Bump Pls, if anyone knows

Should we add recent smartphone news into the OP to keep it fresh in interesting?

Current works with the Galaxy S8, Galaxy S8+
I don't see anything about support the A8, sorry.

I'm trying to bail data off my LG Nexus 5X. It fell into the bootloop and occasionally shows the go to this site corrupted OS screen. Has anyone here tried the freezer method and had it work long enough for back ups to be completed or did they move to another method?

Have you tried Nexus Rootkit?

In the past it always had recent news in it. I dunno why it stopped having it.

No, right now it's not even responding to the power button.

Not powering on? Because I had the same problem. Let it charge for a while, over night you might get a response in your phones notification light. If it's steady red than your battery has been discharged, if it's blinking it can be saved.

If I happen to be hear at the thread bump limit, I'll try to add some recent news.

Ah, so I should just wait then. I've been periodically sticking it in the freezer. It functions for a bit when it comes out, but then it crashes at the unlock.

>but then it crashes at the unlock
Yep this is what happened me, in my research I found no solution. Everyone is experiencing problems with the Nexus 5X after Oreo, many reporting bricking, crashing, constant rebooting. All google could provide for me was a damn $100 dollar in-store credit.

oh my god what's wrong with her feet?

She's kicking with her perfect little feet

anime incest general

You tried to back it up via ADB?

And there's nothing wrong with that
Wouldn't that require for it to be delectable for by your computer, because it doesn't power on and crashes at boot

this is a very interesting project but I doubt it will ever go any further

It was working fine for me before 8.1, then the notification text became ant sized and it started the bootloop
I only backed up the basics to google. I want to get some pics off it though.

>doubt it will ever go any further
What do you mean?
Had problems with the 5X since 8.0, but it was 8.1 that killed it.

So, how're flip phones looking nowadays? Do they even exist on the market anymore? I was thinking of picking one up for kicks.

They do keep relevant in certain markets like Korea and Japan.

Not anymore, there's a large decline in flip phones demand.

>ctrl+F removable b
>0 found

It's dead, isn't ?

Although I love the aesthetics of a flip phones, but too attached to a smartphone to go back.
Sadly, removable batteries has been an idea long given up. If you're interested the Librem 5 will come with a removable battery.

my priv broke :( stupid piece of trash phone, my provider is giving me a keyone as a replacement. which is even more retarded. i will sell it for around 350€, which is over half of what the whole contract costs. when the s9 is released, will the s8 be a lot cheaper or just a little? looking for a contract again. i'm in germany.

The price drop won't be immediate and will probably be small. What don't you like about the Keyone, everyone seems to like it.

Feet and toes

Did you already have texts backed up before your 5X went belly up?

it may be a good phone, but the keyboard on the priv is atrociously bad, the worst thing i ever laid my hands on. ever since i got it i regretted not trying it first. i literally never used the keyboard. and the keyone actually has a much better keyboard, but the damn thing is 50% of the screen!!!! and most of what i do on a phone is watch youtube.

probably will just get the s9 for those nice stereo speakers then. thank you

Delicious feet and toes
I don't have anything important on my phone so when it died I didn't lose much of anything.

I have texts stuck on it. I forgot to back those up when it was last working.

The keyone is pretty compfy desu

Did Sony win with the Xperia XA2?

Personally I don't like the look of the L2 and XA2. L was never a fan of, too wide. The XA is nice to look at, but when it's in my hand it feels odd, it's smaller in width is made up by having a bit more height, but with an edge to edge display it makes it awful for me to grip and use with one hand. And what annoys me about these versions is the finger print scanner being on the back ruining the phones clean design and a slight curviture.

Been using the K10000 Pro for a few months, really impressed with it, battery life is insane. Bit thick but fucks sake what did I expect.

Just a shame they couldn't use higher end specs for such a sized good battery, but it never struggles.

Takes 2 sims, but you have to lose one if you want to use a memory card. And it only supports max 64GB (32GB card).

But still a really nice phone, would recommended to anyone that craves a good amount of juice in their phone, using it's vast 10,000Mah battery as a power bank for changing my Bluetooth headphones is a nice bonus as well.

My Xperia Z3 has quite the cool quirk, it apparently makes me evade my operator's (3uk) limit on tethering. By contract I get unlimited data with 12gb tethering, but since I don't have Internet at home I easily go over the 12gb limit. Anyone knows why is that and if it's replicable on other phones? I don't have root, I just popped the sim and that's all

Hey /spg/, I need to choose between Xperia XZ1 and Nokia 8, what's best ?

Are the Xiaomi Redmi Note 4 and 4X basically the same? Cause if I get it, I want to be able to flash in LineageOS and all it said was the Note 4 and not 4X, but does it still apply to 4X?

Sup Forums likes incest, eh? Nice taste.

Any models to look out for?

As long as you buy the Snapdragon version of either phone you can flash LineageOS, the hardware is almost identical, the only practical difference is the LTE bands

...

Hey Sup Forums, when I'm looping porn webms on my android phone, even though the media volume is muted, sometimes there's a "crackle" of sound when the video loops. Any idea how to stop it?

There's not a huge difference between the two. I only used Sony out of the two phones so I could only recommend that.
Top Sis
Through speakers or headphones?

Through the speakers, don't have headphones on hand.
I'm trying it again and it might be just MX Player for some reason

Usually when you have a crackling sound it caused by a connection or video codecs. Try a set of headphones and try a different player.

ok thanks, thinking it to replace my Samsung S5 due to it being rather broken, not gonna repair it again. still usable but rather get something new

I am looking for a phone to buy for under 200€ and I found the P10 Lite. It seems there are no custom roms available for this one though. What other phones should I consider in that price range?

Whats the best App or Service to track an Android Phone discreetly? No messages or alarms, just tracking.
I lost too many phones already.

Cerberus

Yes please, not putting in the news people like me have no reason to click an /spg/

Best smartphone around $250 that supports t mobile 4g LTE (band 4)?

Honor 7X, $199

Cerberus or Prey. There's also the default Android thing but it's meh

Nope,only 2g on t mobile

Check again:

>4G bands LTE band 2(1900), 4(1700/2100), 5(850), 7(2600), 12(700), 17(700)

I'm in a similar situation. I wish the Samsung A5 would be available for 200€, because most phones in that price range, even if they're older phones that got cheap(er), all have pretty bad cameras :S
The Moto G5S seems to be okay?

nevermind, the camera seems to be garbage as well. Meh.

Not bad, but isn't there any phones with 4 gigs of ram and bigger battery that is compatible with band 4? I see a lot like the mi a1 and ulefone t1 but they don't work with t mobile

Google's tracker is not as accurate, and doesn't sport the features like Cerberus does.

I have a Nexus 5X and google fi. How good is the Moto X4? My nexus has a broken screen and I was thinking of getting the X4 since its also on the fi network.

Redmi Note 4 Global has LTE band 4
kimovil.com/en/where-to-buy-xiaomi-redmi-note-44gb-64gb-global

Or you could get the 4gb/64gb version of Moto G5 Plus for $259.99

Forgot link for the Moto:

I don't think many phones at that price point have a good camera. Well always depends what you're gonna do with it, any camera on a phone today for me is fine.

I guess so. Tbh finding the "perfect phone" at a specific pricepoint is paralyzing af, and that's not even including chinaphones :S

Photo stuff is mostly social media, but when I do feel like sending stuff around, it tends to be in fairly low light, which most cameras seem to struggle with

I don't know what to say. Other than bringing a dedicated camera if it's really important, try looking around for phone reviews and see which one has a decent camera for your use. I think it's an area where manufacturers cheap on when making phones in that price range so it's hard to find one

Got the OP5T. All around a good phone, and the camera is decent. Only problem is it's a tad too big. I would ha preferred a 5.5 inches screen.

Noticed something great about people in these generals. No one seems to like the idea of having small to medium sized phones. Tired of manufacturers having their new flagships 6+ inches.

Mine OP5T is on his way. I hope it comes by thursday.

Which launcher should i be using?

Lawnchair

Watch Yosuga no Sora if you haven't seen it yet.

Check install gentoo, the most popular is Nova Launcher, but I use KISS.

R.I.P. in peace SE

cnet.com/news/apples-iphone-se-sequel-reportedly-wont-be-a-big-revamp/

Anyone have recommendations for a good cheap smartphone to get for my mom? She doesn't do anything big with it, just uses web browser, TV app occasionally, and mail.

She's been getting annoyed with the cheap phone we bought as a sort of gateway smartphone for her - A ZTE Majesty Pro - because of the slowdowns and freezing it had all the time. We want to get her one that's maybe $150 or less, and we're not opposed to getting it used off a site like Swappa.

A screen size of 5 inches or more would be preferred too if you guys know any.

That's fine in my eyes, those that are buying small phones are probably ones that don't do much media or gaming on it. I'm sure it would run perfectly fine with the SE

I bought a Note 8 and slapped it in an otterbox defender. What screen protector will work with this case? People say the whitestone dome works but some say it doesn't and I've got nothing conclusive. I don't mind paying for a premium one I just want to be able to keep using this case.

Daily reminder to not buy Huawei phones outside of Europe otherwise you'll never get updates ever again. Just don't buy their shit.

Just got myself a note 8
What should I replace the stock messaging, internet and photos app with?

>Rooted new phone
>Bootloader unlocked
I know it's easy now but I feel like a fucking genius. Now for a stupid question:

>If I've successfully done the above and "factory reset" the phone so it boots like new and allows me to set up botnets and security measures, will it keep the root and unlocked bootloader?

Google Messages, Opera, Moto Gallery

>Just got mine today.
>Last phone was an OnePlus One that finally coughed it's last after aggressive usage.

This upgrade is pretty nuts.

Running Nuclearom on Moto X Pure, It is pretty damn fast (faster than stock) with better bsttery (5.5hours of SOT) and based on Los14.1 so no bloat

>Google Messages
Why recommend people at all

Canceled it. Wtf they dont have sd slots in either of the phones goddamnit. Idk what to do anymore, im scared fml.

Can someone give me a quick rundown of the chink botnet, or is it just some Sup Forums autism? I currently use Moto G 1st gen and want to upgrade to a moto g5 or g5s, but it seems to lack shit like NFC and compass sensor. Not sure why they'd remove sensors on a phone that came out 5 years later... The chink phones seem to have better features for the price.

need a new phone, my S4 finally shit out on me.
USA, Verizon, whatever features, around 200, dont care about size

I thought qksms was dead

It's not, many cases came out with Chinese smart phones having back doors to their government.

How does the Chinese government having potential access to my data affect me if I'm not a chinese citizen.

Nations communicate.
What's to say the U.S. can't exploit the same hole.

umm this is Sup Forums.
you should understand why a hardcoded backdoor is always a bad idea

Your root, no.
Bootloader, no.

>go back to Android a few days ago after 2+ years on iOs
>install "reputable" lockscreen app
>lockscreen never comes up after a while
>notifications never show
>even with Nova Launcher, I can't see how many notifications each of the apps on my homescreen have

jesus christ I'm glad that Android is still a useless Pajeet-tier buggy piece of shit

>go back to Android a few days ago after 2+ years on iOs
Why?

Oneplus 5T
6GB/64GB model or 8GB/128GB model for roughly $60 more?

The extra storage is kinda whatever for me because I stream my music and video, and I don't really play games on my phone.

RAM though could be important. However, basically all 8GB will do is keep more apps in RAM. Is that worth it in practice?

for $60, I'd say go bigger, but your call. The extra space and ram will just help in the long run

No. 6gb is already an immense amount

I know it's weird, but if the RAM isn't even much of a difference why not save $60 and throw that towards accessories that I'll actually use more than the extra RAM?
