>what's it do?
you can watch your cartoons in your terminal

i guess it would be pretty good for sexytime

Amazing

so this... is the power of windows
wow

>can't into subtitles
Useless for chinese animun tbqh.

>windows
ahem

know mpv you probably cook up a quick lua script to dump the subtitles at the bottom

why the fuck it do this?

what terminal are you using?

I Maki !!!

you have shit taste fyi

mac
printenv shows
TERM_PROGRAM=Apple_Terminal

5 cute facts about maki:

- She's a girl!
- She's a tomato!
- I love her!!!!!
- Maki!!!!!!!!!!!

Kill yourself

>TERM=xterm-256color
--vo-tct-256= (default: no)
Use 256 colors - for terminals which don't support true color.

am brainlet it just played the video normally when i ran --vo-tct-256=yes

>not using the superior libcaca

perro caca

Maki give me the faki

MORE FACTS

mpv actually does that by default, but vo_tct will scroll right past them

mp.register_event("file-loaded", function()
mp.set_property("vf", "lavfi=[subtitles='" .. mp.get_property_native("filename") .. "']")
mp.set_property("sid", "no")
end)

if you make the terminal big enough you can almost read the subs

>cat ears
what anime is this?

those are fox ears
anidb.net/perl-bin/animedb.pl?show=anime&aid=13030

it needs some vsync os shit and it would be perfect

the quality is far better when I'm not using screen recording

Tomatoes are grim

If you ever find yourself on a system without X then you can use --vo drm to watch videos with mpv

why did this make my xorg crash.

>drm/i915: Resetting chip after gpu hang
oh
neat
time to reboot

you're gpu a shit

I guess

Meh, here is how to view in high resolution on the tty:

First look for your alsa soundcard and give yourself permissions to audio and video.

# find the correct device with
aplay --list-devices
# TAKE NOTE: if it says "card 0........device 3", then it will be ao=alsa:device=hw=0.3 on your ~/.mplayer/config

# add your user to the video and audio group
usermod -a -G video audio

Next is configurations to be put in "~/.mplayer/config" file, there are two remember to comment or comment out low resolution or high resolution to get it right.
# framebuffer video ouput
vo=fbdev
# alsa device
ao=alsa:device=hw=0.0
# required to adjust screen without problem
fs=1
# fill screen
zoom = 1
# scale up or down as needed to framebuffer's width; it'll scale the height automatically
# high res
xy = 1920
# low res
#xy = 1440
# buffers x amount of data before playback starts
cache=8192
cache-min=99
# sync video and audio
mc=2
# smooth video play
sws=0
# optional acceleration
lavdopts=fast=1:skiploopfilter=all:threads=16
framedrop=1
# avoid the lirc error message
nolirc=yes
# don't clutter the console with output
really-quiet=1

Of course this is for mplayer, not mpv.

has mpv gone too far?
whats their endgame?
