So what makes this distro require such low minimum specs?

difference is what runs when booting the system, also the "46M" is closer to a bare minimum, while ubuntu's "2GB" is a recommendation for running common things, not how much it uses after booting
you can get most distros about as small with the right set of software
Ubuntu barely runs with 1GB though.
I've had tiny core running smoothly for word processing and web browsing on my old laptop with 128MB RAM.

disk space won't be very comparable, unless you use something like gentoo (seriously), where you can do things like compile with size optimization and change USE flags to remove features you don't want
but if disk space isn't a problem, then you can pretty much match what tinycore does with any distro
also consider using a zram swap with very low memory systems
you applications choices will likely be the deciding factor in what can be run on the system
here's that arch system with palemoon, gimp, libreoffice, and mpv running more than comfortably on a 768M VM

Everything can be made better if you are a really really god damn excellent at coding. Look at SliTaz for example... A distro is more than its looks and "Muh rice potential", and until you realize that there is 99% of what you havent even touched upon under the hood (lol, compiled your own kernel, nice 1, i bet it was really hard to menuconfig), you start realizing that some kernel devs take the linux kernel and rewrite it better than Linus.
it should be under 10mb when you kill xorg and if it isnt then you have useless kernel modules loaded and systemd running
because Distribution developers of Alpine, Slackware, SliTaz, AntiX and rest of the "magic" distros are not brainlets who think that compiling your own kernel via graphical config is the end-all-be-all of Linux development. Because those people take the kernel and actually optimize it, as in, optimize it by coding it, not like autistic Sup Forumsents who optimize it for their own machine and then consider themselves 1337
All I really want is a web browser, office suite, And a good multimedia player for video and music like VLC.
You can have all of that on Puppy linux which can run from RAM and is ~100 mb in size the last time i checked... but you won't do that now, would you?
