont understand how the posters on a "technology" board dont have like 2-3 computers sitting around. I have a windows desktop, linux laptop, and an old laptop running freebsd right now.

grow up.
gaymen is just a chore for me now.

Just dualboot you absolute fucking retart

just buy yourself a console

Start working on hating fun. Get a shitty job that you hate that takes up most of your time and then marry the worst possible woman in the world and have shitty kids. Just do all the things that should be fulfilling but fuck them all up along the way.

There are plenty of Linux-native games out there.
And then a bunch work on WINE.

And for everything else, a Windows home game streaming server would do the trick.

^
^^

wtf why isn't it working?

nah nintendo have shown that gook games are perfectly capable of doing that without the intervention of the west, while also being shit to boot

You don't have to, but get a ps4 or something. I spent a long time and a lot of fucking money on the "PC MASTURRRR RAYCE" meme and I just feel like it was all for nothing, because there wasn't a single decent game that warranted the high-end hardware I was using. In fact, the only decent titles on PC were older titles that were ported from consoles anyways.

develop crippling depression so that you don't feel like playing games anymore

>How do I give up gaming for good so I can stay on linux?

OS exist to run applications so giving one up is retarded. Set both up in KVM virtual machines and you can use both at once.

Only option is to willpower. Especially if your main dev focus is windows based shit like c#

you don't need to. You can use windows as like a dedicated console or just play linux games if the available ones are up your alley

Video games aren't something to "grow out" of. People of all ages are playing video games now.

>giving up a meme for another

Become a patrician and get into Interactive Fiction instead of getting your brain cooked by 3D AAA dopamine loop abusers. Then Linux is fine 99% of the time.

ifwiki.org/index.php/Main_Page

While the community is currently full of hipsters and trash, there are a lot of gems and I think Sup Forums is missing out, the potential here is endless.

Get rid of all your dumb gaymer shit. Just sell it all or give it away.

Well, I run loonix on my thinkpad that I use for all of my everyday computer activities (surfing the web, shitposting, torrenting, watching movies / tv shows / anime, etc.). Then I have my desktop computer that I only ever use for gaming, Ninjatrader, Quickbooks, and Turbotax.

>forced lgbt characters
>nintendo
Which games? This is news to me

Why are Linux users incapable of using the best tool for the job? Do you game? Get a console or use a windows partition. ANYTHING ELSE? LITERALLY ANYTHING? Use the OS of your choice. In this case the Linux distro of your choosing.

Fuck you people are annoying. Hurr I gotsa to gib up muh gaymes now cuz REAL ADULTS use Loonux for ADULT stuff

Don't give up on games, start making ones.
You won't have time nor want to waste brain power bitching about fucking tools.

Nice copypasta

Linux is shit, the whole point of an OS is to run shit and if Linux can't do that then why the fuck would you use it
>inb4 Muh security
>inb4 Windows botnet

Linux runs arbitrary types of software, including games. Many commercial games store.steampowered.com/linux plus hundreds more open sauce games managed to support Linux no problem.

It even has some compatibility layers for software -including games- that WASN'T written for it; but that's not actually Linux' job.

BSD
>PS4 based on this
>PSVita based on this
>Switch based on this
Linux
fucking nothing

Steam says I've played dota 2 for over 4000 hours.

I wonder what else I could've done with the time sometimes

You don't need to, Linux already has a lot of good games, and the number's growing faster lately.
Meanwhile WINE gets better at running older Windows games, and playonlinux and lutris make it painless to run games with WINE.

SteamOS is Linux.

play rs on linux you'll thank me later

Play System Shock 1 for 2 hours. You'll never want to play videogames again.

I pity you if you did all that in just one OS.

I've 6000 but on every OS available, DX, OpenGL and Vulkan.

Start by playing in different operating systems.

Play chess. You can play it on Linux.

lichess.org

For what purpose

She's past her prime and is only waiting for time to pass. You're not.

grow up

...

But then I'll just play the games in Linux

Linkle?

Yes

realize that modern games are all shit and the ones that aren't can be played through wine

It's not about giving up gaming.
It's about how to live that better life that you have in mind.

Get depressed.

There are more games available on Linux than you will ever have time to play.

Nick?

Get a console.

Man this hobby is the worst.

First I was to poor to afford food let alone a pc as a student.

Now I'm employed, making great money, built a brand new pc, and I barely use it because of real life.

Become a programmer, get employed as a developer, and you'll so playing. This is the only thing that works.

I just have a PS4. Not the best graphics, but I can still get games for cheap if I'm willing to wait, and I don't have to tweak shit.

Of course, I don't pay for PS+. I just don't play online.

>implying developing games is fun either

I fucking hate video games now

Stop playing AAA trash and just play some indie available on your machine.
Practically nearly all games I play run on Linux natively. Puzzle/programming/2D games with simple graphics are usually made in unity or game maker or similar cross platform technology, so it's really not an issue. Virtual machine works fine for VNs.

> How do i give up gaming.
Dont do it. Just do it right, on lunux.

But I am? Got job far in my job, don't want kids or family.
I might as well kill myself now, there's nothing special in life, but I might as well spend money on good food, hardware and video entertainment and enjoy it alone or with company.

GPU Passthrough senpai

Linux is a kernel.

Get into /vr/

You won't have time to play games.

All you will be doing is messing around with GNU/Linux and trying to get and keep shit working.

Grow up
Be responsible of someone that is not your pathetic self

Start coding and casting spells in real life

BSD
>products that abuse of the cuck license
No shit Sherlock

You don't gaming is for all ages, just do what you enjoy in the comfort of your own home.

Don't buy a console it's just a waste of extra space and money.
>Paying for online
>Paying full price for games vs getting them on sale

What if I'm a game developer in my prime and my career is centered around video games?

It's simple, OP

>One computer for games
>One computer for Linux
Alternatively, dual boot.

That way you can use Linux as your daily driver and use Windows as a game console. Now you can be a Sup Forumsentooman and part of the PCMASTERRACE

Who said you needed to give up gaming to use Linux?

davidyat.es/2016/09/08/gpu-passthrough/

That is one luscious controller.

But isn't Varg largely making money on a role-playing game he made

Get into GPU mining

Do what normal people do, use Linux and game on a PS4

Sell your GPU.

Those mountains look like shit my dude.

Isn't he also an autistic man baby who basically got away with murder and is only able to live free today because his gubmint gibs and softness on criminals.

get laid
forget about video games for ever
