Most modern music is played using European instruments, using European musical notation, and European language.
The blues movement may have been one of the latest developments that influenced a large spectrum of musical styles, but it's typical American ignorant arrogance to say that the music "originated" there.

If your country has a hip hop, jazz, techno, country, R&B, house, punk, or rock music scene, if your country makes use of the electric guitar in virtually any fashion, then it has been influenced by the United States. If I checked the top grossing singles in your countries right now I guarantee around half would be from American artists

The best right now? I'd say the UK is the winner in recent History. Otherwise I don't know enough about non-European music from the previous centuries to actually discuss it, but Germany and Italy definitely were great nations of musicians, and most likely the best in Europe.
As for the US, they played a major role indeed but most of what they came up with was made infinitely better once it reached crossed the ocean. I don't care if "you" invented rock and the electric guitar: Italy doesn't get to claim Mozart's and Wagner's works just because it invented the opera.
