Only sort of. It's KVM with a virtio disk stored on a 960 Pro NVMe, and plenty of spare RAM on the host. The crazy linear speeds are from Linux caching recently used parts of the disk file.

Why does it show up as 320GBb ? wouldn't the 512GB show up as ~480GB or something?

Because I didn't dedicate my entire NVMe to that VM. I created it as a 320 GB qcow2. It's not a raw device or anything, it's just a file I made inside of my /home ext4 partition.
