YOUTUBE CAUGHT MINING

Websites do rely on advertising for income though, you retarded leech. You're actively killing the sites you love by using ad blockers.

...

>love
I wouldn't go that far

>You're actively killing the sites
You are welcome, Sup Forums

>You're actively killing the sites
fuck yeah

This, stealing internet content by blocking ads should be illegal just like piracy.

time.com/4060575/alphabet-google-dont-be-evil/

But thats the opposite. Blocking ads is using less traffic and less content on any given web page. Webmasters, publishers, authors, website admins, server operators should be happy that we are doing their job for them.

Blocking ads is the equivalent of switching the TV channel when the commercials start. Fuck 'em.

I refuse to support any website that uses invasive tracking ads.

but you're on Sup Forums that uses crap that is hosted on google's site.. So why are you posting here?

shitcoin mining is actually more acceptable than ads as long they tell you they're doing it and don't max out your hardware. 10% usage on my GPU for no ads and fewer scripts to block is fine by me.

>t.

meme magic has gone too far

Honestly. What even is there on the net worth looking at anymore?

Because the captcha is unavoidable but ads aren't.

>shitcoin mining is actually more acceptable than ads
the problem is they actually do both, they display ads on the page and the ads themselves mine for bitcoin.

You put all of that shit on top of non optimized javascript code and end up using 1 GB of RAM and 30% of your CPU to display a text page with a few images.

>the absolute state of the internet.

I hate ads because they take up screen space and video ads waste my time, but I'd be comfortable letting sites use some of my PC's computing power as a way of "paying" for the content. Too bad it's a pipe dream because they can only run crypto miners right now which no serious company is going to use, I guess I'll have to wait until someone figures out how to sell the users' computing power to train new botnets.

t. poorfag

It's true.

There are plenty of other revenue streams that makethings more convenient for both the content creator and the viewer. Most shift away from the video host seller/advertiser customer model, instead to content creator seller/viewer customer.

Ejecting third parties from the transaction is the only option.

tits. tits never get old. well, they do. but even old tits are nice to look at.

Is CPU mining practical compared to GPU mining? Is there a reason websites would want to employe that method?

Ads in their current form are botnet.
An advertisement should literally be just a png image that the website owner puts up and links to the website of whatever company paid him to put it there.
Nothing more.

blocking ads == commandeering, looting ships

Can't wait for the day websites will start requiring proof of work for their mining ads.

This. Video ads are cancer, too.

it's gonna end up something like
>jewglecoin
>pay 1 jewgle to watch video
or
>mine 1 jewgle

amazing how they became the very evil they strive not to be. i remember when google use to tell user's to never give their real names and other personal information freely on the internet.... and then they came out with google+ and got rid of all that protective advice.

archive.is/AXGFM

or can be too
fill this jewgle botnet poll and get a free jewgle coin

i don't block ads. i block malware. like bitcoin miners.

But how else will you get your daily dose of anti trump 'news' or 'we hate russia so you should too' information.

>click on the images until no more storefronts remain to earn 1 JEWGLE

I wish there were a good alternative to Gmail and Android where I didn't need a fucking gmail. I'd be happy with a dumbphone.

>he doesn't block coinhive via ublock origin

> blocking ads
Blocking malware*
> piracy
Sharing with your neighbor*

Stop the brainwashing.

I agree.

I know some (illegal) content providers that let you sit through a mining script rather than shows ads.
It's actually pretty comfy compared to the popup hell they would normally show.

But if this becomes the norm for regular sites I'm worried they will get greedy and put more and more stress on your hardware.

yeah people on tech dumb as fuck, like they could give enhanced features in exchange of viewing ads like in example youtube:

WATCH 5 MINUTES OF ADS OF YOUR ELECTION PER DAY TO GET FAST HD ADLESS YOUTUBE

that way they get the personalized ad targeting thing they love so much and make a more friendly internet

Pretty comfy? You would willingly let them install shady software that uses your computers resources for a profit you'll never see? Hell, why do you trust them enough that you assume they won't take advantage of that and just install ransomware while they're at it?

I hate to sound like a communist, but if you need invasive malware riddled ads and garbage to keep your system afloat, perhaps it's time you rethink your spending.

just to be clear, what settings do I use to actually block coin mining

seei personally typed in coinhive.com and coinhive.org into my filters. Also, umatrix.

>letting youshit load ads at all
>not fucking them over with ublock origin
You're supposed to be smarter than this, Sup Forums.

>This is a message from your ISP.
>You have spend your 3rd party high speed allowance.
>Our services continue to operate at maximum speeds, but any 3rd party sites are now slowed down to free up traffic capacity.
>For just 10 jewglecoin per GB you can have all sites load at maximum speed.
>Click [here] to learn how to earn jewglecoins.

I have YouTube Red. :)

>An advertisement should literally be just a png image that the website owner puts up and links to the website of whatever company paid him to put it there.
Nothing more.

Fucking this. If that were the case with ads, we wouldn't need Adblock.

Putting the ethics of the business model aside, JS miners aren't a complete failure of a business model like ads are.

Assuming you can circumvent blocking, you have 100% trust that your users will never be on the receiving end of third party malware (first party malware is better than third party malware).

You get guaranteed stable income per user, as opposed to unstable income based on clicks. You don't rely on analytics at all. Fuck third parties.
From a business perspective, there are no disadvantages to JS mining.

>let them install shady software

It's just in-browser javascript, relax.

It's far less shady than the ads they would normally serve, which are also loaded with javascript, open new windows with even more ads, try to make you download .exe's, etc.

>for a profit you'll never see?

I've saved thousands of dollars downloading from them.

>you have 100% trust that your users will never be on the receiving end of third party malware (first party malware is better than third party malware).
Because systems being compromised never happens, right? Like how CCleaner didn't totally deliver a suspicious rootkit, or how intel didn't completely subvert your computer's security by outright removing all security checks, thus making a root attack possible by even the dimmest bulb in the broom closet?

Yes, let me put my trust, and my computer, in the faith of this greedy corporation who likely hired pajeets for pennies in their security and quality assurance departments.

More the reason I keep my adblocker up no matter what.

I wonder who's behind these posts.

Ads don't bother me, ad networks that serve and ad and send your connection off to 10 unrelated datamining and analytics grabbing fuckwits bother me. That is why I run an ad blocker.

>It's far less shady than the ads they would normally serve,
"Normally serve"? you imply they'd stop shoving them in your face.

I think you don't understand how this technology works.
It's Javascript. If you were so worried about script kiddies using Javascript exploits to break through a browser's per-tab sandbox isolation, you would turn ALL Javascript off. Why suddenly start bitching about Javascript miners? It's running a glorified infinite for loop on your system.

Like I said they don't show any other ads.
Just the miner.

And other sites with similar content all have popup hell to get through (and obviously they use adblock detectors)

Eventually websites will all resort to refusing you access until you whitelist them.

I called this one over a year ago and Sup Forums said it would never happen. It's already happening with some of the bottom feeding porn sites and such. In a decade or so many sites will wall themselves off using this method.

Again you're putting trust in jewgle and jewtube and any other website that conveniently rhymes. All it takes is them being given the ok to use your computer for just this small purpose, and soon they'll be taking more and more. 10 years ago this would've been seen as absurd to let someone use your computer for a shady pseudo-currency scam.

>It's Javascript. If you were so worried about script kiddies using Javascript exploits to break through a browser's per-tab sandbox isolation, you would turn ALL Javascript off.
why do you think I have umatrix and ublock origin installed? I block pretty much any java script that isn't required to look at the page.

their failed business model is not by problem
in fact, I wish all for-profit websites died

Ads are blocked in my hosts file. They no longer load. Lrn 2 internet.

>using youtube from the bowser

Desktop: mpv+youtube-dl
Mobile: NewPipe

The primary use case of ublock and umatrix is to block third party scripts (third party meaning any origin that is not from the same subdomain), which is the default.
First party scripts, which is what a crypto miner would ideally be, would not be automatically blocked by default.

Please don't self-insert yourself as the general use-case for millions of people.

I hope they all fucking die then
web2.0 was a mistake

Thank you. Added to hosts file.

This.

Well, youtube's mining is definitely third party since I've successfully blocked it.

you have no idea how javascript or computers in general work and should refrain from discussing anything about them. no one is going to stick a miner that uses 90% of your cycles on their website and lose ALL of their traffic because it's literally unusable when they could use 5% for 300 million people every day.

Trips have spoken.

That's incredibly sad.
I expected better from Google.

good. They might find another way to make money other then trying to plug me bullshit I don't want or intrusive advertising. I'd rather not have content then be a good goy

>no one is going to stick a miner that uses 90% of your cycles on their website and lose ALL of their traffic
You act like you'll have a choice when they install a ransomware that uses your computer without you being able to stop it.

>when they install a ransomware
again, you have no idea how computers work and should refrain from commenting on anything related to them.

Yes goyim feel guilty.

>All it takes is them being given the ok to use your computer for just this small purpose, and soon they'll be taking more and more.

OH GEE, If only I also posted:
>But if this becomes the norm for regular sites I'm worried they will get greedy and put more and more stress on your hardware.

So thanks for wasting both our time by not reading my entire post before making assumptions about me.
You are a bigger drain on resources than a coin mining script.

Yes, we would never use your computer for such purposes. You can trust us to use 5% of your CPU and GPU to mine currency. I mean, it's only 10 %. You'll barely even notice 20% of your computer being used. What's 50% usage between friends after all?

I would blow a load in that bitch then drop her off in the ghetto to be gang raped by some niggers like the cunt she is

Holy fuck. Windows Defender told me I have a bitcoin miner the other day, which surprised me as I visit no shady websites and have ublock origin enabled by default except for sites I "trust".

So now I know that adblockers are never to be disabled, ever. Not even on sites like youtube which you would assume would be safe.

>ywn have a girl that will drink Vita Malz with you

Using a strawman argument is bad.

But insisting on your strawman when it's been explicitly mention is just retarded.

You also clearly have no idea how computers work.
Why are you even on Sup Forums?
Please go back to Sup Forums

class action when? i want my fucking bitcoins google.

Sounds like someone compiles their posts in soy++.

So much for a free and open internet, huh.

I'll stop using adblockers the day Youtube stops censoring pro-2nd Amendment speech.

It could actually be an improvement, as clickbait sites might finally stop being profitable.

Then we could return to 1990's style internet, when people posted stuff because they wanted to tell the world something not because they wanted to make money.

It's in the resource abuse list

Those were indeed good times, if slow.

Is that a recent thing? That's pretty cool they thought of that. guess it must've been around the same time as Hiro's Malware follies.

>Then we could return to 1990's style internet
Yeah but will it have AOL chat rooms?

No, just ICQ

That, and newgrounds flashes that take 20 minutes to load. It'll be fun watching Mario freak out from drug overdoses because he took the wrong mushroom.s hahaha.

I feel old.

captcha bitch

Even better.

>going back and watching flash movies from the early 2000s that make fun of long load times because dial-up

Mark my words on this one. The only thing that could stop it is pure lack of traffic or hard to block ads like they use on Gelbooru.

>Gelbooru
What does that site do differently that renders it unusable? From what I've read, non-uBlock0 users who have different adblockers (Like ABP) say all the ads get through and none are blocked. I use uMatrix and it's the only site I cannot get to work despite trying dozens of combinations with allowing scripts, media, frames, and XHR.

>What does that site do differently that renders it unusable?

First, they seem to randomize the ad urls and second, tie the ads to the domain's images if you try to block the areas they appear in. I've yet to get my head around it and I assume no one else on our side has since it's yet to be blockable.

I don't see it happening on a bigger scale. Why have a website that no one visits? They need visitors.

Just put in:
@@||simg3.gelbooru.com/$image
as a rule. Make sure you have all your malvertising filters put up, and you also need to block some elements but now you can see thumbnails and the actual images.

Right. The bigger scale sites are still mostly used by brainlets who let all the ads in and accept it as commonplace. The world is mostly dumbshits so it's yet to become a major issue in terms of ad revenue.

With browsers like Brave that block ads by default becoming more common, people will eventually start using them more and more. That might be when it becomes a large scale issue for advertisers. That's when aggressive anti-adblock will become common enough to be a real problem.

>malvertising
Not the user you were typing at, but I wonder why they didn't call it "badvertising"?

>arstechnica
How reliable is this site? In the past it seemed excessively breathless and clickbaity.
