Fujifilm buys a controlling stake in Xerox

Fujifilm and Xerox already had a joint venture called Fuji Xerox that sold Xerox products in Asia.

Under the deal, Xerox will merge with Fuji Xerox, and Fujifilm will control 51% of Fuji Xerox.

They will also layoff 10,000 workers globally.

Why is this happening? Link to news story?

Better alternatives (Philips mostly) and vendor neutral archives are viable now. If you've ever worked with Fuji support it's a constant battle and they own up to nothing. I was a vmware admin at a shop a few years ago overseeing my part of their synapse upgrade and the dude took a fuckin snapshot which eventually outgrew the datastore, I noticed it and said "uh guys..." and nothing. Downtime while I fixed that. I'm apart of a few usergroups in the region I'm in and hear things, pretty much everyone is actively seeking alternatives or implementing them. The only people who even like the fuckin thing are rads.

How does Agfa Healthcare fit into this?

no idea. I'm still in infrastructure as an architect and stay away from supporting enterprise imaging, these are just rumblings from counterparts at other facilities and what they've heard. All but one has stuck with synapse and that was political like how some shops stick with EMC no matter what.

>Clapistani labour laws
Here you could sue the shit out of the company.

Isn't free market capitalism great? Fuck the workers!

What does xerox even do anymore?

I wager the Hebrews are at fault for this.

That's a good question. Who's asking though? Some time ago could be a socialist, but now they're all replaced by sacks of shit who couldn't care any less about the people who work, so...

at a large global enterprise (NYC, LONDON, Beijing, some pajeet shithole) I worked at they had the printer contract. Every printer was Xerox, and every location had a large Xerox employee only space onsite. I imagine they pick up a ton of contracts like that, or did.
