It's archived now. What's your point?

Not him, but his point is that we don't need that thread again already. Not every thread needs an autistic regime. One thread is plenty to discuss any aspect of trackballs and a new one isn't needed for many, many days.

What is the black mouseball mouse on the right?
The brand/model

any trackballs recommended for beginners to trackballs?

Trackman Marble, Kensignton Orbit - trackballs w/o scrollwheel

Kensigton Orbit Scroll Ring - with scroll wheel

Keep in mid that this is a whole different way of controlling pointer and to adjust to the device you need about a week. Lern to use as many fingers as possible to control the ball.

why would anyone want one without scroll wheel

Because it takes almost the same amount of movement, time and energy to just glide to the scroll bar that it takes to put your finger on a wheel and scroll?

one with three buttons. kensington orbit only has two which was pretty disappointing because its great and cheap

>what is 3rd mouse button emulation you can turn on on any nonplebeian OS.

yeh nah

dayumm

using a logitech trackman as we speak

i've used trackball mice for the past 17 or 18 years now, will never switch to a regular mouse

Nice. What were your models? Any advices in selecting models?

Teach us about your preffered settings - acceleration, sensitivity. How you navigate with it.

Are/were you playing games using it? What are/were your preffered settings if you are/were.

i've only ever used two models, both of them in pic related
honestly, in terms of selecting a model, it's really hard to say
my father bought me my first trackball mouse, i used it growing up, kinda just became second nature after so many years

i never had to "make the leap" so to speak, not even sure i'd buy one today had i never used them growing up. so i guess all i can really say is that if it feels comfortable, then use it

as for navigation, super simple. i have a 32" 1440p display so naturally i have a lot of screen to navigate through with a small ass cursor. i usually just flick the ball in any given direction super hard and stop it immediately whenever it's where i want it to be. as for acceleration/sensitivity, i didnt have those options growing up, or at least i dont think i did, so i never took advantage of them. still don't.

games? yeah, once you get used to the mouse, it's simple, probably a little bit better, to be quite honest. i play with very high sensitivity, so even in FPS games, a hard flick in any given direction will do the trick for me. as i said, pretty much everything has become second nature for me due to how long i have been using these types of mice. i actually prefer aiming with them also in FPS games just because i have such a strong control of the increments in which i move my trackball, allowing me to be as precise as i need to be, while doing so very quickly.

Any CST users around?

I'm enjoying my Trackman Marble more and more with every day.

Wish they came with more buttons.you probably think the idea is gay, but this crossed with
this would be ideal

Mor means how many? Many have 4 as standart
Elecom trackballs have like 3-4 additional buttons more.

DESU I have seen stranger setups.
