uBlock Origin 1.15.0 is out!

github.com/gorhill/uBlock/releases

Will appear on AMO any second now
addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/ublock-origin/

New
HTML filtering

Ability to remove DOM elements from a source document before it is parsed by the browser. The platform must support an extension API to modify the response body on the fly. Currently only Firefox 57+ allows this.

Sub-filter lists

Ability for filter list maintainers to force uBO to load extra filter lists from within a filter list, using an !#include directive.

Changes
Logger

The logger can now be opened in a sidebar on Firefox. Just open the side bar and "uBlock0 -- Logger" will be available as a choice.

Closed as fixed:
Firefox

Not all images blocked 'Block media elements larger than' set to 0kb script:contains() does not work in WebExtensions
Evaluate using the new webRequest API to filter a response body on the fly
Ability to open the logger into the browser's sidebar

Core

uBO's own reload button does not do a cache-invalidating reload
Press Ctrl while clicking to force a bypass of the browser cache.manualUpdateAssetFetchPeriod=0 is ignored
Blocking meta refresh redirects (works only on Firefox 57+)
script:inject with only negated domains cause cosmetic filtering engine to crash
Regular expression flags in procedural cosmetic filters
Some procedural filter chaining not work?
Scriplet injections are Not Logged
Scriptlet injection filters counted as cosmetic filters

doesn't it update automatically?

and? fuck off autoupdate normie

Good thread, thanks

Can it fuck over Gelbooru's ads yet?

That's not a ublock origin issue, that's a rule list issue. You can figure out all the ads that Gelbooru has and block them, it's just that they randomize them every so often so you need updated rules.
Just have to find a rules list with a good maintainer.

Mine isn't.

>a rules list with a good maintainer.
Any suggested place to start with that?

so whats new with this?

uAssets/filters.txt is a good start, that blocks some of the cosmetic ads.
Then you just have to unblock the image server to see the thumbnails and images.

Thank you

any workarounds?

...

I use uMatrix and it seems the ads don't show up until I enable cookies

I don't know what uBlock Origin is or does, sorry

>renders attempts at analyzing browsing behaviour pointless
>clicks every add on every site he visits
>leaving a damn fucking obvious trail in his wake
>including:
>what sites he reads
>when he tends to browse
>how long he spends per site (by correltating with when a new page is opened)
>etc

yeah no
I am not going to comment on whether or not adnaususers are fighting the power or not, but they are definitely fucking not caring about their own privacy and disabling tracking.

>sorry
Yea you are

Does it actually block ads yet? Or does it still only hide them?

I don't have data caps wedged up my ass so as long as i don't see them I'm fine.

>Ability to remove DOM elements from a source document before it is parsed by the browser. Currently only Firefox 57+ allows this.

Maybe this will finally put to rest the retards who peddle fake news on here:

>uBlock Origin doesn't block ad requests, it just hides them. Use NoScript!

Even though anyone who opens the dev tools in the browser can see the network requests are blocked.

Anyways, having the ability to modify a page before the browser even parses it is incredible. The battle against ads is all but over, for now

git gud

>enjoying non-porn lewd art on a booru
git dead

i can block them fine but i still get pop ups

Do your thumbnails work as well? I have uBlock off but all scripts blocked through uMatrix because fuck that I'm not enabling shit with all the exploits floating around.

still used old version prior 1.14. Tried once version 1.14 felt heavy on my firefox, after check on about:memory it used 20+ MB of memory. rollback to old version the memory usage only 4MB

Please stop blocking ads on gelbooru.
Their cdn is going up and down and the API couldn't go deeper than 80K posts.

If you want to block gelbooru ads without breaking anything
first whitelist gelbooru, then install this userstyles.org/styles/141949/adfree-gelbooru-w-dark-theme

let me add that this does not protect against exploits though.

Once i arrive from work i will post my filter list.

Is there any way i can create a custom filter list for others to use in uBlock Origin? I would love to create and maintain one for porn boorus.

Isn't there a filter that blocks the blocking script? One was posted here a few days ago. I don't use this website so I didn't save it.

It's really easy to bypass Gelbooru's bullshit. Just enable everything, refresh, and audit the scripts in the logs - from there figure out what to block and what to keep. It's rather simple.

>Is there any way i can create a custom filter list for others to use in uBlock Origin? I would love to create and maintain one for porn boorus.

Just create a simple .txt file with all the filter rules and upload it to GitHub.

you dont need to disable ublock.
I have ublock with default settings and umatrix on and everything works just fine. to get thumbnails to work enable the script from ajax.googleapis
