Unless one wants to live in Italy (ok), Portugal (eh... ok), or Brazil (wtf), why would they learn any romance language other than French or Spanish? Hell, even French seems like a bit of an eccentric choice.

I love this meme. It's like saying speaking French is basically speaking Latin.

REEEEEE AMERICA HELP HE IS STEALING MY LANGUAGE AND CLAIMS IT IS HIS TOO
You have no idea what it feels like to have your language reduced to meme-tier by half the world speaking it poorly.
But that was your own fault. We set up a colonial system where natives were not taught it on purpose to avoid this. And I'd like if it stays that way
calmate bello, anch'io sono italiano :D
Italy had an Empire?
Sorry, not meaning to be rude.
Yeah. A smaller one that lasted less than 100 years. I got hooked on the history when that colonies guy kept shitposting about his Eritrea. The schooling system was set up so natives has their own schools with their own languages. It was actually interesting, they thought it was the best system to avoid cultural shock.
>implicando
That's my point exactly, ya tard. Enjoy being poor.
Pretty cool, I guess this is the reason why nobody talks about Italian Empire. It took more of a backseat role with conquered peoples.
